Jardin Exotique Garden and Cave - ???????? Monaco - 4K Virtual Tour
Wandering around Jardin Exotique, a unique Exotic Garden in Monaco. Click here ▶ to see highlights and guide.
(From Wiki)
The Jardin Exotique de Monaco (French for exotic garden of Monaco) is a botanical garden located on a cliffside in Monaco.
The succulent plants were brought back from Mexico in the late 1860s. Albert I, Prince of Monaco acquired a piece of land in Les Moneghetti in 1912. He commissioned Louis Notari, the Chief Engineer of Monaco, to build a new garden with footbridges. During the construction, Notari found a grotto underneath in 1916. Meanwhile, the garden was finished in 1933. Monegasque agronomist Louis Vatrican served as its first director from 1933 to 1969.
The cave was opened to the public in 1950, but it may only be visited with specialized guides. Evidence of prehistoric human inhabitants has been found in the cave. There is a museum of Prehistoric Anthropology within the Exotic Garden displaying many of those prehistoric remains. It was founded by Prince Albert I in 1902.

Back in Paris - Part 2
Monday 23rd July to Wednesday 25th July 2012
Monday
We met Chams and Gilles at La Coupole for lunch and went to our apartment to sort out keys to the cave. We were late for the beginning of a concert at the Madeleine church performed by the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tuesday
We tried a Japanese buffet lunch near the hotel, then went to get some money from the bank (BNP). We had changed our mind about how much we needed, but could not take out less than we had ordered and could not deposit any back in as they don't accept cash! Fortunately we only ordered a small amount.
We were very early for a 4 pm appointment with the locksmith at our apartment building and he was later, but we eventually got our lock changed and at last have access to our cave. We have left a bag there so we can travel lighter to Italy and Tunisia.
Wednesday
We had lunch at Fauchon and walked through the Jardin des Tuileries to Champs Elysee, where we were to meet up with our friend Yvonne outside the Lido. We had afternoon tea at Brioche Doree, a chain restaurant, but at least we were having our drinks on this famous street.
Paris, France : Lion & Lioness fight over a Boar in Tuileries Garden
The Tuileries Garden (French: Jardin des Tuileries, IPA: [ʒaʁdɛ̃ de tɥilʁi]) is a public garden located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. Created by Catherine de Medici as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was eventually opened to the public in 1667, and became a public park after the French Revolution. In the 19th and 20th century, it was the place where Parisians celebrated, met, promenaded, and relaxed. - wikipedia
The Tuileries Gardens get their name from the tile factories which previously stood on the site where Queen Catherine de Medici built the Palais des Tuileries in 1564. The famous gardener of King Louis XIV, André Le Nôtre, re-landscaped the gardens in 1664 to give them their current French formal garden style. The gardens, which separate the Louvre from the Place de la Concorde, are a cultural walking place for Parisians and tourists where Maillol statues stand alongside those of Rodin or Giacometti. The gardens’ two ponds are perfect for relaxation. The Musée de l’Orangerie, where visitors can admire the works of Monet, is located south-west of Tuileries. From March to December, free tours in French are organized. For lovers of candyfloss, rides and thrills, go to the Fête des Tuileries from June to August. - parisinfo.com

As for the outdoor activities, there are a lot of festivals, for example Paris Jazz Festival in Parc Floral, or Chopin Festival in the Bagatelle park, or even a celebration of 400 years since (Andre) Le Ntre (the famous horticulturist and worldwide known park designer) in The Tuileries park. There is also an event called The Sound and Lights, which will be held in The Invalides (Paris monument), a 3D show... so we have all sorts of events blooming at this period of bud.

Since Ella Fitzgerald sang April In Paris, that became a hit and the beginning of spring in Paris became famous because the weather is nicer and warmer, horse chestnuts are flowering as said in the song and this is a climate of revival, it is good to walk arm-in-arm with a partner to discover all wonders of Paris.

19. SOUNDBITE (English) Brian Pirolli, Philadelphia, USA :
For me, I think that Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world, I don't think it's a clich; you see it, especially now in the spring, when everyone comes out of hibernation, and you see the lovers everywhere, and people holding hands on the street and kissing in cafs... you don't see it in New York or London, even in Rome you don't see it.
20. SOUNDBITE: (English) Linda Houliston, Philadelphia, USA:
We were just talking about that and we said, when the sun comes out everybody is so much more attractive and everybody is looking at each other and yes, I guess romance does something here with springtime in this time of year.

