Die kleine Stadt CALLINGTON liegt auf dem Land - in Cornwall, aber auch nahe zur Grafschaft Devon. Von den Normannen als CELLWIC um 200 gegründet, bekam CALLINGTON 1584 Stadtrechte.
Bewohner aus dem Umland suchen die Stadt als Einkaufspunkt gerne auf. Am Stadtrand befinden sich moderne Supermärkte.
Im Stadtkern selbst bietet die Forestreet nur noch wenige, kleinere Geschäfte.
Auffällig sind die vielen Immobilien-Agenturen . . .

Test flight - Syma X5C-1 quad-copter. Launceston road park, Callington, Cornwall
Let me start off by saying that I am a complete novice to RC flying. Previously I had attempted to fly a small RC helicopter and I ended up crashing it in spectacular fashion about a minute after take off.
I decided to go for the Syma X5c-1 after some research that suggested it was one of the easiest quad-copters in the budget range to fly.
Here you can get an idea of how easy it is for a beginner to fly, and also the quality of the video camera.
I had tried it out briefly once before but due to high winds and improper set up it was quite unstable and was all over the place.
This time it handled much better after it was properly set up (the instruction booklet is not very good to be honest. Googling how to do it is much more helpful)
Weather - Cloudy with a light breeze.
The battery lasted about 8 minutes with the Prop guards on. The first half of the flight having the video camera running, and the second half with it switched off.
No fancy moves yet! I'm still trying to get a feel for the controls.

Dupath Holy Well Chapel, Callington, Cornwall, UK
Under the guardianship of English Heritage, and managed by the Cornwall Heritage Trust, Dupath well is a small chapel-like building and was built in about 1510 by the Augustinian canons of the nearby priory of St Germans, to whom the site belonged. The architecture of the well-house is typical of the late 15th and early 16th centuries in a notably 'Celtic' style.
At one time the spring at Dupath was believed to cure whooping cough. In addition to its role in healing the sick, the spring was used on occasion for baptisms. One grim tale associated with Dupath recounts that two Saxons – Colan (Cornish for heart or courage) and Gottlieb – fought a duel there for a lady’s hand. But the maiden went unmarried: Colan was killed outright and Gottlieb fatally wounded, though some versions say he died later of ‘impatience.

Cornwall - Luckett Duck Day
Einmal im Jahr veranstaltet der Bürgerverein von Luckett ein Dorffest. Höhepunkt ist das Duck Race - Plastikenten schwimmen auf einem Bach um die Wette. Die Enten sind nummeriert und können für 1 Pfund gebucht werden. Aber auch das weitere Rahmenprogramm ist sehr attraktiv: Verkaufsstände, Tombola, Hunde-Show, Musikprogramm, Versteigerung und auch für das leibliche Wohl ist gesorgt - ein entspanntes und abwechslungsreiches Fest auf dem Privatgrundstück eines Bürgers von Luckett. Ein gelungener Nachmittag, der allen Beteiligten sichtbar Freude gemacht hat . . .
