Nanjing Fuzimiao Info:
Nanjing Fuzimiao (Chinese: 南京夫子庙) or Fuzimiao (Chinese: 夫子庙; literally: 'Confucian Temple'), is located in southern Nanjing City on banks of the Qinhuai River.
In first year of Jianwu reign of Jin Dynasty (CE 317), Nanking Imperial University was founded, initially on northern bank of Qinhuai River, and in the 3rd year of Xiankang (CE 337) the campus extended to southern bank. Temple of Confucius was firstly constructed in the national school in the 9th year of Taiyuan (CE 384). The place was later destroyed. In the 1st year of Jingyou during Song Dynasty (CE 1034), Confucius Temple was newly constructed on former site of imperial university, and was called Fuzimiao area along with Nanking Fuxue. The place became Imperial University again in 1365 in the early year of Ming Dynasty, and sixteen years later recovered to be the campus of Fuxue. During Qing Dynasty, there were two Xianxue (county schools of Shangyuan and Jiangning) in Fuzimiao area. In the end of Qing a primary school jointly sponsored by counties of Nanjing (Jiangning Fu) was established there. The current buildings date from the 19th century, in Qing Dynasty, with additions made since then. The temple lost all financial support by the state as a result of the revolution of 1911. During the late 1920s to 1931 and again in 1932 it was used as army barracks for troops the KMT regime and left in a dilapidated state. Some halls were used as picture gallery. In 1985 Fuzimiao area was restored.
There is Jiangnan Gongyuan near Fuzimiao Temple. It's the largest imperial examination hall in Ming and Qing dynasties.
Throughout its history, the temple along with the around area has been a place for study of Confucianism. There is a small exhibit of folkart within the temple.

Nanjing Fuzimiao has had a national reputation since 1034 in the Ming Dynasty and it was greatly promoted in the Qing Dynasty. In the two dynasties, Fuzimiao was a thriving commercial and entertainment center emersed in rich culture and arts. It is said that in the time of Qing, the streets in this area had a total length of more than 10 Li (equal to five km) with countless shops, restaurants, bars and hotels, lining up two sides of these streets with colorful signs and lights. The streets were frequented everyday by travelers, wealthy merchants, and royal members in casual clothes.
Fuzimiao is located in the south of Nanjing and is associated with many well-known names, such as Nanjing Confucius Temple, Qinhuai River, Jiangnan Gongyuan (where ancient provincial and national examinations were held), Wuyi Xiang (Wuyi Alley), and more. It is surrounded by the famous Qinhuai River. The Confucius Temple is situated in the center of this region, consisting of a cluster of symmetrically arranged buildings and covering an area of over 26,000 square meters.
The municipal government, in 1985, spent millions in renovating the whole area to keep up with the times and to create a center for shopping, dining and entertainment. Since then the region has been booming with business, and as a result, the economy and population have grown in great pace. Now, Fuzimiao has become one of the most well known attractions nationwide for tourists.
Enjoy your stay while you are there. Buy special gifts for yourself and your friends or family. Sit in a bar or restaurant for your dining needs. And don't forget to learn how to bargain with locals before making your purchase!!
The Confucius Temple in Nanjing was a place to worship and consecrate Confucius, a great philosopher and educator of ancient China. It is also known as Fuzimiao in Chinese. Originally, the temple was constructed in the year of 1034 in the Song Dynasty (420-589).
In front of the Nanjing Confucius Temple, the Qin Huai River is flowing.
CHINA EM 3MIN - FUZIMIAO - TEMPLO DE CONFÚCIO EM NANJING - Nanquim

Langzhong AncientCity, Sichuan (China)

The temple can be visited throughout the year. However, in the summer, temple is usually more crowded with tourists. Although the winter months are particularly cold, people can attend a notable festival during the first month of the lunar year called Lantern Festival, which makes a good time to visit.
