Khlong Tour, Bangkok - Thailand 4K Travel Channel
Many of the klongs, as the transport canals are called in Thailand, have been filled up within the last decades. Nevertheless there are still numerous which are worth being visited. We take a boat through the Klongs of Thonburi, east of the Chao Phraya River. Already 20 years ago we had made this tour. At that time one could hardly talk about houses along the klongs. It were more wooden shacks that look very poor. This has changed. Today you find some pretty houses and some are noble designed. The majority is kept simple but clean and tidy.
Now and then you can still see women washing the clothes or kids swimming in the klongs. There used to be a lot more. 20 years ago it was customary to wash themselves in the water of the klongs.
Today, most homes have running water, you can see the laid water pipes. It amazes us to find stately monitor lizards in the klongs. After we have passed some monitor lizards swimming by, we can also observe others sunbathing at close range. They allegedly are harmless because they are very shy. Whether this is the case, we cannot and will not check.
Occasionally, you find merchants coming with their boats. For quite some time, you don't find floating markets in Bangkok anymore.
On the edge of Klongs of Thonburi we see a whole new neighborhood springing up out of the ground.
Partly one built also multi-story residential buildings. Between them one repeatedly find temples.
We stop at one of these temples. A monk comes to the boat and gives us bread. It is meant for the fish in front of temples. A few pieces are sufficient to bring the water to a boil. Only now, we realize the richness in fish in the canals. Fishing in front of the temples is prohibited. Here, the fish are considered sacred.
The water-level is fairly constant since it is regulated by locks at the mouth into the Chao Phraya.

Walking Through Klong Toey Slum In Bangkok
Take a walk through Bangkok's last remaining slum - which is being earmarked for gentrification. The Klong Toey slum in the heart of Thai capital is home to more than 100,000 poverty-sticken Thais. Situated alongside a canal, the disease ridden area is known for its high levels of crime. But despite that, it has become a ''photographer's dream'' and many foreign visitors to the country enjoy walking through the filthy streets to capture the deprived underclass of natives going about their everyday lives. Footage taken on May 15 shows shocking levels of plastic pollution, loose chickens, children playing on disused railway tracks and a young girl dumping her rubbish in an open street. The slum has been opened since 1989 but has become a contensious political issue, with the area being plagued by crime and regular fires among the areas wooden homes. The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) has now announced plans to build a sprawling shopping mall and real-estate project on 355 acres of land in area. PAT director-general Kamolsak Promprayoon said: ''It will be something like [newly opened megamall] Iconsiam. The format will basically be a large business city with the goal of becoming a new landmark and tourism centre in the capital that offers convenient.'' Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who paid a visit to Klong Toey last week, stressed the importance of speeding up a 7.5-billion-baht Smart Community project. This will see about 12,500 families who are illegally occupying the densely populated area near the port evicted, Mr Kamolsak said. The developments, which will start in the coming months, will see a rapid development of Bangkok's last remaining slum and an end to the area much visited by travel photographers looking for gritty real life shots.

BANGKOK FLOWER MARKET - Pak Klong Talad
Bangkok's 24 hour Flower Market is one of the 'must-see' attractions of the city. It is the largest wholesale and retail fresh flower market and receives a vast quantity of fresh flowers from both nearby provinces and further afield, and selling them to a mix of wholesale and consumer trade. Pak Klong Talad is at its busiest around midnight, as huge deliveries arrive for the Bangkok florists keen to stock their own shops and market stalls for the next day
BANGKOK FLOWER MARKET - Pak Klong Talad
Klong Toey Market - Bangkok's Breadbasket (ตลาดคลองเตย)
Please check out my travel and food website right here: Stop by and say hello!
The Klong Toey Market (ตลาดคลองเตย) in Bangkok is one of the largest, busiest, and most important markets in the entire city.
It's the distribution point for many fruits, vegetables and meat throughout the city. As I mentioned in the video, if you should eat at any restaurant in central Bangkok, both street food or sit down restaurant alike, and it's likely that a few, if not all the ingredients were purchased from Klong Toey.
The market is in reality open 24 hours per day, but the most energetic time to visit, when the market is really at its peak is in the early morning from about 4 am to 8 am. However, you don't have to wake up too early to catch the action, the market is still nice to see and browse during the late morning or afternoon as well.
Vegetables and meat are especially cheap to buy at Klong Toey Market, and many vendors even sell their produce in large wholesale bags, specifically catering to those that have restaurants.
If you buy a lot of groceries and can't carry them all, there are plenty of porters armed with big baskets and dollies that can be hired for just $1 - $2 to transport all your things around the market. Now that's shopping in style! Wouldn't it be nice to have a person carrying around your groceries at the supermarket?!
If you are visiting Bangkok and want to get out and see the real life of the city, the market that churns part of economy and a major source of food for the city of Bangkok, you've got to visit Talad Klong Toey.
How to get to Klong Toey Market (ตลาดคลองเตย):
The market is located on the corner of Ratchada and Rama IV roads. You can either take a taxi directly there, it's really close to central Bangkok (without traffic it's about 5 minutes from Silom and about 5 minutes from Asoke).
You can also choose to take the MRT Metro underground train to Khlong Toei station, and you'll just have to walk about 5 minutes until you're in the thick of the market.
Just like at any crowded place in the world, it's always a wise decision to keep your pockets safe and take account of your valuables when you visit.

