Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary | Prince Rupert, BC
WOWeeEEEeeee. I was so happy to edit this video today and relive all the memories from this trip! My Mom, Aunt and I flew up to Prince Rupert, BC for Mother's Day and did a tour of the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary. It's been on my Mom's bucket list to see grizzlies in the wild for as long as I can remember, so on Mother's Day, we checked this off the list and it was everything we imaged it would be and more.
As you can see from the video, the scenery and wildlife up there are BREATH TAKING. We did the grizzly tour and also saw orca's, humpbacks, sea lions, black bears and eagles. Thank you, Prince Rupert Adventure Tours for being an amazing tour guide who even let me borrow his zoom lens for some eagle shots.

This video was created from a combination of photographs and videos taken by Captain Doug Davis in the Khutzeymateen on May 31st, 2017.
This was the first time that these cubs have ever seen our boat, they were very curious, as you can see. They are roughly 5 months old and were just born this year.

Zaandam Prince Rupert grizzly bear excursion May 4, 2012 video # 1
We had a wonderful excursion with passengers from the Holland America Zaandam. We started with a great eagle show (over 25 eagles swirling around our vessel) then moved on to the Khutzeymateen Inlet to look for grizzly bears. Spotted one of our favorite female whom gave us a great performance, we later on spotted a mama with 2 2years old cubs and to top it all we saw some transient orcas on our way back. A fantastic group of passengers from Australia, U.S.A., Canada, the Netherlands, China, Mexico, etc. What a great way to start our season.
