NOTE: Johanneskirche is actually pronounced Yo-hahn-es-kir-ke although I do not pronounce it correctly in the video.
This beautiful church located 1 kilometre southwest of downtown Stuttgart was built in the 19th century (rebuilt after WWII). I also show the church grounds as well.

The Johanneskirche Stuttgart am Feuersee is one of the architectural highlights in the west of Stuttgart. The neo-gothic St. John's Church was built between 1865 and 1876 by architect Christian Friedrich von Leins and was Stuttgart's first new church after the Reformation.
The original 66m high tower and the church were heavily damaged by bombing in 1943 and 1944. During reconstruction, the vault in the nave and the spire were initially not restored for financial reasons. Today many understand this tower as a memorial against the war.The newly designed shore of Lake Feuersee with many seating options and a beautiful view of St. John's Church invites you to a relaxing break near the city center.
The Protestant Church of St John (German: Johanneskirche) in Stuttgart was built in the Gothic Revival style from 1864 to 1876 by its chief architect, Christian Friedrich von Leins. It lies on a peninsula of the Feuersee (Fire Lake), while the main entrance and tower marks the beginning of the former Johannesstraße (St. John's Street).
After being nearly destroyed in the Second World War, the main church building was reconstructed, but the Gothic vaults were replaced with modern ones and the tower was intentionally left incomplete to serve as a sort of war memorial.

Evangelische Johanneskirche Stuttgart-West
Die Johanneskirche wurde im 19. Jahrhundert von dem Oberbaudirektor Christian Friedrich von Leins, dem damals führenden Architekten Württembergs erbaut. Nach elfjähriger Bauzeit wurde sie 1876 eingeweiht.
Durch die zunehmende Industriealisierung war die Bevölkerung Stuttgarts explosionsartig angewachsen. Deshalb wurde ein neuer Stadtteil entworfen. Großzügig und repräsentativ sollte er sein mit der prachtvollen Querachse Herrmann-Johannesstraße, die unterbrochen ist durch die Feuersee-Anlage. Dazu musste der kleine, dreieckige Feuerlöschteich vergrößert und umgestaltet werden. Auf der künstlich angelegten Halbinsel wurde die Johanneskirche gebaut: die erste Bürgerkirche Stuttgarts, die nach der Reformation als evangelische Kirche geplant wurde.
Vorbilder für den Baustil waren gotische Kathedralen in Europa. Außerdem sollte die neue Kirche in ihrem Stil den drei Innenstadtkirchen entsprechen.

(BW) Evangelische Leonhardskirche in Stuttgart-Mitte Geläut am Sonntag
1337 wurde am Ort der heutigen Kirche – auf freiem Feld circa 500 Meter vor dem damaligen Esslinger Tor – eine kleine, dem heiligen Leonhard geweihte Kapelle errichtet. Wahrscheinlich diente der Bau zunächst als Station für Pilger des Jakobswegs. Ab Ende des 14. Jahrhunderts entwickelte sich außerhalb des Esslinger Tores und mit der Kapelle als Zentrum eine Vorstadt, wahlweise nach Tor oder Kapelle als Esslinger oder Leonhardsvorstadt bezeichnet. Noch vor 1408 wurde der erste Bau durch eine einschiffige Kirche mit Chor und Turm ersetzt. Mit der Aufgabe des Friedhofs der Stiftskirche wurde der Leonardskirchhof 1430 Friedhof für die Bürger Stuttgarts. Die Bedeutung der Kirche nahm weiter zu, obwohl sie bis 1806 Filialkirche blieb.
Bereits im Jahr 1463 wurde eine Erweiterung der Kirche notwendig, die der Baumeister der Stiftskirche, Aberlin Jörg, bis 1466 durchführte. Nach dieser Baumaßnahme präsentierte sich die Leonhardskirche als spätgotische dreischiffige Hallenkirche mit leicht eingezogenem Chor und seitlich stehendem Turm. In dieser Form verblieb das Bauwerk fast unverändert bis in die Zeit des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Nach dem verheerenden Bombardement Stuttgarts im Jahre 1944 wurde die stark beschädigte Kirche zwischen 1948 und 1954 durch Rudolf Lempp vereinfacht wiederaufgebaut.
1954 erhielt die Leeonhardskirche ein
Geläut von fünf Glocken, das die ersten Töne des Chorals „Gott rufet noch“ wiedergibt. Das Geläut besteht aus den folgenden Glocken:
Dominica h°, eine sogenannte Leihglocke aus der Dreikönigskirche von Elbing, die 1729 von Michael Wittwerck in Danzig gegossen wurde.
Betglocke d', die jeden Abend um 8 Uhr zum Gebet in der Familie ruft und beim Gottesdienst zum Vaterunser läutet.
Kreuzglocke e', die eine Kreuzigungsgruppe zeigt
Zeichenglocke fis', die ein Bild vom Brand der Leonhardskirche gibt und mahnen und warnen soll
Taufglocke a' mit dem Sinnbild der Taufe: ein Kind wird eingetaucht in die Flut der Gnade.
Die Glocken d', e', fis' und a' wurden in der Glockengießerwerkstatt 1954 gegossen von Heinrich Kurtz in Stuttgart.
