(2:16) The birds area.
We start with the Harris Hawk enjoying a meal. Is a medium sized bird of prey found in the southwestern United States south to Chile, central Argentina and south Brazil. They like small mammals, birds, lizards and large insects.
Next, we move to catch the Great Horned Owl which is one of the largest Owls in North and South America. It uses it's night vision and strong grip to hunt rodents, rabbits, birds and small mammals during the hours of darkness.
Of course, the Turkey Vulture. Always there when we go to animal related places. Found in North America and from south Mexico to South America, these scavengers use their eyesight and sense of smell to zoom in on animal carcasses.
The Emu is a bird second in size to the Ostrich, and are only found in Australia. Can run up to 35 MPH and like grass, bugs, seeds, fruits, buckwheat and tiny animals.
(3:45) Other wild life area.
Found in South America, the Llama is an intelligent and social animal with a wool very soft and lanolin-free. They like mountain vegetation.
Also from South America, the Alpaca is known for their fiber. Used to make a variety of clothing as well as textiles, ponchos and bedding items. Mainly like hay and grasses.
From the Sahara Desert and Arabian Peninsula comes the Dromedary Camel. It's single, 80 pound fat storage capable hump, allows it to travel up to a formidable 100 miles in desert lands! They are herbivores.
(5:31) The cats area.
Bobtcats are telling loners. They live in a variety of terrain types from southern Canada to central Mexico to include most of the US. Rabbits and Hares are their favorites.
Bengal and Orange Bengal Tigers. These dominant and carnivorous predators have the largest canine teeth of all subspecies. From India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Burma, they are on the lookout for larger animals to hunt.
The Siberian Tiger, mostly from the southeast region of Russia, is second to none in size, and resides at the top of the food chain. Unfortunately, these elk, boar, bear and deer hunters are an endangered species.
Finally, the Liger is a hybrid between a male lion and a female tiger! Since their habitats don't overlap, they live only in captivity. They can grow up to twice their parents, making them the largest of cats! They eat beef, and lots of it!
(7:45) The Primates area.
White Faced Capuchin. Found from Central to South America. Known for creating tools for use as weapon and to get foot. Can jump up to 9 feet! They know how to catch frogs and crack nuts.
Brown Capuchin is also intelligent, but very wary of birds of prey. They find comfort and security on high trees during the night. Can eat fruits, vegetation, eggs, insects, frogs lizards, small birds and bats.
Finally, the Bonnet Macaque. A member of the Old World monkeys. An excellent swimmer that inhabits wet and dry evergreen forests. Similar diet to Capuchins.
(9:09) Guided Safari Tiger feeding tour!
Tour guide introduces himself before explaining the purpose of the Keepers of the Wild park. We head off to see him feed the tigers along with a staff member while sharing info about them and their diet!

Keepers of the Wild - Photo Presentation from Podcast #9
Last month we headed out of Las Vegas, drove out past Kingman, Arizona on Historic Route 66 to visit Keepers of The Wild. An Exotic Animal Rescue/Sanctuary.
This is a photo presentation of our podcast #9
The sanctuary/park started operating in Las Vegas, NV in 1995 and relocated to Mohave County Arizona more than 12 years ago. First at White Hills, AZ on 32 acres of land just across the Hoover Dam and then they moved to their current location in Valentine, AZ. The current location sits on 175 acres of land with room to expand. They have over 145 exotic and indigenous wild animals that were rescued or placed with them by other animal welfare agencies.

Trying to find love in Valentine, Arizona
There is a spot in the state you would think would be full of love but Valentine, Arizona didn't live up to its name.
Baby Wallaby
Peek-A-Boo Surprise!
We recently discovered that one of the wallabies we rescued from the Las Vegas Zoo has a little joey on board. When we rescued the wallabies in September of 2013, all the males in the troupe were neutered.
Apparently, wallabies have a very interesting reproduction method. It is called Delayed Implantation or Embryonic Diapause. This means that the female can hold the embryo in a state of dormancy. The purpose of this is to avoid risk to their own lives during unfavorable and/or environmental conditions. When the conditions are good/favorable, the female can release the embryo and care for the joey properly.
We want to make it clear that we do not breed at Keepers of the Wild; however, if a rescue animal comes to us in that condition we will always do our best to provide all the necessary care and attention!
We are happy to welcome this new baby into the Keepers of the Wild family.

