Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary Award Winning Documentary, Hidden Wilderness of Madhya Pradesh
This wildlife documentary is based on the hidden wilderness of KHEONI wildlife sanctuary of Madhya Pradesh, this shot film also promotes the importance of protection and conservation of nature and wildlife.
Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary, is a wildlife sanctuary located in Kannod Tehsil of Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. It is spread over an area of 132 square km. This park is in the process to be declared as the Project Tiger tiger reserve in coming years. It is connected to Ratapani Tiger Reserve through corridors. The dry deciduous forest consists of teak, tendu and bamboo. The sanctuary has rich forest cover, small streams, hills, valleys and waterfalls. It also has a presence of tigers, which have apparently migrated from Ratapani and colonized Kheoni. Leopards are present in significant numbers. Other commonly found carnivores are jungle cats, jackals and striped hyena. The dominant herbivore species are nilgai, blackbuck, chinkara and chital (spotted deer). Sambar, wild boar, spotted deer, four-horned antelope, and palm civet are also present but rarely sighted.
According to the recent bird survey concluded in April, 2018, in which around 32 participants from Indore, Dewas, Ujjain and Bhopal, Kheoni has around 125 species of birds, including the state bird of Madhya Pradesh Indian paradise flycatcher. The other birds in abundance are plum-headed parakeet, Eurasian collared dove, laughing dove, chestnut shouldered petronia, common crow and black drongo.

Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary, is located in Kannod range of Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. It is spread over an area of 134 square km. It has connected to Ratapani and bhopa lTiger Reserve area through its corridors. Teak, tendu and bamboo are the major trees in the forest. The sanctuary have hills, valleys and waterfalls. Tigers and Leopards are present in significant numbers. Other commonly found carnivores are jungle cats, jackals and hyena. देवास जिले के कन्नौद तहसील के खिवनी अभ्यारण के समीप ग्राम कालीबाई -पटरानी के बीच में मंगलवार को एक ग्रामीण पर तेंदवे ने हमला कर घायल कर दिया , घटना के समय पीड़ित कालू ग्राम के रास्ते से निकलकर जा रहा था ,इसी दौरान घात लगा कर झाड़ियो में चुप कर बैठे जँगली तेंदुवे ने झपटकर हमला कर दिया गनीमत रही कि कालू के चिल्लाने पर ग्रामीणों के दौड़कर आ जाने से चीता जंगल की तरफ भाग गया ,
घटना की जानकारी लगते ही वन विभाग के अमले ने मौके पर पहुंचकर घायल को कन्नौद शासकीय अस्पताल लाकर उसका उपचार कराया ,

The Kheoni
Kheoni is the very first established wildlife sanctuary of madhya Pradesh in the year 1955 . Its been a great opportunity for me to have documented it . extraordinary landscapes , lively active birds and animals has been its heart . people of indore and Bhopal are more than lucky to have kheoni being a very near beautiful wildlife spot, for them to observe and relax their weekends .

देवास जिले के खिवनी अभ्यारण क्षेत्र में 5 टाइगर हुए नाइट विजन कैमरे में कैद, वन विभाग के जंगल में लगे नाइट विजन कैमरो में पानी पीते और पानी में हटखेलिया करते कैद हुए है, देवास जिले के अंतिम छोर पर कन्नौद के पास घने जंगलों में स्थित खिवनी अभ्यारण,
वाइल्ड लाईफ के लिए और जिले के लिए बड़ी खुशी और गर्व की बात है। वन विभाग के जंगल में लगे कैमरो में कैद हुए है टाईगर जिसमें एक नर व दो मादा हैं और दो बच्चे (शावक) हैं। सभी टाइगर्स पूरी तरह स्वस्थ हैं। इनके अलावा जंगल में अन्य टाइगर भी नजर आए हैं। ऐसे में वन विभाग के आंकड़ों और सूत्रों के अनुसार टाइगर की संख्या आठ से अधिक हो सकती है। वन विभाग अब इनकी सुरक्षा के इंतजाम में जुटा है। साथ ही प्रदेश के कान्हा नेशनल पार्क की तर्ज पर देवास जिले के खिवनी अभयारण्य को नेशनल पार्क बनाने की चर्चा भी शुरू हुई है। कैबिनेट की बैठक में यह मुद्दा उठाया गया है।
दरअसल जिले के कन्नौद क्षेत्र के खिवनी अभयारण्य में ये पांच टाइगर देखे गए हैं जो वन विभाग के नाइट विज़न कैमरों में कैद हुए है। इनमें एक नर, दो मादा व दो बच्चे हैं। वन विभाग द्वारा लगाए गए नाइट विजन कैमरे में ये कैद हुए हैं। टाइगर पानी पीते हुए व विचरण करते व पानी में हठखेलिया करते हुए नजर आए हैं। खिवनी अभयारण्य करीब 125 स्क्वेयर किमी क्षेत्र में फैला है जहाँ हिरण, नील गाय, चीतल, भालू, बारहा सिंगा, चिंकारा, चीते, तेंदुए व अन्य जंगली जानवर देखे गए हैं। घास खाने वाले हर्बीवोरा जानवरों की संख्या भी अधिक है। जिनके लिए घास के मैदान बनाए गए हैं। खिवनी अभयारण्य का भोपाल की टीम भी निरीक्षण कर चुकी है और यहां वाइल्ड लाइफ के लिए काफी संभावनाएं बताई हैं। हालांकि सबसे बड़ी चुनौती और चिंता बाघों के संरक्षण की है। शासन की ट्रांसलोकेशन नीति की समीक्षा की बात उठ रही है ताकि बाघों की संख्या बढ़ती रहे और उन्हें बेहतर वातावरण मिल सके। सुरक्षा को लेकर फंडिंग व स्टाफ बढ़ाए जाने की बात उठ रही है। सेंचुरी के आसपास से आबादी क्षेत्र को हटाने व जंगल व खेत के बीच तार फेंसिंग की योजना बनाई जा रही है ताकि टाइगर व वन्य जीवों को किसी तरह का खतरा न हो। टाइगर की जानकारी देते हुए वन मंडल अधिकारी बीएन मिश्रा ने मीडिया से विशेष बातचीत में टाइगर होने की पुष्टि की है।

मध्यप्रदेश के देवास शहर की पहचान पूरे देश में भयावह जल संकट वाले शहर के रूप में रही है। अस्सी के दशक से लेकर अब तक बीते चालीस सालों में यहां हर साल पानी की जबर्दस्त किल्लत बनी रहती है। कभी ट्रेन से तो कभी सवा सौ किमी दूर नर्मदा नदी से और कभी 65 किमी दूर गंभीर नदी से यहाँ के लोगों की प्यास बुझाने की कोशिशें की जाती रही है। जल संकट से परेशान हो चुके यहाँ के लोगों को अब बूँद-बूँद पानी की कीमत समझ आने लगी है। शहर में एक मोहल्ले के लोगों ने इस हफ़्ते करीब तीन सौ साल पुरानी एक बावड़ी को पुनर्जीवित कर दिया।
