Badlands National Park is located in Southwest South Dakota. It consists of a badland type of weathering landscape that seemed unsuitable for agriculture, hence the name Badlands - bad land. In addition to this weathering landscape, the largest protected grass prairie belongs to the national park. The film The Wolf dances with Kevin Costner in the lead role in 1990 was largely filmed in the National Park and its surroundings. With bisons, bighorn sheep, mule deer, Whitetail deer and Gabelböcken live five large ungulate species in the park.

Der Badlands-Nationalpark liegt im Südwesten South Dakotas. Er besteht aus einem als Badlands bezeichneten Typ von Verwitterungslandschaft, die für Landwirtschaft denkbar ungeeignet schien, daher der Name Badlands – schlechtes Land. Neben dieser Verwitterungslandschaft gehört auch die größte geschützte Gras-Prärie zum Nationalpark. Der Film Der mit dem Wolf tanzt mit Kevin Costner in der Hauptrolle wurde 1990 zu großen Teilen im Nationalpark und dessen Umgebung gedreht.Mit Bisons, Dickhornschafen, Maultierhirschen, Weißwedelhirschen und Gabelböcken leben fünf große Huftierarten im Park.

Our trip to South Dakota was marvelous! Starting with the Needles Eye rock in Custer Nat'l Park, Mt Rushmore, the Buffalo Jump in Bronze commissioned by Kevin Costner, a hailstorm (4 inches) in Deadwood, the 70th Anniversary Sturgis motorcycle rally (500,00+ cycles), bisons, burros, pronged horn deer, prairie dog town, an original sod house, wild mustangs, petroglyphs the Badlands and more.
