The Christ Statue - Key Largo Dry Rocks
Along with Molasses Reef, the Christ statue is one of the most visited dive spots in Key Largo. This 9-foot tall bronze statue of Christ rests in 25 feet of water, and was created by Italian sculptor Guido Galletti. It was donated to John Pennekamp Park in 1965. Christ of the Deep is a copy of the Christ of the Abyss statue, which resides in the Mediterranean Sea near Genoa, Italy. This reef is excellent for both scuba diving and snorkeling, and part of the reef comes out of the water at low tide.

Key Largo — First of the Florida Keys!
Key Largo, called the first of the Florida Keys, because of its northernmost location along the Florida Keys chain, is an hour's drive from South Florida's two major airports. Yet it is a world away.
Home to two state parks, a national park, a national marine sanctuary, Key Largo boasts some of the most fascinating botanical scenery in the state.

==================================================
The Christ of the Abyss statue was originally crafted by an Italian artist, Guido Galletti, in commemorate of Dario Gonzatti, the first Italian diver to use the SCUBA gear, who died in 1947. The Key Largo's one was presented to the Underwater Society of America in New York in 1962. The statue was placed in Key Largo in 1965, about 25 feet underwater, as a peace gesture to divers and sea adventurers alike.

2 Sharks | Reef snorkeling at Key Largo, Florida | Christ of the Abyss
This was my second time snorkeling at the Keys. We started of the John Pennekamp Beach, which is famous for a shipwreck , which sank there a couple of hundred years ago. By boat we came to the undersea park, which features approximately 178 nautical square miles of coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove swamps. There is possibly every fish species which exist in whole Florida, but i din`t consider sharks, because we were going out there in the afternoon and there have already been many ships before us. First of all I checkt out the Christ of the Abyss statue, which was imported from Italy and set up at this spot in 1962. After a while snorkeling around, I went further and further away from the group and suddenly there was he, a bull shark. This was my second contact with a shark, and again he impressed me. Sharks are so great, this one was like 10 feet /3,5m, but even so they can move so quickly or attack you. I hope you enjoyed my video; like and subscribe and have a nice day!