GoPro: Chaos & Cyrus Caracal Treats
Keeper Brittany shows you an example of simple operant conditioning with Chaos & Cyrus Caracal. Chaos has always been more shy and timid of the two who were rescued together from living their lives as breeding stock in Ohio. Cyrus started to become more outgoing and friendly a few months after arriving, while Chaos still remains very reserved. When it comes to our Operant Conditioning Program - Chaos has exceeded our expectations and has come out of her shell, which is very important for medical reasons. As you will see with Cyrus though, he becomes a totally different cat when food or treats are involved. We are lucky he is outgoing and very food motivated but he is not ideal for the Operant program. We continue to feed him in Lockout using the guillotine door system, or will toss him treats but he is too aggressive to use a feeding stick or to regularly participate in Operant Conditioning.
Big Cat Rescue’s Animal Training Program is based on operant conditioning. Operant conditioning is a type of learning in which behaviors are altered by the consequences that follow them. The behaviors are not forced, but “caught”, reinforced and therefore trained. We train only natural behaviors, no entertainment types of behaviors.
Operant Conditioning can:
Reduce the stress loads imposed by captivity
Enhance keeper safety
Facilitate routine care
Improve animal welfare
Enrich the animal and volunteer experience
Big Cat Rescue’s Operant Training Program is intended for:
Eliciting calm behavior from each of our animals while they are in the presence of their keepers and veterinary staff
Training behaviors that are dependable regardless of the trainer present
Providing mental stimulation for our animals
Enabling safe emergency and non-emergency transportation of the animals
Providing public education

_____________
The film opens with a trio of Dungeons & Dragons characters facing the final villain. However, they are quickly killed and after blaming each other, the players (Cass, Leo, and Gary) blame the game master, Lodge, claiming he did not follow the rules and plotted against them. While Leo and Gary wish to play a different game the following week, Cass demands to play the same campaign again, even though they just played it and lost for the second time, to preserve his reputation that there is no game he cannot win. Lodge wishes to publish his campaign as an official Dungeons & Dragons game module, but he is having trouble writing it: he knows how he wants it to end, but his players never actually finish the module. Gary suggests that for the next game they bring in two more players, in order to have a more well-rounded party. Cass is able to recruit his ex-girlfriend Joanna, and quickly reveals why they split: Cass is overbearing and condescending, belittling Joanna's character design strategy (she chose several abilities that normally wouldn't be useful to her character). The group has otherwise acquired an unfavourable reputation, and Lodge is unable to find anyone else, despite asking fifteen regular gamers.

THE MADNESS FALL TOUR 2015:
The Great Gildersleeve: Marshall Bullard's Party / Labor Day at Grass Lake / Leroy's New Teacher
The Great Gildersleeve (1941--1957), initially written by Leonard Lewis Levinson, was one of broadcast history's earliest spin-off programs. Built around Throckmorton Philharmonic Gildersleeve, a character who had been a staple on the classic radio situation comedy Fibber McGee and Molly, first introduced on Oct. 3, 1939, ep. #216. The Great Gildersleeve enjoyed its greatest success in the 1940s. Actor Harold Peary played the character during its transition from the parent show into the spin-off and later in a quartet of feature films released at the height of the show's popularity.
On Fibber McGee and Molly, Peary's Gildersleeve was a pompous windbag who became a consistent McGee nemesis. You're a haa-aa-aa-aard man, McGee! became a Gildersleeve catchphrase. The character was given several conflicting first names on Fibber McGee and Molly, and on one episode his middle name was revealed as Philharmonic. Gildy admits as much at the end of Gildersleeve's Diary on the Fibber McGee and Molly series (Oct. 22, 1940).
He soon became so popular that Kraft Foods—looking primarily to promote its Parkay margarine spread — sponsored a new series with Peary's Gildersleeve as the central, slightly softened and slightly befuddled focus of a lively new family.
Premiering on August 31, 1941, The Great Gildersleeve moved the title character from the McGees' Wistful Vista to Summerfield, where Gildersleeve now oversaw his late brother-in-law's estate and took on the rearing of his orphaned niece and nephew, Marjorie (originally played by Lurene Tuttle and followed by Louise Erickson and Mary Lee Robb) and Leroy Forester (Walter Tetley). The household also included a cook named Birdie. Curiously, while Gildersleeve had occasionally spoken of his (never-present) wife in some Fibber episodes, in his own series the character was a confirmed bachelor.
In a striking forerunner to such later television hits as Bachelor Father and Family Affair, both of which are centered on well-to-do uncles taking in their deceased siblings' children, Gildersleeve was a bachelor raising two children while, at first, administering a girdle manufacturing company (If you want a better corset, of course, it's a Gildersleeve) and then for the bulk of the show's run, serving as Summerfield's water commissioner, between time with the ladies and nights with the boys. The Great Gildersleeve may have been the first broadcast show to be centered on a single parent balancing child-rearing, work, and a social life, done with taste and genuine wit, often at the expense of Gildersleeve's now slightly understated pomposity.
Many of the original episodes were co-written by John Whedon, father of Tom Whedon (who wrote The Golden Girls), and grandfather of Deadwood scripter Zack Whedon and Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog).
The key to the show was Peary, whose booming voice and facility with moans, groans, laughs, shudders and inflection was as close to body language and facial suggestion as a voice could get. Peary was so effective, and Gildersleeve became so familiar a character, that he was referenced and satirized periodically in other comedies and in a few cartoons.
