Bratislava Old Town
The centre of Bratislava is also called the Old Town (41,953 inhabitants). The Old Town includes the historic centre and adjoining neighbourhoods that used to be the centre's immediate outskirts in the Middle Ages.
St. Michael's Tower is one of essential symbols of Bratislava. Only the gate on St. Michael's Tower has been preserved out of the original four gates that were gateways for entering the fortified medieval city. Currentlyan exhibition of weaponry and city fortifications of the Bratislava City Museum is on display in the tower. A zero kilometre, which counts the distance of selected cities in the world from Bratislava, is located under the tower. A view of the entire rest of St. Michael's Street (Michalská ulica), which is one of the oldest in the city, opens up from St. Michael's Gate.
Zichy's Palace (house No. 11) with its elegant, strictly Classicist-style facade draws the visitor's interest at the corner of Ventúrska and Prepoštská Streets. It was built in approximately 1775 at the behest of Count Francis Zichy. The palace was refurbished in the 1980's and now it hosts all kinds of ceremonies and celebrations. A Baroque-style Pállfy's Palace (house No. 10), which was rebuilt from an old house in 1747, is located at the corner of Ventúrska and Zelená Streets. A memorial plaque on the Pállfy's Palace facade on Ventúrska Street brings attention to the fact that the six-year old child prodigy, worldwide known as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), probably performed a concert in the palace.
A parish church is a landmark of every Christian city. This is no doubt the case with St. Martin's Cathedral – the largest, oldest and most remarkable church in Bratislava from the 14th century. St. Martin's Cathedral was a coronation church between 1563 and 1830.
The crossroads of the Fisherman's Gate and Panská and Laurinská Streets is one of the Old Town's liveliest places. People like to stop here to listen to tunes played by street musicians. Tourists are bound to make a picture with the statue of Čumil in what is an almost ceremonial photo session. The Fisherman's Gate is a short street in Bratislava's historic centre. Next to House No. 1 on Fisherman's Gate Street is a statue of a man in real size, who is holding a hat in his hand. The man looks like he is saying hello to somebody he knows coming out of a nearby entrance. Unlike the nearby Čumil, this sculpture, which shines in the silver colour, represents a real Bratislava local, whom everybody has called Schöner Náci.

Chain Bridge, Budapest
The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Designed by the English engineer William Tierney Clark and built by the Scottish engineer Adam Clark, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary. It was opened in 1849.
It is anchored on the Pest side of the river to Széchenyi (formerly Roosevelt) Square, adjacent to the Gresham Palace and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and on the Buda side to Adam Clark Square, near the Zero Kilometre Stone and the lower end of the Castle Hill Funicular, leading to Buda Castle.
The bridge has the name of István Széchenyi, a major supporter of its construction, attached to it, but is most commonly known as the Chain Bridge. At the time of its construction, it was regarded as one of the modern world's engineering wonders.
CAR FACTORY : MERCEDES 2nd BATTERY FACTORY GROUNBREAKING CEREMONY (ENG)
Groundbreaking 2nd battery factory at Daimler subsidiary ACCUMOTIVE in Kamenz. By laying the foundation for one of the biggest and most modern battery factories, Daimler AG is setting new standards in the international automotive industry, thereby taking the next strategic step in its electric offensive.
At the wholly-owned subsidiary ACCUMOTIVE in Kamenz, the second factory for lithium-ion batteries is built with an investment of around 500 million euros. Guests of honour at the ceremony were Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and Stanislaw Tillich (Minister President of Saxony), who, together with Dieter Zetsche (Chairman of the Board of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars), Markus Schäfer (Member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Production and Supply Chain), Frank Deiss (Head of Powertrain Production and Site Manager Mercedes-Benz Plant Untertürkheim) and Frank Blome (Managing Director Deutsche Accumotive GmbH & Co. KG), laid the casing of a vehicle battery as the foundation stone.
“The automotive industry is facing a fundamental transformation and we see ourselves as the driving force behind this change,” says Dieter Zetsche. “The battery factory in Kamenz is an important component in the implementation of our electric offensive. By 2022, we will have more than ten purely electric passenger cars in series. We also continue to drive forward the hybridization of our fleet. Under the EQ brand, we are creating a holistic ecosystem for e-mobility.”
