Kofukuji Temple used to be the family temple of the Fujiwara, which is the most powerful family clan over much of the Nara and Heian Periods. The temple was founded in Nara at the same time as the capital foundation in 710. At the height of Fujiwara domination, the temple consisted of over 150 buildings.
Today there remain a couple of buildings of great historic importance, including a five story pagoda and a three story pagoda. The five story pagoda is 50 meter tall, ranking second in Japan, after the five story pagoda at Kyoto's Toji Temple with only seven meter gap. Kofukuji's pagoda is both a landmark and symbol of Nara. It was first built in 730, and most recent reconstruction was done in 1426.
While addmission to Kofukuji's temple grounds is free and it can be entered around the clock, there are two areas that require addmission fee: Kofukuji's National Treasure Museum and the Eastern Golden Hall. The National Treasure Museum, recently renovated, exhibits part of the temple's great art collection and is something that must not miss out on for lovers of Buddhist art. Among the many outstanding exhibits, the three-faced, six-armed Ashura Statue is one of the most renowned Buddhist statues in all of Japan.

Located near Todaiji and the Nara Deer Park, Kofukuji Temple is home to the Five-storied Pagoda and a treasure hall housing many national treasures. Kofukuji 興福寺 Nara - TRAVELING ke KUIL jaman NARA di Jepang
Kofukuji (興福寺, Kōfukuji) used to be the family temple of the Fujiwara, the most powerful aristocratic clan during much of the Nara and Heian Periods. The temple was established in Nara at the same time as the capital in 710. At the height of Fujiwara power, the temple consisted of over 150 buildings. The temple features several buildings of great historic value, including a five-storied pagoda and a three-storied pagoda. At 50 meters, the five-storied pagoda is Japan's second tallest wooden pagoda, just seven meters shorter than the five-storied pagoda at Kyoto's Toji Temple. Kofukuji's pagoda is both a landmark and symbol of Nara. It was first built in 730, and was most recently rebuilt in 1426. Neither pagoda can be entered by the public.
While entrance to Kofukuji's temple grounds is free and possible around the clock, there are three areas that require paying an entrance fee: The Central Golden Hall, the Eastern Golden Hall and Kofukuji's National Treasure Museum.Kofukuji's main temple hall, the Central Golden Hall, was destroyed by fire roughly 300 years ago and w as not rebuilt in its original size until recently. After many years of reconstruction, the hall was reopened to the public in October 2018. East of the Central Golden Hall stands the Eastern Golden Hall which houses a large statue of the Yakushi Buddha.
:::

TODAI JI world's largest wooden temple Japan

Todaiji (東大寺, Tōdaiji, Great Eastern Temple) is one of Japan's most famous and historically significant temples and a landmark of Nara. The temple was constructed in 752 as the head temple of all provincial Buddhist temples of Japan and grew so powerful that the capital was moved from Nara to Nagaoka in 784 in order to lower the temple's influence on government affairs.
Todaiji's main hall, the Daibutsuden (Big Buddha Hall) is the world's largest wooden building, despite the fact that the present reconstruction of 1692 is only two thirds of the original temple hall's size. The massive building houses one of Japan's largest bronze statues of Buddha (Daibutsu). The 15 meters tall, seated Buddha represents Vairocana and is flanked by two Bodhisattvas.
maller Buddhist statues and models of the former and current buildings are also on display in the Daibutsuden Hall. Another popular attraction is a pillar with a hole in its base that is the same size as the Daibutsu's nostril. It is said that those who can squeeze through this opening will be granted enlightenment in their next life.
Along the approach to Todaiji stands the Nandaimon Gate, a large wooden gate watched over by two fierce looking statues. Representing the Nio Guardian Kings, the statues are designated national treasures together with the gate itself. Temple visitors will also encounter some deer from the adjacent Nara Park, begging for shika senbei, special crackers for deer that are sold for around 150 yen.

Part 1: Vòng Quanh Nara park - Kofukuji
Kohfukuji National Treasure Hall, a stone's throw from Isuien, is another key Nara Park venue, renowned for its collection of Buddhist carvings by master carvers like Unkei of the Kamakura period. Some of the priest figures are unnervingly realistic. The view from Sarusawa Pond across to Kohfukuji Temple’s pagoda is also a must-see.

Home Of The Fujiwara Clan: Tanzan Jinja in Nara-ken!
Situated deep in the mountains is of one Japan's and Nara's oldest shrines. Founded in the eight century and built by the monk Jo'e (643 -- 666). Jo'e was the oldest son of Fujiwara no Kamatari (614 -- 669), founder of the Fujiwara clan and the seat of the Fujiwara clan. It is a little difficult to reach but when you do there is fantastic scenery to enjoy. Some of its pavilions are very old and bear the mark of old age.
There are two entrances; one a steep stairway of 140 steps to a Shinto shrine, famous for its splendid view during the momiji season. The small balcony of this shrine is lined with lanterns and maple trees all around. The other entrance is less spectacular as far as steps are concerned, but the two pavilions that are at its entrance are well worth the view.
In between these two buildings is a small waterfall that adds to the serenity of the place. Next to these pavilions is a small open area flanked by two more pavilions, one of which has a memorial statue and the other is a small museum with different portraits. At the end of this small open area you will find some steps leading up to another pavilion and what impressed me the most was the view of the majestic 13 story pagoda in bright red vermillion, flanked on all sides by maple trees.
After climbing the steps and turning to the right there are more steps leading up to the main Shinto shrine. This is where the famous balcony with the lanterns is. Inside the hall is a small museum, a fairly large tatami room with artefacts from a bygone era. It's also a comfy place to take a rest and take in the quietness of the mountain and listen to the birds and the sounds of the forest.
On the day I was there a craftsman was replacing the outer mats of the main Hondo. I was lucky to be able to take a photo of these brand new mats. By the entrance of this shrine is a small gift shop for lucky charms.
