Revisiting The OLD CLARK A.F.B. - MY FAVORITE PLACES - Life In The Philippines
Today we took a ride around the Old Clark Air Force Base and stopped at some of my favorite places in Clark. There is so much growth going on. It's like the Old meets the New. Of course we had to stop at the old Clark Air Force Hospital.

The Aswang Phenomenon - Full Documentary on the Filipino Vampire
The Aswang Phenomenon - an exploration of the aswang folklore and its effects on Philippine society. Philippine Mythology. Produced by High Banks Entertainment Ltd.
Over the last 400 years, the ‘aswang’ has come to represent everything that is ‘vile, disgusting and evil in Philippine society’. It has become the most controversial, and popular, creature in Philippine Mythology and is the main subject in hundreds of movies, television programs, comics, and books. The aswang can appear in many forms- a young woman, a witch, a large black pig or dog, a corpse stealing ghoul, or the Manananggal – a self segmenting beast with a long hollow tongue that will feed on the fetus of pregnant woman.
Where did this word come from? Why are there so many different types of aswang? Why are they predominantly women? And why is the small Visayan province of Capiz suspected as their home? Canadian film-maker, Jordan Clark, sets out to find the answers. His journey explores folk stories in pre-Spanish Philippines – re-created in animated sequences by Denver Jackson. He uncovers historical tales of social control and black propaganda by Spanish Colonizers, the Catholic Church, the Philippine Administration, and even the CIA – who all used the stories of ‘aswang’ for their own agenda.
The Aswang Phenomenon is the first in-depth documentary regarding the aswang myth – discovering where manifestations of the creature came from and how they evolved and embedded themselves in Filipino society. Learn how Filipinos have been transformed by the myth and are now evolving the aswang to fit into their developing cultural identity.
“Understanding where the ‘aswang’ came from is the first step in taking away its power and the fear it creates.”
Produced By Jordan Clark & Cheryl Anne del Rosario

Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Cedar Rapids /ˈsiːdər ˈræpɨdz/ is the second largest city in Iowa and is the county seat of Linn County. The city lies on both banks of the Cedar River, 20 miles (32 km) north of Iowa City and 100 miles (160 km) east of Des Moines, the state's capital and largest city. Until massive flooding in 2008, the city's government was headquartered in the Veterans Memorial Building, near the Linn County Courthouse and jail on Mays Island in the Cedar River; Cedar Rapids was one of a few cities in the world, along with Paris, France, with governmental offices on a municipal island.
A flourishing center for arts and culture in Eastern Iowa, the city is home to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, the Paramount Theatre, Theatre Cedar Rapids, the African-American Historical Museum and Cultural Center of Iowa, and the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance. Cedar Rapids is an economic hub of the state, located in the core of the Interstate 380 Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Technology Corridor of Linn, Benton, Jones, Johnson, and Washington counties. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city population was 126,326.

Leon S. Thomas - February 16, 2019 Military Honors at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville, TN
Leon S. Thomas – November 11, 1918 - February 8, 2019
Leon S. Thomas – Age 100, of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at his home in West Knoxville. He was a World War II Naval Aviator, general aviation enthusiast, entrepreneur, businessman, builder, history buff, tennis player, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an alumnus of Knoxville High School, and the University of Tennessee, and a UT football fan beginning in the Bob Neyland era.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Bessie Thomas of Knoxville, and his wife of 67 years Flora Lee Thomas, he is survived by his daughter, Carole Thomas Harreld (Grady) of Owensboro, Kentucky, son Bruce R. Thomas (Catherine Lee), of St. Michaels, Maryland, son Marvin L. Thomas, of Knoxville, Grandchildren Courtney Harreld Weisensel (Dave), of Denver, Colorado, and Lindsay Harreld Cohlmeyer (Steve) and great grandchildren Flora Kate and Connor Cohlmeyer, of Georgetown, Kentucky, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
Born November 11, 1918, in Knoxville, to Bruce and Bessie Thomas, he first appeared in the Knoxville newspaper as a Peace Baby, after the Armistice ending WWI was signed earlier that day. He attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, interrupted by the passing of his father and the outbreak of WWII. In the 1930’s, he was in the aviation business at Knoxville’s Island Airport with his oldest brother, Ferris, an aviation pioneer in the area. At the start of WWII, he was delivering airplanes to Detroit where he met his future wife, Flora Lee, a musician, who was working as an air traffic controller. As a Naval Aviator, he flew the Martin Mariner (PBM), a seaplane patrolling for U-Boats in the South Atlantic. After the U-Boat threat subsided in the South Atlantic, the Navy took them to Corpus Christi, Texas, where they started a family. After World War II ended, they made their home in Knoxville.
After returning to Knoxville, he worked for General Electric and Westinghouse while finishing his University studies in night school. In 1964, he started his own business, Electric Supply Co. of Knoxville, which operated under his management and that of son Marvin, for 47 years before being sold.
He was an avid student of history, encouraging his children to learn about world and American history. In 2009, he was honored along with many other WWII Veterans as part of the Honor Air program, which took him on a chartered flight to Washington, DC to visit the WWII monument among others, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
He and his wife remained active and adventurous into their later years, climbing Mt. LeConte and the dangerous (now closed) trail to the Chimney Tops, at age 75, along with their sons. They enjoyed the Smokies throughout their lives together. They made numerous flights in their own airplane, to visit the ‘kids and grandkids’, as well as a transcontinental vacation by air, from Knoxville to Seattle, San Diego, Dallas and back with numerous stops in between to visit friends and relatives and see the country. They travelled widely, including trips to Europe, East Africa, Hong Kong, Brazil, Alaska, Hawaii, and the American West.

Chicago ( (listen), locally also ), officially the City of Chicago, is the third most populous city in the United States. As of the 2017 census-estimate, Chicago has a population of 2,716,450, which makes it the most populous city in both the state of Illinois and the Midwestern United States. It is the county seat of Cook County, the second most populous county in the United States. Chicago is the principal city of the Chicago metropolitan area, which is often referred to as Chicagoland. The Chicago metropolitan area has nearly 10 million people, is the third-largest in the United States, the fourth largest in North America, and the third largest metropolitan area in the world by land area.
Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837 near a portage between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watershed and grew rapidly in the mid-nineteenth century. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which destroyed several square miles and left more than 100,000 homeless, the city made a concerted effort to rebuild. The construction boom accelerated population growth throughout the following decades, and by 1900 Chicago was one of the five largest cities in the world. During this period, Chicago made noted contributions to urban planning and zoning standards, including new construction styles (including the Chicago School of architecture), the development of the City Beautiful Movement, and the steel-framed skyscraper.Chicago is an international hub for finance, commerce, industry, technology, telecommunications, and transportation. It was the site of the creation of the first standardized futures contracts at the Chicago Board of Trade, which today is the largest and most diverse derivatives market in the world, generating 20% of all volume in commodities and financial futures. O'Hare International Airport is the one of the busiest airports in the world, and the region also has the largest number of U.S. highways and railroad freight. In 2012, Chicago was listed as an alpha global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, and it ranked seventh in the entire world in the 2017 Global Cities Index.
Chicago has the fourth-largest gross metropolitan product in the world—generating about $670.5 billion accordi ...
