The Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery (also the Bright Hill Pujue Chan Monastery) 光明山普觉禅寺 is a Buddhist temple located in Bishan, Singapore. Built by Zhuan Dao in the early 20th century to propagate Buddhism and to provide lodging for monks, this monastery is the largest Buddhist temple in Singapore.
Between 1920 and 1921, the Phor Kark See Monastery was built on the a plot of land in Thomson Road donated by Tay Woo Seng, a Chinese businessmen. It was the first traditional Chinese forest monastery to be built in Singapore. Since Phor Kark See Monastery is situated at Kong Meng San (Bright Hill, formerly Hai Nan Mountain), it has come to be known as Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery. The original temple consisted of a two-storey building, a shrine room, a visitors' room and living quarters. The Monastery expanded steadily over time as philanthropists like Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par donated funds to the monastery for its expansion.(Source: Wikipedia)

The Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery (also the Bright Hill Pujue Chan Monastery) is a Buddhist temple located in Bishan, Singapore. Celebrating Vesak Day at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery
Vesak Day, the full moon day of the fourth lunar month, is the most important annual event for the Buddhist community. It commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment and Final Nirvana of the Buddha.
The meaning of VESAK lies with the Buddha’s universal message of peace to humankind. It has become a festival for rejoicing, for spreading goodwill to all, to be grateful towards everyone, and for us to reflect on our spiritual development.

Day 5.
Morning spent walking around the monastery. Grabbed lunch at seoul yummy at junction 8. Then did some shopping at bugis street market (which I unfortunately didn't get on video).
This was our last day in singapore, as we caught our flight back to england the next morning with only 2hours sleep. We left our packing at the last minute that's why, so we were still packing at 2am in the morning, and had to leave the hotel by like 5am. Thank gosh we didn't over sleep lol.

Vesak Day 2018 Celebration at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery, Singapore
Buddhists in Singapore and the world over celebrate the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha on Vesak Day, a time of joy, peace and reflection.
The '3-step, 1-bow' ritual on Vesak Day involves devotees taking steps on both knees and then bowing at every third step. This actions is to purify all three karmas at one time (Body, Mind and Speech). At the end, 'blessed' water is sprayed onto the devotees.
One of the most popular rituals you will also notice on Vesak Day is that of 'bathing' the Buddha. Worshippers crowd around basins or pools decorated with garlands of flowers and dominated by a small central elevated statue of the child Siddhartha. Ladlefuls of water are scooped from the basin and poured over the statue, in remembrance of the legend that the infant prince was showered with the waters of nine dragons soon after he was born.

Buddhists commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha, which are all said to have happened on the same date. It is held around the month of May or Vesak, based on the lunar calendar
In Singapore, Kong Meng San Temple hold three steps, one bow pilgrimage.
This is where you’ll see devotees practise the two-hour-long ‘three-step, one-bow’ ritual, taking steps on both knees, bowing at every third step as they pray for world peace, personal blessings and repentance.
Every prostration is the paying of respects to the Buddha (also include Bodhisattvas). This practice helps to purify the mind, humble the ego and lessen obstacles along the spiritual path as one repents past misdeeds and aspires towards spiritual development. With mindfulness of one’s body, speech and mind during the journey, spiritual qualities are cultivated.

I arrived at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Temple around 5PM where the first batch is going to start soon. After that i take my dinner then watch the first batch finishing the procession.
After that i join my friend queuing at Hall of No Form for the Open Tickets. Open Tickets starts at 10PM.
Luckily after waited for several minutes, one woman gave me the 8Pm tickets, so i can do the Procession earlier.
The Procession itself took around 2hours. Because i came in late around 9 PM, i finished the Procession around 11 PM.
Yes it is very tiring, but you will have this great feeling after finishing the procession, the mind also become more calm.
I would recommend to any Buddhist that never try this before. This is a good Buddhist Practice, you need to try at least once. Just prepare Physically.
If you can see there are a lot of Old people joining this Procession, some cannot stand very long and need a walking stick, but they are still finish.
FYI, usually around 40.000 Devotee come to Kong Meng San every year to celebrate Vesak Day.

After the Chanting, the first batch started.
Like last year i didn't get any tickets. But when i came, suddenly some stranger have 3 tickets and gave it to us and it is 7PM batch.