The investment of Daimler strengthens the region as a major innovation hub for the German automotive industry and offers employees good prospects in a future-oriented technology field. The Federal Chancellor and the Saxon Minister President were able to get an impression during a tour through the existing battery factory with two employees working in production.
Stanislaw Tillich stressed that “Daimler is focusing on Saxony for this important investment in Germany and Europe – I’d like to say thank you and welcome! Today’s foundation in the Lausitz is a signal of the future that is particularly strong. With the investment, Daimler plays a decisive role in consolidating the reputation of Saxony as a traditional and, at the same time, modern automotive region. The project stands for innovation and jobs as well as for the development of this region as a center of electric mobility.”
Daimler invests an overall amount of around one billion euros in a global production compound for batteries. “With the second battery plant in Kamenz, we are giving the initial start for the development of the first premium eBattery factory,” says Markus Schäfer. “The local production of batteries is an important success factor in our electric offensive and a crucial element in order to flexibly and efficiently serve the global demand for electric vehicles. This makes our production network very well positioned for future mobility.”
The new production facility, which is situated approximately 50 kilometres from Dresden, is scheduled to go into operation in mid-2018. Covering an area of around 20 hectares, the site is in the direct vicinity of the existing battery factory. The new plant will quadruple the production and logistics area in Kamenz to a total of around 80,000 square meters. In the next few years ACCUMOTIVE will gradually increase the number of employees at the site. By the end of the decade, ACCUMOTIVE will have a total of over 1,000 employees and thus more than double the number compared to today’s level.
“The German Chancellor’s visit at ACCUMOTIVE underlines the importance of electric mobility in Germany and the good perspectives for the future location in Kamenz. For our workforce, this is a great signal acknowledging their know-how and top quality performance in the last years. To date, we have delivered more than 80,000 batteries based on lithium-ion technology,” says Frank Blome. The second battery factory has been designed as a CO2-neutral factory with an energy balance of zero: Daimler’s approach to electric mobility is an integrated one, attaching key importance to sustainability already at the production stage. The production facilities will be supplied with energy from a combined heat and power plant and a photovoltaic plant in combination with stationary battery storage units. With state-of-the-art facilities and technologies, the new battery factory will also set standards regarding Industry 4.0.

Hyperloop | Wikipedia audio article
A Hyperloop is a proposed mode of passenger and/or freight transportation, first used to describe an open-source vactrain design released by a joint team from Tesla and SpaceX. Drawing heavily from Robert Goddard's vactrain, a hyperloop is a sealed tube or system of tubes through which a pod may travel free of air resistance or friction conveying people or objects at high speed while being very efficient.
Elon Musk's version of the concept, first publicly mentioned in 2012, incorporates reduced-pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on air bearings driven by linear induction motors and axial compressors. The Hyperloop Alpha concept was first published in August 2013, proposing and examining a route running from the Los Angeles region to the San Francisco Bay Area, roughly following the Interstate 5 corridor. The paper conceived of a hyperloop system that would propel passengers along the 350-mile (560 km) route at a speed of 760 mph (1,200 km/h), allowing for a travel time of 35 minutes, which is considerably faster than current rail or air travel times. Preliminary cost estimates for this LA–SF suggested route were included in the white paper—US$6 billion for a passenger-only version, and US$7.5 billion for a somewhat larger-diameter version transporting passengers and vehicles—although transportation analysts had doubts that the system could be constructed on that budget; some analysts claimed that the Hyperloop would be several billion dollars overbudget, taking into consideration construction, development, and operation costs. The Hyperloop concept has been explicitly open-sourced by Musk and SpaceX, and others have been encouraged to take the ideas and further develop them.
To that end, a few companies have been formed, and several interdisciplinary student-led teams are working to advance the technology. SpaceX built an approximately 1-mile-long (1.6 km) subscale track for its pod design competition at its headquarters in Hawthorne, California. Some experts are skeptical, saying that the proposals ignore the expenses and risks of developing the technology and that the idea is completely impractical. Claims have also been made that the Hyperloop is too susceptible to disruption from a power outage or terror attacks to be considered safe.
