Konni is a small hilly town in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala state known for elephant camp and training centre. Adavi is 10 Kilometers from Konni, a thick forest area on the banks of river Kallar. This is one of the must visit tourist place in Pathanamthitta district and is a part of the Konni Eco-Tourism Project.
The Adavi Eco-Tourism project is a new venture of Kerala Tourism department joined with Kerala Forest Department. Coracle rafting or Kutta Vanchi Savari or Bowl Boat riding providing a never before experience to tourists. The coracle boat ride is in Kallar River with lush green forest on the river banks. Other attractions in Adavi other than Coracle Rafting is the Tree Top Huts and the Elephant Camp. Mannira Waterfalls, Kakathippara, Karadippara, Konni Forest Reserve are the nearby places to visit. Konni is one of the best place to spend one day effectively with family.
Adavi is 5 km from Mundommoozhy on the Achencoil-Chittar hill highway, 67 Kms from Kottayam, 93 Kms from Trivandrum and 185 Kms from Munnar.

Konni, a forested village in the State of Kerala in South India, situated on the bank of the mighty Achencoil River has a long and rich history of man-forest interface. Vast expanse of forests of Western Ghats in the background is crisscrossed by numerous streams and rivulets, which add to the exceptional scenic beauty of the landscape.
Developing visitor locations in the forest tracts of Konni-Achencoil forests and developing Konni Elephant Camp as a facilitation center is the concept behind “Konni Eco Tourism Project”. Elephant is at the nucleus of the entire project. The facilities developed at Konni include elephant viewing, elephant feeding, elephant ride, watching elephant bath etc. An elephant museum, which is planned to be developed as a complete natural history museum based on elephant, also is set up.
The project site is designed to be a zero waste center. The elephant dung is converted into biogas and the fiber in the dung is converted into hand made paper, which is an eco friendly product.The plastic waste is planned to be converted into recycled product. Outlets for sale of non-wood forest products and other eco friendly materials are also provided in the center. Part of journey to Coracle boat (Bowl boat ) in Adavi is through this forest.
This is one of the tourist places to see in Pathanamthitta district and is a part of the konni eco-tourism project. The kotta vanchi ride (bowl boat / coracle boat) is arranged in Kallaar river at adavi and the main attraction is the lush green forest in the banks and if you are very lucky, you may spot wild elephants, but the chances are very rare.Enjoy a bowl boat riding or coracle rafting at Adavi Eco-tourism near Konni in Pathanamthitta.
The Adavi Eco-tourism project is jointly launched by the departments of Forest and Tourism is part of the third phase of Konni Eco tourism project. A picturesque forest patch, 10 km from Konni on the banks of river Kallar, Adavi has nearly 5-km river frontage. Coracle rafting or Bowl Boat riding is an innovative venture, which promises a never-before experience to travellers.

Elephant charged two times to our car.First elephant charged very close to our car and return,suddenly another big one climbed down from the forest and make another charge .My friend A bin took videos of second charge,Asim was sitting behind and I was driving car.

Adavi is about 70 Km From Kollam and about 12 Km from Konni. The Bowl Boat ride or the Coracle Ride ( Kuttavanchi in Malayalam ) is managed by Konni Eco tourism.

Pathanamthitta-Kerala
Pathanamthitta district (Malayalam: പത്തനംതിട്ട (ജില്ല)) is the youngest district located in the southern part of the state of Kerala, India. The district headquarters is in Pathanamthitta town. The district is surrounded by Kottayam, Idukki, Alappuzha and Kollam districts. It has a border with the state of Tamil Nadu in the east. Pathanamthitta, Tiruvalla, Adoor, Pandalam, Ranni, Kozhencherry, Mallapally, Konni and Koipuram-Kumbanad-Pullad are the major towns in the district.
Pathanamthitta is known as the headquarters of pilgrimage tourism, for the large number of pilgrims it receives. The famous pilgrimage centre of Sabarimala, is situated here. Having three rivers and a forest cover which includes a tiger reserve, the district also attracts many wildlife and nature enthusiasts.
The According to the Census of India 2001 the population was 1,231,577 making it the third least populous district in Kerala (out of 14), after Wayanad and Idukki. Pathanamthitta has been declared the first polio-free district in India.