It's quite a peaceful neighbourhood, with locals going on about their daily lives.
It is a great place to get away from the city and just chill by the canal, have coffee, admire traditional art works and enjoy the local side of Bangkok.

Thailand Railway Market I Mae Klong Railway Market Near Bangkok I Hindi Video
#maeklongrailwaymarket #Thailand
On our recent trip to Thailand, we went to see that famous railway market which is being made more popular around the world by the viral videos of it.
In Samut Songkhram, about an hour outside Bangkok, is Maeklong Railway Market, one of the largest produce and seafood markets in Thailand. But beyond the selection of fresh fruit and fish, the market has become infamous for one thing—the train that runs directly through it. In 1905, the Maeklong Railway built a commuter train line through the center of the popular market. But rather than move, the vendors adapted to the new conditions, working around the train that passes through eight times a day, seven days a week.

Nhong Rim Klong (ร้าน หน่องริมคลอง) is a street food stall in Bangkok that serves impressive Thai street food!
Located on Ekkamai Soi 21, Nhong Rim Klong (ร้าน หน่องริมคลอง) is a restaurant that’s been shared quite a lot recently on Thai social media — and rightfully so, because the food looked absolutely sensational. So one day for lunch my wife and I decided to go check it out.
The street food stall is located along the canal, the kitchen is literally over the top of the canal on the bridge, and then tables of seating are down the left hand side of the canal. Although it’s not the cleanest of canals, the amazing Thai food is what you come here for.
Tom yum seafood (ต้มยำทะเลน้ำใส) - We started off with Thai tom yum with seafood, the clear version of the soup. It was packed with a mix of seafood including squid, shrimp, and fish, and the broth was so seafoody and sour. It was amazing. Price - 200 THB.
Fried shrimp with garlic (กุ้งทอดกระเทียม) - Fried shrimp with garlic is a classic Thai street food dish, and the shrimp were meaty and firm, and were embedded with a deep fried garlic taste. Price - 200 THB
Cabbage fried with fish sauce and crab meat (กะหล่ำผัดน้ำปลาเนื้อปู) - One of the signature dishes at Nhong Rim Klong (ร้าน หน่องริมคลอง) is fried cabbage with a mixture of crab and shrimp and egg all over the top. It was so rich and creamy and a very comforting dish. Price - 200 THB.
Pad kee mao crab (ผัดขี้เมาปู) - Finally the last dish Ying and I ordered was pad kee mao crab, which is stir fried drunken style crab. This was the best Thai dish at Nhong Rim Klong (ร้าน หน่องริมคลอง) for me. The dish included crab, long beans, fingerroot, chilies, garlic, onions, kaffir lime leaves, eggplant, and basil. It was sensation! Price - 300 THB.
This is not a cheap Thai street food stall, but for the ingredients and dishes they serve, it’s well worth it for a serious Bangkok street food treat.

CROC OR LIZARD ? ???? BANGKOK RIVER & KLONGS / ASIATIQUE / GRAND PALACE - THAILAND ????????
Thompson's House on the Klong BANGKOK THAILAND - Jim Thompson Museum
James Harrison Wilson Jim Thompson (born 21 March 1906) was an American businessman who helped revitalise the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s.[1]
The son of a prominent Delaware family, Thompson graduated from Princeton University (1928) and studied architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1931 to 1940, he worked as an architect in New York City designing homes for the East Coast rich. In 1941, he quit his job and enlisted with the Delaware National Guard regiment. During World War II, he served as an operative in the Office of Strategic Services, the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency. He fought in North Africa, Europe and the China-Burma-India war zone. After the war, he was assigned to the US legation in Bangkok, Thailand. He left the army in 1946 and became interested in silk weaving. He co-founded the Thai Silk Company in 1948.[2] The firm achieved a coup in 1951 when its fabrics were used for the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, The King and I. From then on, the company prospered.