Louis Vuitton second hand shop in Nice France (with € prices) VINTAGE
How nice!
from Wikipedia: Louis Vuitton Malletier, commonly referred to as Louis Vuitton (/ˈluːiː vwiːˈtɒn/; French: [lwi vɥiˈtɔ̃]), or shortened to LV, is a French fashion house founded in 1854 by Louis Vuitton. The label's LV monogram appears on most of its products, ranging from luxury trunks and leather goods to ready-to-wear, shoes, watches, jewellery, accessories, sunglasses, and books. Louis Vuitton is one of the world's leading international fashion houses; it sells its products through standalone boutiques, lease departments in high-end department stores, and through the e-commerce section of its website.[3][4] For six consecutive years (2006–2012), Louis Vuitton has been named the world's most valuable luxury brand. 2012 valuation was 25.9 billion USD.Year 2013 valuation of the brand was 28.4 billion USD with a sales of 9.4 billion USD.It is now in 50 countries with more than 460 stores worldwide. The Louis Vuitton label was founded by Vuitton in 1854 on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris, France.[8] Louis Vuitton had observed that the HJ Cave Osilite[9] trunk could be easily stacked and in 1858, Vuitton introduced his flat-bottom trunks with trianon canvas, making them lightweight and airtight.[8] Before the introduction of Vuitton's trunks, rounded-top trunks were used, generally to promote water run off, and thus could not be stacked. It was Vuitton's gray Trianon canvas flat trunk that allowed the ability to stack with ease for voyages. Many other luggagemakers imitated LV's style and design.[4]
In 1857, the company participated in the universal exhibition in Paris.[8] To protect against the duplication of his look, Vuitton changed the Trianon design to a beige and brown stripes design in 1876.[4] By 1885, the company opened its first store in London on Oxford Street.[8] Soon thereafter, due to the continuing imitation of his look, in 1888, Vuitton created the Damier Canvas pattern, which bore a logo that reads marque L. Vuitton déposée, which translates into L. Vuitton registered trademark. In 1892, Louis Vuitton died, and the company's management passed to his son.[4][8]
Advert for Louis Vuitton luggage, 1898.
After the death of his father, Georges Vuitton began a campaign to build the company into a worldwide corporation, exhibiting the company's products at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. In 1896, the company launched the signature Monogram Canvas and made the worldwide patents on it.[4][8] Its graphic symbols, including quatrefoils and flowers (as well as the LV monogram), were based on the trend of using Japanese and Oriental designs in the late Victorian era. The patents later proved to be successful in stopping counterfeiting. In this same year, Georges traveled to the United States, where he toured cities such as New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago, selling Vuitton products. In 1901, the Louis Vuitton Company introduced the Steamer Bag, a smaller piece of luggage designed to be kept inside Vuitton luggage trunks.
By 1913, the Louis Vuitton Building opened on the Champs-Elysees. It was the largest travel-goods store in the world at the time. Stores also opened in New York, Bombay, Washington, London, Alexandria, and Buenos Aires as World War I began. Afterwards, in 1930, the Keepall bag was introduced. During 1932, LV introduced the Noé bag. This bag was originally made for champagne vintners to transport bottles. Soon thereafter, the Louis Vuitton Speedy bag was introduced (both are still manufactured today).[8] In 1936 Georges Vuitton died, and his son, Gaston-Louis Vuitton, assumed control of the company.[8]
In 1938 the writer Eric Newby bought a Louis Vuitton trunk from a railway lost property shop in London's East India Dock Road, to take with him on board when he shipped as an apprentice on the four-masted square-rigged sailing ship Moshulu, on what turned out to be the last Grain Race between Australia and Europe. He went out in 1938 and sailed back in 1939. He tells of his adventures in his autobiographical book The Last Grain Race.
Collaboration[edit]
During World War II, Louis Vuitton collaborated with the Nazis during the German occupation of France. The French book Louis Vuitton, A French Saga, authored by French journalist Stephanie Bonvicini and published by Paris-based Editions Fayard[10] tells how members of the Vuitton family actively aided the puppet government led by Marshal Philippe Pétain and increased their wealth from their business affairs with the Germans. The family set up a factory dedicated to producing artifacts glorifying Pétain, including more than 2,500 busts.
