Kawasaki City ● 川崎
► Kawasaki is a small city with a population of 1.5 million, that is squeezed in between the megacities of Tokyo and Yokohama.
A few years ago, it had a reputation of being a boring bedtown with nothing much to do. Recently, that has all changed, and apart from Japanese restaurants and shops offering traditional Japanese goods, Kawasaki also has a european neighbourhood, which offers primarily italian and french cuisine. On top of that, there's also a really good, huge outlet mall of the kind you'd expect to find in the U.S.
Kawasaki City can be easily reached from Tokyo, just 15 minutes by train from Shingawa Station by Keihin Tohoku Line. - Enjoy!
Kawasaki City by Night ● 川崎の夜
► It's more than a year since I uploaded my last Kawasaki-video (which also happened to be my first) - So I thought it's time for a follow-up.
This time around, I visited in the evening, and although a small city compared to the neighbouring mega-cities of Tokyo and Yokohama, Kawasaki manage to offer something different, being a nice small big city with a local feeling to it.
I took a short evening-walk around the station area, these are my impressions. - Enjoy!

Inside Fujiko F Fujio Museum in Kawasaki City, Japan
On the ninth day in Japan, we visited the Fujiko F Fujio (Doraemon) Museum in Kawasaki City, before heading to our next destination, Ramen Museum, which located in Shin-Yokohama, Tokyo, Japan. My husband and I grew up with Doraemon, and we're a big fan of Doraemon, Nobita, Suneo, Giant and friends. We both read all the Doraemon comics since childhood. So, when we finally came to this museum, it was like a DREAM COME TRUE for both of us. This museum is very good and interesting; that's why I wanted to share my story with you guys here.
Remember that, there are no admission tickets on sale at the museum because they only sell the admission ticket via Loppi Machine that is available in many Lawson convenience store in Japan. The ¥1000 ticket should be purchased in advance (at least two days before). Read more on

Japan: Police intervene as anti-racism protesters face off nationalists in Kawasaki
Scuffles broke out as police tried to separate a protest against racism from a counter demonstration in the city of Kawasaki on Sunday.
Right wing activists had planned to be dropped off by a bus in Kawasaki, before marching through the streets. A counter demonstration foiled their plans through orchestrating a sit-in where the bus was headed and then forcing the demonstrators to get back on their bus.
The protest comes one month after the Kawasaki municipal government presented draft guidelines intended to prevent the dissemination of hate speech in public places.
The ruling would hand authorities the power to reject or revoke permission to use community facilities if the activities cause harm to those using the area or venue.

Knife-Wielding Man Attacks Schoolgirls in Kawasaki, Japan, Killing 2 and Injuring At Least 17
A man carrying a knife in each hand and screaming “I will kill you” attacked a group of schoolchildren waiting at a bus stop just outside Tokyo on Tuesday, wounding at least 19 people, including 13 children, Japanese authorities and media said.
The victims were lined up at a bus stop near Noborito Park in Kawasaki City when a man in his 40s or 50s attacked. NHK national television, quoting police, said that the suspect died after slashing himself in the neck. Police wouldn’t immediately confirm the report or provide or other specific details.
It wasn’t immediately clear how many others had died.
An official with the Kawasaki fire department told The Associated Press that one person had been killed. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak to the media. Some Japanese media outlets were reporting at least three deaths, while some were saying two, including the attacker.
Kyodo news agency reported that all 13 children who were stabbed were girls at a nearby private school in Kawasaki City.
A witness told the Mainichi newspaper that he heard children shrieking after walking past a bus, and when he turned around, he saw a man wielding a knife in each hand, screaming “I will kill you” and that several children were on the ground.
NHK, citing police, said that a bus driver told officials that a man holding a knife in each hand walked toward the bus and started slashing children. NHK also interviewed a witness who said he saw the suspect trying to force his way onto a bus.
The attacker’s identity and motives weren’t immediately known.
Television footage showed emergency workers giving first aid to people inside an orange tent set up on the street, and police and other officials carrying the injured to ambulances.
Although Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, it has had a series of high-profile killings, including in 2016 when a former employee at a home for the disabled allegedly killed 19 and injured more than 20 others.
In 2008, seven people were killed by a man who slammed a truck into a crowd of people in central Tokyo’s Akihabara electronics district and then stabbed passers-by.
Also in 2016, a man stabbed four people at a library in northeastern Japan, allegedly over their mishandling of his questions. No one was killed.

Japan stabbing spree kills 2 victims, including schoolgirl, in Kawasaki city
日 등굣길 초등생 덮친 흉기난동••• 현장 책가방 뒹굴어
One schoolgirl and a 39-year-old man have been killed in the attack by a knife-wielding man who attacked students at a bus stop in Kawasaki city, just outside Tokyo.
Seventeen others,... including girls between the ages of six and twelve were wounded.
They were attacked by a middle-aged man while waiting to board their school bus.
Due to this brutal act, innocent children and parents who have raised their children with much love have been harmed. We feel extreme anger and the deepest of sorrows.
The suspect died of a self-inflicted wound to his neck.
The motive for the attack remains unclear.

Walking in Musashi-Kosugi, Kawasaki, Japan - New Residential Area - 4K 60FPS
Musashi-kosugi is a residential neighbourhood in Kawasaki City, sandwiched between Tokyo and Yokohama, the two largest cities in Japan. It is located close to Tama-river, one of the biggest rivers in the Kanto region.
The area was a silent area seldom heard about until the late 2000s when a large scale redevelopment project took place and several high-rise residential towers transformed the landscape. For a while the rise in property prices around here was immense.
The fact that many important transportation hubs can be reached from here in less than 20 minutes makes it attractive, and a good choice for people working in either Tokyo, Yokohama or central Kawasaki.
These days, the buzz has faded and the area is once again rarely talked about. But I decided to take a look at it with my camera the other night. To be honest, it seemed quite boring. Everything felt new and clean but also quite sterile and soulless. I'm not sure if I personally would enjoy living at a place like this...
