Kerry Gathering TV, Kenmare Gangs of New York Gathering Festival, 30th Aug-1st Sept 2013.
KG.TV were in Kenmare to capture The Gangs of New York Gathering festival, a 3 to 4 day event in honor of all those who emigrated shortly after the famine in the mid 1840's. This gathering event was to mark their achievement of travelling for a new life and to bring together all the people whose ancestors travelled. Many of the Kenmare emigrants starving and destitute (drawn from the estate areas of Bonane, Kenmare, Tuosist, Lauragh, Kilgarvan and Templenoe) ended up living in the Five Points area of New York on Manhattan's lower east side. One of the most famous people of this lineage was Congressman Big Tim Sullivan whose parents were Lansdowne tenants -- he succeeded in naming a street in Manhattan, Kenmare Street in honour of his Mother. The weekend hosted many events including guided historical walks around the main points of interest on the Lansdowne estate. A play in the Carnegie Arts Centre depicting life in the 1850′s and the story of the emigration programme instituted by WS Trench. The showing in the Carnegie Arts Centre of Sean De Morda's 'The Land is Gold' documentary about Kenmare and the Lansdowne estate. A specifically designed heritage centre display telling the story of Kenmare and the Lansdowne Estate. A genealogy road show bus was in the town for at least part of the festival providing resources for the visitors to further trace their family history.

Seafari Voyage Kenmare Bay Ireland
Last October, Marianne and I took a second voyage onboard Seafari. Once again we had a most wonderful time & experienced the good fortune of a bright & balmy autumn day on beautiful “Kenmare River”. Captain Ray is a gracious host, engaging naturalist and & quite the storyteller. We Floated in Kenmare Bay, inside the landscape surrounded by wildlife & feeling sublime. The grog was warming, tea and coffee hot and the snacks were yummy. Three cheers for Oien Furlong first-mate & his seafaring harmonica playing. We had another brilliant day! Thanks again Captain Ray.

Swanwood Travels to Adare Desmond Castle 9.6.18
Day 4 of our Ireland Adventure. We left our lakeside cottage rental on Lough Derg to head to the mountainside of Kenmare. On our way to Kenmare, we stopped at the Adare Demond Castle and it surely didn't disappoint.
We arrived at the visitor center just minutes after the last tour left on the bus. The receptionist phoned the tour guide and asked her to wait for us. We were able to drive through the gates of the castle like royalty and join the tour just a few minutes late.
While it rained through much of the tour, our spirits were lifted by the enthusiasm and knowledge of our tour guide. We learned so much and enjoyed the history of the community. The 500 year old yew trees in the courtyard absolutely took my breath away...a sight to behold!

Tea Party Dance - HalloWonderland | Kenmare Halloween Howl | Theatre Games Ireland
If you are invited to the Mad Hatter's tea party you can't help but want to dance. Our junior actors put so much hard work into their performance and it was an audience favourite for sure. Here's a small clip from the HalloWonderland show we did at the Carnegie Arts Centre during Kenmare's Halloween Howl 2017. Everyone had a great time dancing and singing.

Kenmare is a haven of tranquillity, gourmet food, superb accommodation and breathtaking scenery in one of the most natural, unspoilt environments in Europe. Cradled in the heart of Kenmare Bay, the picturesque town of Kenmare is the perfect location from which to discover the South West of Ireland, linking the internationally famous Ring of Kerry with the rugged Ring of Beara.
Founded in 1670, though many generations have passed since then, the unique charm and inherent beauty of the town remains unchanged. The Tourist Board, Bórd Fáilte, officially recognised the historical, cultural and environmental significance of Kenmare by bestowing upon it the title of Kerry's first Heritage Town.
The Ring of Kerry, known all over the world, follows the coastline of the Iveragh peninsula. It is one of the most dramatic scenic drives in the country and makes a most exciting day tour. Along the 175km route are picturesque villages, an abundance of historical landmarks, sandy coves and beaches.
To the north of Kenmare is the Killarney National Park, 10,000 hectares of woodland and magical mountains, with spectacular views of the lakes of Killarney.
The unspoiled Ring of Beara lies to the south of Kenmare. Its rugged beauty is beyond compare, traffic is minimal and it abounds with archeological sites and spectacular views.
Whether it is walking on the mountains, cruising on the bay, horse riding, golfing, fishing, touring or soaking up the best of music you will not be disappointed in Kenmare

אירלנד, טבעת קרי 7.8.2012, חלק ב' IRELAND, RING OF KERRY
The Ring of Kerry (Irish: Mórchuaird Chiarraí) is a tourist trail in County Kerry, south-western Ireland. The route covers the 179 km circular road (N70, N71, and R562 road), starting from Killarney, heading around the Iveragh Peninsula and passing through Kenmare, Sneem, Waterville, Cahersiveen and Killorglin. Popular points include Muckross House (near Killarney), Staigue stone fort and Derrynane House, home of Daniel O'Connell. Just south of Killarney, Ross Castle, Lough Leane, and Ladies View (a panoramic viewpoint), all located within Killarney National Park, are major attractions located along the Ring. A more complete list of major attractions along the Ring of Kerry includes: Gap of Dunloe, Bog Village, Rossbeigh Beach, Cahersiveen Heritage Centre, Derrynane House, Skellig Experience, Staigue Fort, Kenmare Lace, Moll's Gap, Ladies View, Torc Waterfall, Muckross House, The Blue Pool, Ross Castle, Ogham Stones, St Mary's Cathedral, Muckross Abbey, Franciscan Friary, Kellegy Church, O'Connell Memorial Church, Sneem Church and Cemetery, Skellig Michael, Beehive Cells and the Stone Pillars marking an important grave.[1]
There is also an established walking path named The Kerry Way, which takes its own route, and a signposted Ring of Kerry cycling path which uses older quieter roads where possible. The Kerry Way roughly follows the scenic driving route of the Ring of Kerry.
There are numerous variations to the route taking in St. Finian's Bay and Valentia Island which the official driving ring misses (the official cycling route takes in Valentia Island). As well as some fine beaches, it also offers the Gap of Dunloe, Bog Village, Derrynane House, the Skellig Experience Valentia Island, Molls Gap, Torc Waterfall, Muckross House and Ross Castle.[2]
The Ring is a popular day trip and numerous bus companies offer trips during the summer months. As the narrow roads make it difficult for tour coaches to pass, all tour buses run in an anti-clockwise (or counter-clockwise) direction, traveling via Killorglin first. It is recommended that car owners travel in the opposite direction, going first to Kenmare to avoid delays caused by tour buses. In 2008 satellite navigation systems were blamed for directing bus drivers in a clockwise direction around the route.[3]
