【元町】Kobe Eiko Church (United Church of Christ) 日本キリスト教団 神戸栄光教会
I left the Cathedral Church of St. Michael eastward to walk to another church.
In 1886, about 2 decades after the Meiji Restoration, Kobe Methodist Church was founded. In 1907, 3 Methodist denominations in Japan united, and the church changed its name. As the number of the church members increased, the church moved to the present place in 1923. It was known as a red brick church. In 1941, United Church of Christ in Japan was established, and the church changed its name again to Kobe Eiko Church in 1942. In 1995, the church building collapsed in the Great Hanshin Earthquake, and was reconstructed in 2004, retaining its appearance as a red brick church.
At the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate Era, the Kobe Port was opened to the outside world in 1867. Since then, Kobe has had various colonies to have various shrines and temples of different religions. If you want to visit those shrines and temples, you should either start from Sannomiya Station, visit the Cathedral Church of St. Michael first, and move counterclockwise, or should start from Hanakuma Station, visit Guandi Miao first, and go clockwise. I started from Hanakuma, walked up the hill, and visited Guandi Miao, the Cathedral Church of St. Michael (the Anglican Communion), Kobe Eiko Church (United Church of Christ), Kobe Muslim Mosque (Islam), Jewish Community of Kansai (Judaism Synagogue), Bhagwan Mahavirswami Jain Temple (Jainism Temple), Kobe Baptist Church, Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, and Dormition Orthodox Church in Kobe (Greek Orthodox Church or Eastern Orthodoxy).

The Gathering in Kobe: Japan-China-Korea-Taiwan Churches Covenant to walk together in Christ
Hello All.
I just came the most amazing Christian conference in Kobe, Japan. The Japanese kanji characters for Kobe 神戸 means 'Ko神'= God and 'Be戸' means door. So, Kobe means 'God's Door.'
Anyways, we did something in the spiritual that I want you to look for and pray into in the spiritual. The name of the conference was 'The Gathering in Kobe.'
3 major things happened during the 3 days:
1. During The Gathering in Okinawa in July last year, July 2014, we prayed that the ancient doors of Asia be opened. As Japan is the land of the rising sun and the gateway to Asia, we were instructed to pray to the LORD to open the ancient doors of Asia and welcome the King of Kings. Just as an invading army comes to a walled city, those inside can either lock their door tight and wait for the fight or they can open their gates wide and invite and host the incoming army. We prayed and asked the LORD to opened wide the ancient gates over Asia and welcomed our LORD to come in. That is all we did last year, just prayed to open the ancient gates.
THIS YEAR, during this gathering, in Kobe, WE CALLED AND RELEASED THE ARMIES OF THE LORD TO BE RELEASED OVER ASIA. WE CALLED THE ARMIES OF THE LORD TO COME OUT OF THE GATES AND FIGHT THE BATTLE OVER ASIA IN THE SPIRITUAL REALM.
God told brother Damien that we don't have to fight because God has been waiting a long time for his vengeance. Our job is only to be the host of the Holy Spirit inside of us. For those of us who understand, Hallelujah!
2. China, Korea, and Japan made a 3-strand covenant promise to walk together in the unity of love, prayer, and support under the banner of Jesus and His church. We were told there are 5 major underground house churches in China and that 3 of the 5 leaders of were part of this Gathering in Kobe and part of the covenant. David Damien said to look forward to seeing what we have done in the spiritual to manifest in the physical with political alignments being made between the government leaders of Korea, China, and Japan.
3. David Damien prophesied that the time for the fullness of the gentiles ends this year. He said that next year the eyes of the Jews will be opened and the Jews will see that Jesus is the Messiah they have been looking for.
Amazing, and powerful things.
Be blessed and ready, always.
In Jesus' coming name, Amen.

Trying to figure out the anthem of Stella Maris, Kobe, Japan
Stella Maris, Kobe, Japan, June 1961
Video with Beethoven's Ode to Joy
The Anthem goes something like this:
1)
Classmates shout your country's anthem
sing your land's undying fame
Light the wonders tale of nations.....
(sonotsugi wa omoidasenai...yo...)
Mother of the poor and suffering
Mother of the strong and free
To our country's land of heaven
Lead us, oh star of the sea
2)
Stella Maris maiden mother
Queen of peace so graciously
Shine upon the nation's pathways
Guide them o'life's troubled seas
Father of the.... (something, something....)
Father of the.... (something, something....)
Please help us find the exact words...

JAPAN: KOBE: HOMELESS: TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION
Japanese/Natsound
The Japanese government has begun the massive task of building temporary accommodation in the city of Kobe.
Prefabricated houses are being erected on soccer fields and parklands across the city to house over three hundred thousand who were left homeless after Tuesday's earthquake.
For the residents of Kobe, the scene of destruction is an overwhelming one.
The painful reality is driven home by the splintered remains of people's private homes.
It's estimated that more than ten thousand families - or around three hundred thousand people - are now homeless.
They're scattered across the city in schools and government buildings like this one.
In crowded shelters such as these, they attempt to reconstruct family life. And wait patiently for relief.
Now the government is offering at least the chance of privacy. Plans are to build thousands of temporary homes.
This group of houses - frantically being built by government contractors - will provide homes for a hundred families.
Each family will share a crammed but private space.
SOUNDBITE: (Japanese)
The houses will have two rooms, one about 12 square metres,
and one about 10 square metres. Plus a small kitchen.
SUPER CAPTION: Terada Takeshi, Government Surveyor.
It's people like the Oyama family who will benefit from the emergency housing scheme.
When the earthquake stuck early on Tuesday, there were four generations of the Oyamas under one roof.
SOUNDBITE: (Japanese)
We lost everything. We haven't had time to think about our future.
SUPER CAPTION: Yaek Oyama, survivor.
The family have been too preoccupied with living for the moment to spare much thought for the government's housing plan.
SOUNDBITE: (Japanese)
We only got electricity and drinking water yesterday.
SUPER CAPTION: Setsuko Miyazaki.
Mr and Mrs Takeda also lost everything.
SOUNDBITE: (Japanese)
Everything was burnt. Everything has turned to ashes. I escaped in only what I'm wearing now.
SUPER CAPTION: Minoru Takeda
Even though the couple now depend on government assistance, they want no special treatment in getting a house.
SOUNDBITE: (Japanese)
We want to go into the temporary houses. But only as long as the government treats everyone equally. And everyone gets a chance to get a home.
SUPER CAPTION: Minoru Takeda

Interview with a Cannibal
Issei Sagawa murdered an innocent woman and spent three days eating her flesh. Due to loopholes in the law, Issei is a free man to this day.
On the afternoon of June 13, 1981, a Japanese man named Issei Sagawa walked to the Bois de Boulogne, a park on the outskirts of Paris, carrying two suitcases. The contents of those suitcases, to the lament of a nearby jogger, was the dismembered body of a fellow student -- a Dutch woman named Renée Hartevelt, whom Sagawa had shot three days prior and had spent the days since eating various parts of her body.
He was soon arrested. According to reports, Issei uttered, I killed her to eat her flesh, when they raided his home, whereupon they found bits of Renne still in his fridge.
Sagawa was declared insane and unfit for trial and was institutionalized in Paris. His incarceration was to be short, however, as the French public soon grew weary of their hard-earned francs going to support this evil woman-eater, and Issei was promptly deported. Herein followed a bizarre and seemingly too convenient set of legal loopholes and psychiatric reports that led doctors in Japan declaring him sane, but evil.
On August 12, 1986, Sagawa checked himself out of Tokyo's Matsuzawa Psychiatric hospital, and has been a free man ever since.
