____________________________________________________ ☆Bits of knowledge〜Kaminarimon〜
In order to explain the history of Kaminarimon, it’s first necessary to explain a little bit about the history of Sensoji Temple.
In the year 628 CE, two brothers fishing in the Sumida River caught a statue of the Bodhisattva Kannon in their net. When the village headman heard about it, he took vows as a Buddhist priest and remade his home into a temple in order to enshrine the statue. This is said to be the beginning of Sensoji Temple. The statue is enshrined in the temple to this very day. The words “Komagata-do” are written on these two signs (in the two photos above). It’s near Sensoji Temple. This is said to mark the place where the statue was first discovered.

Day 2 Asakusa, Tokyo 2018 *Kaminarimon to Asakusa Sta.*
After looking at the Kaminarimon Shrine and eating at Burger King, I head back to the Asakusa Station. Kaminarimon Shrine is known for their two huge shrine gates, or torii (鳥居). At the end of the video, the small temple is called the Komagatado Hall, a Buddhist temple, stationed next to the Sumida River. I hope you enjoyed the video! See you in the next one!
