Keelung Sign or Huzishan Keelung Landmark (Taiwan)
The Keelung sign (Huzishan Keelung Landmark / 虎仔山基隆地標) is one of the city’s major landmarks. The history of the sign is somewhat of a mystery, but locals say it was built in 2006. The sign can be seen prominently from many parts of the city and overlooks Keelung Port. If you’re coming from Keelung Port, head to Keelung Station. Leave the train station and walk across Zhongshan 1st Rd. The trail is marked by signs and is called the Huzi Mountain Trail. It winds between a quiet neighborhood up a steep hill to the sign.

Taiwan Railways is expected to inaugurate new Keelung Station next Monday
Taiwan Railways will open the new Keelung Station on Monday. The station took five years to construct and was built at a total cost of NT$2.6 billion. It promises to become an area landmark based upon its stylish modern design and high-tech energy saving equipment. Keelung’s new station will require track conversion work to be performed this Saturday and Sunday. This will mean a suspension of train service between Keelung and Badu with passengers wishing to travel from Keelung to Chidu or Badu required to take a free shuttle bus service.

Taipei Main Station can be extremely confusing to anyone including long time residents. I've tried to keep instructions on how to navigate the huge complex simple and if you follow the advice I give, mainly just using the signs above you for directions you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting around. I focused on the Taipei Main Station building where you'll find places to eat, shop, buy train tickets, the Airport MRT, the bus station located at the East Side of the main building, and the other MRT lines. If you are wanting to travel by bus to other parts of Taiwan including the Eastcoast, Central, and Southern Taiwan, then you'll need to go to Q Square where buses serve these regions of the island.
If you want to learn more about the Taipei Metro system and the Taoyuan Airport MRT then watch these videos:

Detailed Tour of Zhongxiao Fuxing 忠孝復興 ( ✈️Travel ????????Taiwan Series Day 10)
Day 10 of the ✈️ Travel Taiwan Series. Be part of the journey:
(Timestamps are below.)
0:10 Beginning at Zhongxiao Fuxing exit #2 and going all the way to Zhongxiao Dunhua Exit #7
0:40 Dumpling shop in Zhongxiao Fuxing! Name of the place is 老蔡水煎包 and it's located at: 106, Taiwan, Taipei City, Da’an District, 台北市大安區忠孝東路三段301號
2:40 Taoist temple area. Name of the place is 福佑宮 and address is No. 32號, Andong Street, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
3:47 Having a feast with the local Taiwanese seniors. There was a huge tent and a feast going on. I assume it was because Chinese New Year was only a few days away. This was also near the Taoist temple at Andong Street.
6:11 The pastry shop. The name of the place is 同心圓水晶紅豆餅 and is located in: No. 133, Section 1, Fuxing South Road, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
6:30 The pastry shop that has a lot of variety. The name of the shop is Charlie Brown (查理布朗) and is located in: No. 123, Section 1, Fuxing South Road, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
7:09 Continue walking down to Lane 107, Section 1, Fuxing S Rd
7:30 Dumpling shop! They don't focus on just dumplings, but I only go to this place for their boiled dumplings or 水饺. The name of the place is called 豪季水餃專賣店 豪季水餃 and it's located at 106, Taiwan, Taipei City, Da’an District, 台北市大安區復興南路一段107巷39號
9:37 This is the place I mentioned that served a variety of cooked meats, in which you can see them hanging from the window. They also serve rice and vegetables with it, but I would typically just get their sausages. It's a Cantonese restaurant and the name of the place 香港新味燒臘店 and it's located at No. 43號, Lane 107, Section 1, Fuxing S Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
9:54 The first time I've ever tried fresh, boiled dumplings was in Taiwan and it was at this restaurant. It shouldn't come as an unfamiliar place, as this was the first restaurant that was shown on Day 0 of the Travel Taiwan Series. The dumplings is where it's at. This place is also open 24 hours and you can see them actually make the food right before you. Due to it's 24 hours, it's the place I've frequented the most, as I had 24 hour access to dumplings whenever I wanted. That is a dream. lol. Anyways, the name of the restaurant is 小林麵食館 and it's located at No. 28號, Section 1, Da'an Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106.
11:30 Traditional Taiwanese noodle and soup restaurant. The Taiwanese rice soup was quite interesting but too salty for me. I was more of a fan of the Oyster Vermicelli they had. The name of the place is 通化街米粉湯 and is located at No. 10號, Section 1, Da'an Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
13:05 My favorite local restaurant in Taipei (shown on Day 5 of the Travel Taiwan Series). I like how the food tasted very homemade, how they don't rush, and how it's quite quiet, as it's not overly packed with people, typically. The name of the restaurant is 可口豬肝湯麻醬麵 and the address is: 106, Taiwan, Taipei City, Da’an District, 台北市大安區大安路一段51巷8號1樓
14:25 Bakery shop in Taipei. Unlike the two pastry shops mentioned, this place serves more than just sweet bread, but also cakes, cookies, Taiwanese specialties, pies, etc. The name of the place is Shun Chen Bakery 順成蛋糕 and it's located at No. 212號, Section 1, Dunhua South Road, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
15:09 Speaking with you regarding this video. I felt more like a tour guide in this video, which is quite different from the rest of the videos in this series. What did you think of it?

