Kayaking and Fly Fishing at Kinni Creek Lodge & Outfitters in River Falls
Kinni Creek's location in the northern-most portion of the driftless area in River Falls was untouched by the Ice Age, which makes its streams and rivers clear, pristine, and ideal for fly-fishing and kayaking. The on-site fly shop equips fishers with all the tools they need to angle for their next big catch. Kinni Creek's experienced guides also lead groups on kayaking expeditions where they can view local wildlife and picturesque scenery.

Kayaking the lower Kinnikinnick River in fall
A solo float down the Kinnikinnick River on Oct 9, 2010. Kinni is a class I or class II river depending on water levels. Can turn into a monster when it floods. Map at the beginning is to aid in doing this paddle. It covers a little over 7 miles of the lower kinnikinnic. The trip takes 3-4 hours paddle time depending on how much you paddle and how fast the river is moving. The river runs through a deep gorge especially in its lower half. You will have very little to zero cell phone reception on the lower half and that includes at the take out spot. Boats are put in below the dam in River Falls Wisconsin and taken out at the Co Road F bridge, which is the only bridge on the lower kinnikinnick river. The Kinni Creek Lodge and Outfitters runs down both the upper and lower kinni. Because of this the river is kept pretty clear of debris, but not always if you go down shortly after a storm. Wildlife on the lower kinni includes: deer, eagles, white and blue herons, king fishers, fish, the abundant dragonfly, and occasional musk rat, mink, or even otter.

KNEE DEEP - Fly Fishing the Kinni
My brother and I have been fly fishing quite a bit this spring, so I decided to put together a video of his catches. I'm not as patient (or good a fisherman) as he is, so I've mostly been filming.
