Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Garden (旧岩崎邸庭園 Kyū-Iwasaki-tei teien?) is located in Taitō, Tokyo. It is the former estate of the Iwasaki clan who were the founders of Mitsubishi; the name Kyū-Iwasaki-tei means Old Iwasaki house. The premises have three buildings: a Western-style house designed by British architect Josiah Conder, a Japanese house and a billiard house, and cover an area of about 17,000 square metres.

旧岩崎邸は1896年（明治29年）に三菱創設者・岩崎家本邸として建てられました。
英国人ジョサイア・コンドルによって設計されたもので、
現存するのは洋館・撞球室・和­館の3棟です。木造2階建・地下室付きの洋館は、
本格的なヨーロッパ式邸宅で近代日本住宅を代表する西洋木造建築です。

旧岩崎邸庭園（きゅういわさきていていえん）は、
東京都台東区池之端一丁目にある都立庭園である。
指定管理者制度により東京都公園協会が運営している。
三菱財閥岩崎家の茅町本邸だった建物とその庭園を公園として整備したもので、
園内の歴史的建造物は国の重要文化財に指定されている。

旧岩崎邸の敷地は、不忍池の南西方、台東区池之端一丁目（旧下谷区茅町）に位置し、文京区湯島と境を接している。「旧岩崎邸庭園」として公開されているのは旧邸宅敷地の一部にすぎず、かつての敷地は、西側の湯島合同庁舎、南側の湯島四郵便局や切通公園一帯を含んでいた。

旧岩崎邸の敷地は、江戸時代には越後高田藩榊原家の中屋敷であった。明治時代初期に牧野弼成（旧舞鶴藩主）邸となり、1878年（明治11年）に三菱財閥初代の岩崎弥太郎が牧野弼成から邸地を購入したものである。現存する洋館、大広間（かつての和館の一部）などは、岩崎財閥3代の岩崎久弥によってジョサイア・コンドルの設計で建てられ、1896年（明治29年）に竣工したものである。1923年（大正12年）の関東大震災の際には、屋敷地が避難所として地元住民に開放された。
洋館、大広間、撞球室の3棟ならびに宅地が「旧岩崎家住宅」として国の重要文化財に指定されている。また、洋館北面袖壁、煉瓦塀、実測図1枚が重要文化財の附（つけたり）として指定されている。このうち洋館と撞球室は1961年の指定で、1969年に大広間と洋館北面袖壁が、1999年に宅地、煉瓦塀、実測図が、それぞれ追加指定されている。

2012年10月には、ライトアップ も行うそうです。
　旧岩崎邸庭園では、平成16年から毎年オータムコンサートを開催してまいりました。
今年は、上野の山文化ゾーン20周年を記念し、上野地区の文化施設合同で夜間公開を行います。それにあわせ旧岩崎邸庭園でもライトアップを行い、オータムコンサートも夜に時間帯を移して開催する予定。

上野恩賜公園にある不忍池や上野東照宮と近くにある旧岩崎邸庭園の様子です。すっかり蓮の葉が生い茂った不忍池は、花の見頃にはふた足ほど遅かったようです。旧岩崎邸庭園 は今回初めて行ったのですが、屋敷内は撮影が禁止でしたので外観だけをおさめてきました。

Amongst the country's first public parks, it was founded following the western example as part of the borrowing and assimilation of international practices that characterizes the early Meiji period. The home of a number of major museums, Ueno Park is also celebrated in spring for its cherry blossoms and hanami. In recent times the park and its attractions have drawn over ten million visitors a year, making it Japan's most popular city park
■The Shinobazu Pond (不忍池 Shinobazu no Ike) is a pond within Ueno Park (a spacious public park located in the Ueno section of Taitō, Tokyo, Japan), and a historically prominent Shitamachi feature often appearing in history and works of art. The park occupies the site of the former Kan'ei-ji, a temple closely associated with the Tokugawa shoguns, who had built it to guard Edo Castle against the northeast, a direction believed to be unlucky by traditional geomancy. The temple was destroyed during the Boshin War. The pond, although modified many times and even once drained, is natural.