2020 Skoda Citigo iV Electric Car Unveiled
2020 Skoda Citigo iV Electric Car Unveiled
It’s safe to say a new Citigo is long overdue if you take into consideration Skoda’s entry-level car has been around for approximately eight years. The Czech marque part of the Volkswagen empire is about to take the wraps off a heavily modified version of its pint-sized car, even though the styling suggests it’s more of the same. A design sketch announcing the imminent reveal of the zero-emissions Citigo was released today to signal Skoda’s EV ambitions.
koda isn’t going into any details just yet, but the adjacent teaser shows the exterior design will be largely carried over from the conventionally powered model. One change we’re able to notice is the closed-off grille, which isn’t really all that surprising taking into account there’s no ICE underneath the hood to require cooling. Some subtle tweaks here and there are expected, but nothing to write home about. It goes without saying the actual car will have conventional door handles and will probably be offered strictly as a five-door hatchback.
A sister model of the VW e-up! and SEAT e-Mii, the new Citigo-e iV will offer 186 miles (300 kilometers) of range between charges, although it’s unclear whether that number is based on NEDC or the more realistic WLTP. Regardless, it will have way more range than its VAG siblings, which rely on an 18.7-kWh battery good for about 100 miles in ideal conditions.
If by any chance it will inherit the same electric motor, the Citigo sans ICE will offer 81 horsepower and an instant torque of 155 pound-feet (210 Newton-meters), which in the case of the e-up! is good for a sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in 12.4 seconds. The battery pack in the VW lies in the floor and tips the scales at 230 kilograms (507 pounds), raising the total weight to 1,139 kg (2,511 lbs).
The Skoda Citigo-e iV will debut as a production model next week, specifically on Thursday, May 23. The debut is scheduled to take place at a dedicated even organized in Bratislava, Slovakia where the company’s first plug-in hybrid production car, the Superb PHEV, will also grace the stage. Information is scarce at this point, but the electrified derivative of the marque’s flagship is expected to inherit the plug-in hybrid powertrain from the recently facelifted VW Passat GTE for the European market. It will go by the name of Superb iV and will probably combine a 1.4 TSI gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 13-kWh battery pack for an electric range of 34 miles (55 kilometers) based on the WLTP cycle.

The motors are powered by 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery capable of delivering an all-electric range of 54 to 56 km (34 to 35 mi). The Q7 e-tron produces CO2 emissions between 50 and 48 g/km, and has a fuel consumption of 1.8 to 1.9 l/100 km (160 to 150 mpg-imp; 130 to 120 mpg-US) under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).[39][40] The Q7 e-tron accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 6.2 seconds in hybrid mode, and zero to 60 km/h (37.3 mph) in 6.5 seconds in all-electric mode. Its top speed in hybrid mode is 230 km/h (140 mph) and 135 km/h (84 mph) in electric mode.[39]
Audi announced a Q7 e-tron TFSI at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show, developed specially for Asian markets (China, South Korea, Singapore and Japan). Its 2.0 TFSI and electric motor deliver 270 kW (367 hp) and 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of system torque – enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 5.9 seconds and for a top speed of 220 km/h (136.7 mph). The standard consumption of 2.5 liters of fuel (94.1 US mpg) corresponds to CO2 emissions of less than 60 grams per kilometer (96.6 g/mi). All-electric range will be up to 53 km (33 mi).[41][42]
The Audi Q7 2.0 TFSI (1984 cc, 185 kW / 252 hp) is also available in the Russian market.[43]
The first units of the diesel-powered Audi Q7 e-tron were registered in Germany in April 2015.[44] Cumulative sales of the plug-in hybrid in Germany totaled 344 units through April 2016.[45][46]
Until now, the engine for such a model has remained unknown. Audi currently has a choice of multiple high-performance powertrains, including the 449kW 5.2-litre V10 found in the new R8, or the 412kW turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 used in the RS6 or RS7.

SUMMARY
=======
