JAPAN FLEA MARKET | Kamakura,Tokyo | SO MUCH CHEAP STUFF! | Anpaman | Vlog 5
#JapanFleaMarket #KamakuraFleaMarket #Anpaman
Hey! Hey! Hey!
This was an awesome hot sunny day at the Kamakura flea market. I have a 1000 yen budget but only spent 600 yen for 9 items. I was expecting to buy a lot but wasn't able to because Michio was hyper that day. I wasn't able to stay on one spot for a long time because Michio was all over the place. Ha Ha
Anyways, we came home happy for what we bought especially Michio.
Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you all on my next video!
Love lots,
Michelle

Kamakura is a seaside Japanese city just south of Tokyo. The political center of medieval Japan, modern-day Kamakura is a prominent resort town with dozens of Buddhist Zen temples and Shinto shrines. Its most recognizable landmark is the Kotoku-in Temple’s Great Buddha, a roughly 13m-high bronze statue still standing after a 15th-century tsunami. Yuigahama Beach on Sagami Bay is a popular surfing spot.

This is Part 1 of our amazing trip to Japan, a 15 day (wish it had been 3 months) whistle stop tour organised by Virgin Holidays.
We chose mid October, which as it turned out is a little too early for the Autumn colours. Well, except at Mt Fuji! Wedding photography commitments plus the tour we chose (Japan Panorama) dictated the dates we could go. So November would be a better time, at least in central Honshu, Japan's main Island.
The only downside was the weather! It just rained for the first week, 90% of the time. However, we did have a Typhoon midway through, so just our bad luck I guess.
Still, the 2nd week was a lot better and anyway, it didn't dampen our spirits as we reveled in the mix of tradition, culture and Tech which is Japan!
Much more to come and thanks for watching!

???? Escaping Tokyo for my first solo trip to a small seaside town in Japan // Kamakura Vlog ????
???? On a bright and sunny day in June I decided to take a lil solo trip to the beautiful town of Kamakura! It's a small seaside town just south of Tokyo (about 1 hour away) and it's famous for its temples and shrines, popular surfing beaches, mountains & bamboo forests and the Great Buddha of Kamakura, an 11m bronze Buddha statue! ????
Places visited:
????Hasedera Temple, Hydrangea Path & Museum- I think it's best to go in June when the Hydrangeas are all out in bloom! (¥400 entry fee, ¥300 museum fee / 8am-5pm)
????The Great Buddha of Kamakura (8am-4:30pm)
???? Yuigahama Beach
???? Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine (8am-8:30pm)
This was my very first time vlogging in public so apologies for the shaky footage ???? but I had a lot of fun making this and I hope you enjoy seeing some of Kamakura too!
Thanks so much for watching and see you in the next video!

Bookworms welcome! An introduction to the world's largest book city Jimbocho!
If you love books, Jimbocho is the place to go!
With about 200 bookstores, Jimbocho has a lot to offer. Most of the bookshops sell antique and rare books, however, they also offer a variety of other print media, such as old maps, old movie posters, and movie scripts. Furthermore, some bookstores are specialized in one genre, such as manga (comic) books, architecture related books, and art books and exhibition catalogs. Whether you are doing some research on old Japan, you study Japanese, or you are just looking for some nice home decor articles, Jimbocho is worth a visit!
These are some of our bookstore recommendations!
◆ ◆ ◆
◆ ◆ Antique books, maps and woodblock prints from the Edo period: OHYA SHOBO
Ohya Shobo
The first thing that catches your eye is the huge map of Edo Tokyo in the shop window of this bookstore. When entering the shop, shelves over shelves filled with antique books and scripts from the Edo period (1603-1868) will astonish you. The shop offers books from every genre you could think of, such as history, literature, art, calligraphy, tea ceremony, martial arts, medicine, picture books, etc. Old maps and ukiyo-e woodblock prints can be used as beautiful home decor.
◆ ◆ Art books, catalogs and artist's memoirs: BOHEMIAN'S GUILD
Bohemian's Guild
This is a must-go bookstore for everyone who loves art! The store offers an eclectic collection of foreign and Japanese art books, artists' books, and exhibition catalogs. Behind the cash register and on the second floor, several showcases show original art pieces by Takehisa Yumeji, Ogai Mori's drafts and letters from Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
◆ ◆ All about architecture - from old books to the latest volumes: NANYODO SHOTEN
Nanyodo Shoten
This bookstore is all about architecture. So it comes as no surprise that the building of the shop itself is a beautiful concrete architecture with a large window that makes the structure look light and welcoming. The first and second-floor offer are old and new Japanese architecture books as well as magazine back numbers, while the 3rd-floor has a collection of Western books.
◆ ◆ Looking for the latest manga issues or cute accessories? Check out BOOKS SANSEIDO
Books Sanseido
With over 1.4 million books of each genre, this bookstore is like a department store for books. If you are looking for the latest Japanese manga, go to the Comic Station on the 6th floor. The huge comic corner offers everything from manga classics to the latest issues. The hand-drawn signature boards of famous manga artist are also worth a look.
◆ ◆ Need a break? Read a book in a Japanese retro café!
Jimbocho area isn't only famous for its bookstores, but also for its retro cafes. One of the most popular ones is the Sabouru, which is nestled in a back alley close to Jimbocho station. The cottage style café seems like a cozy cave and once you go in, you don't want to leave ever again. The settled lighting is just bright enough to read a book. Here, you get great coffee - but if you want to order the local's favorite, you should go for the strawberry juice!
◆ ◆ ◆
Stay tuned for more information about Jimbocho in the future!

Japan Part 5 Kanazawa Kimonos Castle Gardens Photography & More Rain
Music from the YouTube Audio Library - 'Atmospheria', Aurora Currents', 'Sao Meo Orchestral mix and 'Ferris Wheel'
It's a relatively short journey through numerous tunnels from Shiragawa-go to Kanazawa, where we have an overnight stay. We enter a gold leaf store, before exploring the streets in a traditional quarter of the city. This provides many opportunities for candid photography of the many girls wearing colourful kimono's.
The following day we tour the grounds of Kanazawa castle, then the beautiful Kenroku-en gardens, sadly though, in torrential rain!
Then it's off to Kanazawa railway station for our journey to Hiroshima. However a Typhoon is on its way - will we get there???

KAMAKURA - RISE AND FALL OF THE SHOGUNS Episode 3.
A Medieval History of Japan.
Episode 3: ZIPANGU - The Golden Age of Kamakura.
The third episode of this documentary series looks at the further development of the Kamakura Shogunate in the thirteenth century under the Hojo family. We look at how new forms of government, law and order, military tactics and populist Buddhist religious sects, and their golden statues and temples together ushered in an age of glory in Japan, which became not only the envy of the emperors of Kyoto, but also the powerful and ambitious leaders of the Mongol Empire, now just across the straits from the land of the rising sun....