A Keelung pedestrian overpass collapses on to train platform
A 37-year Zhongshan Road pedestrian overpass collapsed at noon on Saturday. One woman was injured as part of the overpass fell onto a railway platform below. Taiwan Railway power lines were affected with six trains being canceled and 42 trains delayed, affecting around 10,000 passengers. A city councilor criticized city officials as being lazy in their negligence and failure to repair the old bridge. The Keelung Mayor said frequent earthquakes in the area could have displaced bridge piers leading to the unfortunate accident. After a night of repair, workers cleared much of the overpass which had collapsed onto the train platform. Temporary steel supports have also been added for the remaining portions of the overpass. Yesterday afternoon, this pedestrian overpass suddenly collapsed, with b
Taipei YouBike RIDE w/ OLD TEMPLES, KEELUNG RIVER, SONGSHAN
Went on a little bike ride from MRT Yuanshan Station to Songshan Railway Station, on the way visiting Confucius Temple, Bao'an Temple, Taipei Expo Park, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei Story House, Xinsheng Park Area, Lin An-tai Historical House and Museum, Dajia Riverside Park, Keelung River, Rainbow Bridge, Songshan Ciyou Temple, and Raohe Street Night Market.

Yuanshan Park Area
East of MRT Yuanshan Station lies the Taipei Expo Park, which served as venue for the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition. Many of the flower gardens and buildings created for the expo remain, and can still be enjoyed.
There you can also visit Maji Square, which in recent times has become one of Taipei’s hippest hangouts. The airy covered square includes an upscale grocery, a bagel shop, an “international food street”, featuring French, Mexican, Indian, Korean, Japanese, Thai and, of course, Taiwanese snack foods, a merry-go-round, the Triangle nightclub, a craft beer shop, a creative market, and restaurant-pubs.
Fine Arts Park Area
Continuing beyond Maji Square, you’ll pass the Pavilion of New Fashion, an imposing structure constructed of bamboo and PET bottles. Crossing Zhongshan North Road will then take you into the Fine Arts Park Area. Head left to visit the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, one of the city’s best museums. Beside its entrance area you’ll also find the Taipei Story House, a restored British Tudor-style mansion in which various exhibits are staged.
To complete your tour of Taipei Expo Park, cycle through the fairytale-like Floral Tunnel and over the eco-friendly Solar Bridge, then cross Xinsheng North Road to reach the third section, the Xinsheng Park Area. Here you’ll encounter wide-open spaces, more flower displays, a botanical garden, and the Pavilion of Dreams, home to a café that is a fine spot to stop for a drink.
Lin An Tai Historical House & Museum
North of the Pavilion of Dreams, cross Binjiang Street to reach the Lin An Tai Historical House & Museum, a gorgeously restored traditional south Fujian courtyard-style residence. If the complex seems oddly situated, that’s because decades ago it was saved from destruction in its original location on Siwei Road, and rebuilt here.
Dajia Riverside Park
Next, follow Lane 5 beside the complex to reach the Lin An Tai Evacuation Gate (No. 10 Water Gate), through which you can access Dajia Riverside Park. This lovely green expanse on the southern bank of the Keelung River between Zhongshan and Dazhi bridges is renowned as the venue for the annual Spring Wave Music and Art Festival and Taipei’s Dragon Boat Festival races. If lucky, you’ll get to see dragon-boat paddlers practicing near Dazhi Bridge.
This park also features a 75-meter-high water fountain which, when running, is a sight to behold, with the iconic Grand Hotel in the background across the river.
Rainbow Bridge
The path is flat for most of this journey, so you’ll barely break into a sweat before reaching the Rainbow Bridge. Pedestrian-only Rainbow Bridge is not in fact rainbow-colored; it is red, featuring a steel arch that is likened to the shape of a dragon leaping the river. This is a pretty spot to watch the sunset, and couples might have trouble resisting the temptation to take a romantic selfie beside the large steel sculpture of the word “LOVE” by the riverside path, with the illuminated bridge in the background.
Songshan Ciyou Temple
Before entering the 600-meter-long street in which the market is set up in the evening, you’ll want to first pop into Songshan Ciyou Temple, Taipei’s most renowned temple devoted to Mazu, Goddess of the Sea. The premises feature over a hundred deity statues, spread over six floors, with the ones at the top being the most impressive. The temple was recently restored, with a colorful new frieze added to the sides and back of the main Mazu shrine on the first floor.
Raohe Street Tourist Night Market
This night market is one of Taipei’s most famous, and many visitors say that it feels more authentic and less touristy than some of the bigger ones. The market’s most famous stall, evidenced by the long lineup even before the rest of the market really gets going, is Fuzhou Shizu Black Pepper Buns, right at the east-end entrance near the temple. At the center, another popular choice is Chen Dong Ribs Stewed in Medicinal Herbs.

Taipei- Part 1/3 (ZHONGZHENG)
This time, Brian explores the chaotic streets of modern Taipei, where despite the fast-paste 21st lifestyle, pieces of the traditional past can still be found.
Brian takes you through 5 of the city's major districts, both the trendy and less trendy as he discovers both the modern and traditional Taipei.
In Part 1, Brian explores the district of Zhongzheng, home to the city's most popular tourist attractions.

Walking Around Taipei - Taiwan's Capital City [4K60]
This 4K walk takes us around Taipei which is the capital city of Taiwan. I start off in front of my hotel in the Zhongzheng district. I walk down to Peace Park, past the East Gate and into Liberty Square. From there I head over to the President Hall and up past the Ximen area to the North Gate and loop back to my hotel. I only got to spend a few days in Taipei but it's a fantastic city and it was great to be back as the last time I was here was over 10 years ago. I do have a few more videos from Taipei which I'll upload later on as well as some from Khaoshiung which is the second largest city in Taiwan located in the south end of the country. In case you were wondering the hotel I stayed at is the Relax 5 and as long as you don't mind the smallish rooms it represents excellent value in an ideal location.
