Interrogation room. Just for fun made this video although a few years back this kind of thing would of been a lot more serious and vicious. Fascinating museum in Tallinn showing the atrocities that took place with the prisoners held here! If you like what you see and want help planning your luxury travel drop me an email

KGB Prison Cells
Location: Pagari 1, Tallinn (entrance on Pikk Street 59).
okupatsioon.ee/kgb
In 1941, Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic (ESSR) Commissariat for Internal Affairs established the prison cells in the cellar of the building at Pagari 1. In the basement, suspected enemies of the state were imprisoned and interrogated before they were either shot or sent to labor camps in Siberia. The bricked-up basement windows were intended to mute the sounds of the interrogations and torturing. Although the detention centre was used only until 1950, the action taken between the walls lives in the memories to this day.
The prison cells at Pagari Street stand as silent and intimate witnesses, telling the stories of atrocious violations of human rights and the crimes of inhumane regimes.

But it is not just happy memories and proud names left in Tallinn's beautiful homes. The house, which was only 400 meters from the Marginpan store, was tightly closed until last year. This stone building was the headquarters of the KGB during the Soviet occupation. The prison here was used as a preliminary investigation room and lockup. We opened this museum in July last year. This prison has not been open to the people of Estonia for more than half a century. In fact, the building was a very special place before it was used as the KGB headquarters. Sad and paradoxically, the building was used as the defense ministry of Estonia during the first independence war in Estonia. So this building is a very symbolic place. In 1918, people dreamed of independence here. In 1941, living in a dream became a dream. It was a place for simple investigation, but interrogation sometimes lasted for many years. Those who had been caught for some very minor reason or for no small reason had to suffer until they made their own reasons. Light was used when torturing children. It is a kind of consultant who shoots people's eyes, especially for children. The woman named Agadha, who was taken here as a child, says she has not seen her well because of the light torture she received. I have seen a lot of these places. We also visited Hawaii's World War II Sites, Alcatraz Prison, Robb Island Prison in South Africa. My grandfather was in concentration camp and I am interested in these places. It is interesting to know about such history. I think it's the most important thing that freedom should not be taken for granted. What is the most important freedom for you? Eating and drinking You can talk to someone inconvenient without worrying about going to jail To believe that you will come home safely after a day People who had to endure the endless winter without forgetting the flow of time, I hope that today's Tallinn will be a little comforting beyond that door.

KGB Spy Museum. KGB prison cell
Compared with the immediate postwar years, conditions in prison cells from the 1960s to the 1980s looked different. There were up to three inmates in the cells, and each had a bed with bed linen and a locker. The dishes, cutlery and prisoner’s clothes on video are original. Clothes like these were worn by prisoners who served their sentences in forced labour camps and people sentenced to death. In this prison, detainees who were kept pending their trial wore their own clothes. After the 1960s, when the armed anti-Soviet resistance was over, the prison held people who in one way or another protested against the Soviet regime and the policy of Russification: fighters for human rights and freedom of conscience, underground publishers and people who distributed their publications, and the authors of anti-Soviet leaflets. Criminal offenders who were under investigation by the KGB were also kept here.

KGB prison cells
One of the most notorious and feared pre-trial prisons operated in the basement of the building at 1 Pagari Street during the Soviet occupation. The former KGB prison cells are now open to the public.
The building built in 1912 has had a remarkable role in the recent history of Estonia. Arrested Estonian politicians, civil servants, intellectuals, veterans of the War of Independence, but also ordinary people were beaten and tortured there, and then sentenced to death or imprisonment. The prison cells built in the basement have remained a symbol of communist terror to this day. Visitors can explore the basement comprising two corridors, six prison cells, and a punishment cell.
KGB vangikongid
Pagari tänav 1 hoone keldris asus Nõukogude okupatsiooni ajal üks kurikuulsamaid ja kardetuimaid eeluurimisvanglaid. Seni avalikkusele suletuks jäänud endised KGB vangikongid on nüüd külastamiseks avatud.
1912. aastal elumajana valminud hoone roll Eesti lähiajaloos on märkimisväärne. Keldrisse rajatud kongid on jäänud tänini kommunistliku terrori võrdkujuks. Külastajate ees avaneb kelder kahe koridori, kuue kongi ja ühe kartseriga.
KGB/ Stasi underground Interogation Prison
1945 the KGB established an underground interrogation prison in Berlin - Hohenschoenhausen, Germany. 1951 it was turned over to the notorious STASI. It was called the U-Boot and became for thousands of their victims the place of no return or the beginning of their road to one of the Gulags inside the Evil Empire or the Guillotine, the execution instrument of the GDR - German Demokratic Republik, - for their political opponents.
