Sweet Bay Bright Beginnings is a newly opened childcare center located at 201 Love Point Rd, Stevensville, MD. Sweet Bay Bright Beginnings was developed by a local childcare provider who saw the need in the community for quality childcare. Bright Beginnings has a fantastic staff with over 35 years of combined teaching and extensive childcare experience. Bright Beginnings specializes in children with behavioral challenges but is certainly not limited to that. With a capacity of 34 children & 6 staff, we offer low child to staff ratios for a more individualized childcare experience. We also have a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, a Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and a Psychiatrist on staff to assist with any of the child’s individual needs.
Our days consist of Circle Time, Free Play, Outside Activities, Fun Themed Days, Small Group Activities, and weekly visits from Mr. Andy with Busy Bodies along with Mr. Pat, who works with Self Defense of America.
We are now open and accepting enrollment for children, ages 2 to 5. Our Hours of Operation are 6:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday thru Friday.

Kent Island, Maryland
Kent Island is the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay, and a historic place in Maryland. To the east, a narrow channel known as the Kent Narrows barely separates the island from the Delmarva Peninsula, and on the other side, the island is separated from Sandy Point, an area near Annapolis, by roughly four miles (6.4 km) of water. At only four miles wide, the main waterway of the bay is at its narrowest at this point and is spanned here by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The Chester River runs to the north of the island and empties into the Chesapeake Bay at Kent Island's Love Point. To the south of the island lies Eastern Bay. The United States Census Bureau reports that the island has 31.62 square miles (81.90 km2) of land area.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland reaches nearly 200 feet in certain parts and measures 4.3-miles long from end to end - and for some motorists, getting behind the wheel and driving across the bridge is simply out of the question.

2 missing after helicopter crash near Kent Island, Md.
The Coast Guard and several other emergency crews are searching for two men who went missing after their plane crashed near Kent Island. The crash was reported to Queen Anne's County 911 center around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Officials say debris from the plane was found near Maryland's Eastern Bay about 1 mile south of Kent Island.

Excerpts of Kent Island, Maryland Legacy of Slavery Presentation
A talk me and my colleague Tanner Sparks gave to 14 interested persons in the Queen Anne's County Free Library in Stevensville, on Kent Island, Maryland. My portion concerned freedom petitions and how slaves used matrilineal descent to invalidate their bondage in the legal system. The complete video video was created by librarian Kristin Bombard using a still camera, edited by me, and is the result of my work with The HistoryMakers: Mentoring, Training and Placement Institute IMLS fellowship at the Maryland State Archives.

Coast Guard Searching For Missing Man Near Kent Island
The Coast Guard and Maryland authorities are searching for a 65-year-old man whose boat was found aground on the southern end of Kent Island Thursday around 3 p.m.
