Spectator View of Singapore VS Juventus @ SG Sports Hub (Pirlo & Giovinco Goals + Kallang Wave)

A spectator’s point of view of the first ever football (soccer) match held at the new Singapore National Stadium, where Juventus beat a Singapore Selection side 5-0 in a friendly match. Andrea Pirlo scored the first 2 goals to lead Juventus to a comfortable win over a poor Singapore side, which includes a sweet volley from outside the box by Sebastian Giovinco. Nonetheless, the fans had a great time soaking in the party atmosphere at the brand new stadium in Singapore’s Sports Hub on 16 Aug 2014.

【Whampoa Dragon】
A beautiful piece of work can be found in front of Block 85 of Whampoa Drive.

Built in the early seventies together with the small quiet town of Whampoa, the dragon fountain has been a symbolic landmark in that area. The Central Expressway (CTE) lies just opposite the fountain.




【Kallang River】
The Kallang River (Chinese: 加冷河, Malay: Sungei Kallang) is the longest river in Singapore, flowing for 10 kilometres from the Lower Peirce Reservoir (originally named Kallang River Reservoir) to the Kallang Basin. It originates in the planning area of Central Water Catchment, flows in a southeast direction through Bishan and Toa Payoh, before finally arriving in Kallang.




【National Stadium】
The National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Kallang, Singapore. It opened its doors on 30 June 2014, replacing the former National Stadium at the same site, which was closed in 2007 and demolished in 2010.

Singapore National Stadium Mode Change - Football to Athletics

The Singapore National Stadium is the world’s first air-cooled and custom-designed stadium that can host athletics, football, rugby and cricket all in one venue, converting from one mode to another within a mere 48 hours. Arup designed an integrated moving tier system which achieved an optimum viewing experience for spectators during sporting events.

Divided into eight retractable seating modules, the 55,000 seat National Stadium has 30,000 seats located within the lower tier bowl, bringing spectators closer to the action.

From Stadium to Sports Hub

From Stadium to Sports Hub shows how the National Stadium has transformed into today’s Sports Hub, encapsulating the shared experiences of Singaporeans past, present and future. Featuring voiceovers from leaders instrumental to the development of the National Stadium, key Sportsmen of Singapore and everyday Singaporeans, it highlights the living space that the Sports Hub is, to provide for a wide spectrum of Sports and its spirit of inclusivity in catering for various lifestyle and leisure events. It raises a sense of National pride and identity, with the Sports Hub catapulting Singapore’s Sports achievements into the future.

Up and coming young athlete Shanti Pereira is one of the Sportsmen featured in this video. The athlete is studying Sports and Leisure Management under a special programme jointly offered by Republic Polytechnic and Singapore Sports School, and juggles her track training with her studies. At the 28th South East Asian Games (SEA Games), Shanti did very well, scoring a personal best and setting a national record for the 200m Women’s Sprint Event. Her performance on the track also made her the first female sprinter to bring home a SEA Games Gold Medal since 1973. The nineteen-year-old was also a torchbearer at the Opening Ceremony. The diligent athlete was at the filmshoot once the SEA Games concluded, serving to inspire other Singaporean youths with her thoughts and aspirations.
