Kayaking - Antelope Canyon (Lake Powell)
#antelopecanyon #kayaking #lakepowell
Antelope Canyon is often considered one of the most beautiful slot canyons in the world. But many people don't realize that the canyon extends into Lake Powell and is one of over ninety canyons you can kayak when visiting Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. All of which means one thing: Lake Powell with more than 2000 miles of shoreline, is one of the Best places to kayak in North America.
Begin by putting in at the Antelope Canyon Marina, then paddle west from the boat ramp and enter the first side canyon on the left. Depending on the water level you can paddle more than three miles up the canyon. Just remember if you want to exit your kayak and hike further to the most popular section of the canyon then you will need both a permit and a guide from the Navajo Nation.

Little Yellowstone, Little Lake Powell, & Little Grand Canyon in Duchesne County, UT
Did you know that you can visit national landmarks in the country by visiting just one county in Utah? Duchesne County has 3 Little landmarks - Little Yellowstone, Little Lake Powell (aka Starvation Reservoir), and Little Grand Canyon (aka Wrinkles Road)
ABOUT LITTLE YELLOWSTONE
Visit Little Yellowstone in Duchesne County. It doesn't have geysers, but you can ATV to it! It is called Little Yellowstone because of the yellow rock formations created by sulfur. There is a river by it that has awesome fishing as well. (Directions below)
What is really cool about this location is that you can climb and hike on and around the rock formations (be careful though, steep ledges and crumbly rock). The trail to get here is rocky but very short. Once you get to the overlook it is beautiful - looks very similar to Bryce Canyon formations.
LITTLE YELLOWSTONE DIRECTIONS:
- Turn north off Hwy 40 in Duchesne at the stop light onto state rd 87.
- Stay on 87 for approximately 15 1/2 miles then turn north(left) toward Mountain Home. Sign will read, Upper Stillwater, Rockcreek, Moon Lake.
- Continue on that road for approximately 8 miles then turn east(right) onto the Yellowstone Canyon road. Sign will read Yellowstone Canyon.
- Cross the bridge and turn north(left) and in approximately 4 1/2 miles you are at the atv trail head.
ABOUT LITTLE LAKE POWELL
Starvation Reservoir in Duchesne County, has been dubbed Little Lake Powell by visitors because of the warm and clear water, and sand cliff formations for cliff jumping.
THINGS TO DO AT STARVATION RESERVOIR:
There are sandy beaches close to or away from campgrounds. If you want to ATV, Knight Hollow campground allows you to camp and ATV at the same time, also close to the lake. There is also RV camping spots with hook-ups. They have a concession stand to rent PWC and boat rentals, water toys, water trampoline, paddle boards, and kayaks (
ABOUT LITTLE GRAND CANYON
Wrinkles Road in Duchesne County has been dubbed Little Grand Canyon. Its at the very bottom of Duchesne County and is not well known to even the locals. The land surronding is flat that opens up into a large canyon.
LITTLE GRAND CANYON DIRECTIONS:
- Approximately 1 mile west of Myton, turn south off of highway 40. Road sign says Pleasant Valley. Sandwash Boat Ramp, Nine Mile Canyon.
- Approximately 1 1/2 miles turn south west(right) . Road sign says Wellington, Wells Draw.
- Approximately 23 miles the pavement ends, continue on dirt road approximately 1 1/2 miles to Sandwash Boat Ramp intersection. Turn east(left).
- You are now on Wrinkles Road. It continues all the way to the Green River(the waterway not the town).

Aerial Video ???????????????? Tour Over Lake Powell
I took my mother and my lady out for a one-hour air tour on Mother's Day (May of 2019). It was an epic experience, with our excellent captain, Jack, at the controls. We saw many landmarks, and just a fraction of Lake Powell, from a bird's eye view. Previously, we had only boated on and swam in the lake.
Notice the new pathway and parking lot over Horseshoe Bend, and notice the unusually low water level of the lake -- which is only temporary. When we get to Rainbow Bridge, you'll have to look closely to see it, but it's in the center of the frame.
Get $15 off your air tour when you stay with us at Liberty Vacation Rentals! Ask for a coupon when you check-in.

Boondocking Lone Rock Beach | Antelope Canyon | Horseshoe Bend
This was our first time boondocking for this long (12 days)!
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Click Show More ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
First off, we're using the term boondocking to describe the camping style (no hookups), not the location. We have “mooch-docked” with family and friends for longer, but we always had some kind of partial hookup (15 amp, water, etc.)
We were both excited and nervous about this location because the Lone Rock Beach Campground is literally right on the beach and is pretty much a free-for-all (no sites just wide open)! Upon arrival, we quickly realized that we needed to unhook and leave the RV behind to scout out the best site and path to get there. A lot of the sand is packed pretty hard, but there were areas of soft, thick sand that we wanted to avoid!
We found an awesome spot to set up camp with an unobstructed view of the Lone Rock and Lake Powell and it was spectacular!! This is a dry camping, first-come-first-served campground, but there is a dump station and restrooms on-site. Keep in mind that ATT has zero coverage in this area (at least during the time we were there – May 2019) We connected via Verizon just fine, however. This is also a free-for-all type of atmosphere where dogs run free and people are constantly walking through your site. It’s definitely not a private RV Resort ????
The location of LRB Campground was fantastic for sightseeing. We got out on the motorcycle several times, drove out to Horseshoe Bend, took a tour of Antelope Canyon and also got out on a boat tour of Lake Powell! Our 12 days were action-packed and we made it the full 12 days without having to hitch up and drive to the dump! Whew!
We look forward to visiting that area again, but our time in Utah was not finished. After this stay, we headed to St. George to visit Tara’s uncle and to explore Zion National Park!

Cheap Backpacking Roadtrip USA - Horseshoe Bend & Antelope Canyon
If you LIKE the video, hit LIKE If you LOVE the video, SUBSCRIBE!
When you arrive with your backpack in the united states you will soon realize that distances are HUGE, and that you will need a vehicle to get around. Your options are pretty much;
a) lifting, which takes ages and can be dangerous in some areas but is FREE and can save you a ton of money!
b) rent a car, which is not expensive in the US but you will need to find daily accomodation, which in the end will make it expensive again!
c) rent an RV, expensive but luxurious, petrol bills will also kick in bad and takes pretty much the whole backpacking experience away.
d) OUR FAVORITE! A cool campervan! A much calculated decision from our side, we compared them all in full detail and this is your best t option. Much smaller than an RV, a little bigger than a car! Petrol bills are OK, can park (and camp) in regular parking spaces. No need for extra accomodation costs if you don't want to. Urban camping, often referred to as guerilla camping can be a rush. It's sort of illegal in most areas, but cops or rangers don't really seem to care. Not once have they bothered us in one month of traveling around the states!
Also, you are free to camp at WallMart! They don't mind as long as you get your groceries / breakfast / coffee there.
I will post a video with a detailed overview of all expenses and tips soon, make sure you subscribe if you don't want to miss it!

How to Find The Chains Swimming Area // Lake Powell
Hey everyone! Adam here. Glad you joined this adventure! Real quick... I'm still growing my channel, so a LIKE and a SHARE from you really helps me out.
One of my favorite places to swim at Lake Powell is called The Chains, next to the Glen Canyon Dam, in Page Arizona. This place got its name from a chain buoy that stretches across the water to prevent boats from approaching the dam.
In this video, I show you on the map how to get there, and then some live action cliff jumps and swimming.
The water is about 550 feet deep! Lots of swimmers and cliff jumpers will be here during summer time, and if you want a polar bear swim in the winter, I've got good news... the water never freezes!
