Historic Kit Carson Memorial Cemetery In Historic Taos New Mexico A Video Tour
This is a video tour of The Kit Carson Memorial Cemetery in Taos, New Mexico. It is very close to the main plaza - within walking distance. It was a gorgeous fall day with the leaves turning beautiful colors, a little dusting of snow on the nearby mountains, and the air was crisp. It is a beautiful cemetery on the edge of the park that has tennis courts, walking/jogging paths, a play area for kids, picnic areas, and more. It was truly beautiful, and one of the few cemeteries in New Mexico, that I have been to, that has grass - albeit, the grass needed re-seeding!
I spoke of the disgust I had when I found out that a centuries-old cemetery - Guadalupe Church Burial Ground - had been covered with a parking lot - here is the link:
I found it a disgrace that something as holy as a burial ground, was covered by a parking lot. Personally, I believe it should be restored. I can't believe that something with such historical value, was selfishly covered with concrete to allow people to park their vehicles closer to the plaza so they didn't have to walk as far. Shame, shame!!
Here are a couple of links for Taos, New Mexico, with more information on the history of the park:

Kit Carson and the 19th Century American West:A Legendary Journey of Exploration
Narrative historian Hampton Sides shares his insights into the life and times of the legendary, controversial Kit Carson, the 19th century trapper, explorer, soldier, pioneer, and Zelig of the American West. Enveloped in mythology, Carson’s epic life story provides an archetype of the clashing cultures and values that defined the 19th century American West—while giving the literature of Manifest Destiny a saga that still resonates today.

KIT CARSON - WikiVidi Documentary
Christopher Houston Carson , better known as Kit Carson, was an American frontiersman. He was a mountain man , wilderness guide, Indian agent, and U.S. Army officer. Carson became a frontier legend in his own lifetime via biographies and news articles. Exaggerated versions of his exploits were the subject of dime novels. Carson left home in rural present-day Missouri at age 16 to become a mountain man and trapper in the West. In the 1830s, he accompanied Ewing Young on an expedition to Mexican California and joined fur trapping expeditions into the Rocky Mountains. He lived among and married into the Arapaho and Cheyenne tribes. In the 1840s, he was hired as a guide by John C. Fremont. Fremont's expedition covered much of California, Oregon, and the Great Basin area. Fremont mapped and wrote reports and commentaries on the Oregon Trail to assist and encourage westward-bound American pioneers. Carson achieved national fame through Fremont's accounts of his expeditions. Under Fremont'...
