Juney Whank Falls
Walk to Juney Whank Falls
The Juney Whank Falls trailhead is located just north of Bryson City in North Carolina. The trail to Juney Whank Falls is only a quarter of a mile from the parking lot. The trail leads you to a footbridge that gives you an up-close view of the falls. The 80-foot cascade starts above you and then runs under the bridge before emptying into Deep Creek at the bottom of the trail.
The stream and the falls are more than likely named for Junaluska Juney Whank, a man said to be buried in the area. However, there are some people who believe Juney Whank is a Cherokee phrase which means where the bear passes

Deep Creek waterfalls loop - Great Smoky Mountains National Park, NC
The first of 6 hikes I did during the 3-day MLK weekend. Since I had a long drive out to the mountains, I chose this short hike to 3 waterfalls near the Deep Creek Campground on the North Carolina side of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Following the Deep Creek Trail along the namesake creek I first passed by Tom Branch Falls falling directly into Deep Creek. Then I continued on the trail along Deep Creek before looping back around over Sunkota Ridge to see Indian Creek Falls. Just before returning to the campground there is a short but steep loop to Juney Whank Falls. This is a nice creek and waterfall outing that doesn't require too much effort.
Hike was 5.2 miles with 740 feet elevation gain in 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Waterfalls in the North Carolina Smoky Mountains at Bryson City
A walk or drive beside any mountain stream will lead you by hundreds of tumbling cascades as the waters rush down from the peaks of the Smokies. But the high falls are the most spectacular, and Swain County offers some of the best in the Smokies, including Deep Creek’s trio of waterfalls – Juney Whank, Tom Branch and Indian Creek Falls.

Chasing Waterfalls ~ North Carolina Waterfall Tour
Recently me & Wifey decided to take a weekend trip to see as many NC waterfalls as possible in the Asheville, NC area. Western NC has an abundance of beautiful waterfalls. We estimated our trip would be around 200 miles round-trip starting in Asheville.
We ended up visiting 8 waterfalls. Some of these waterfalls require quite long hikes because they were remote. It was a very fun and tiring trip. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery and now we are pumped to visit even more waterfalls all over North Carolina.
The 8 waterfalls we visited:
Linville Waterfalls
Crabtree Falls
Roaring Fork Falls
Soco Falls
Mingo Falls
Juney Whank Falls
Toms Branch Falls
Indian Creek Falls
The last 3 waterfalls were located in Smokey Mountains ark in Bryson City, NC.
I used an iPhone 5 and a Canon 60D to shoot all of this video.
I hope you enjoy the video. Fell free to share with others and subscribe to catch all of our adventures.

Take the Plunge...Midnight Falls
Midnight Hole Falls in the Smokey Mts offers an exhilarating jump into the cool waters of the Pigeon River. After a day of rafting in the Tennessee Smokey's, the guide suggested a short drive towards the North Carolina border and a hike up to Midnight Falls. The kids will definitely remember this for a while.

Bring your two worlds together with a great mountain setting and view plus the contemporary flair of the city. This one of a kind, well designed home with large beams gives a rustic hint to the artistic décor. Red mosaic tile lines the walls & shower in the hall bath. Slate floors are in laundry and kitchen. The well lit living room has windows lined with beams that shed light on the bamboo floors and solid maple steps lead up and down connecting the 3 floors. The lower level has poured basement and a dark room for the photographer. The loft with black oak floors looks out over the living area and the mountain views!

WATERFALL HIKE TO HIDDEN CAVE! Moore Cove Falls
We hiked to a waterfall that also had a hidden cave called Moore Cove Falls in Pisgah National Forest! Well it was part of the waterfall but you could walk inside and behind the waterfall to experience an other worldly peace. Unfortunately we could not spend the entire day at the waterfall because we were already running late for our drive back home.
Moore Cove Falls:
This showery plunging waterfall is located in one of the most popular areas of the Pisgah National Forest, near the Davidson River in the Land of Waterfalls. It's a delightful, beautiful walk thru fern-filled woods. And it's easy enough for families with small children to complete. This falls is highly recommended, and it could be combined with another nearby hike in the area if you want to add some more trail mileage to your day.

Smoky Mountain Cascade- North Carolina
In this short clip we highlight one of the many small tributary streams that cascade off the Great Smoky Mountains by the side of U.S. Highway 441 in the Park. Take photos, video or just enjoy viewing them by using the designated pull off spots located along the highway.
