Evian les Bains lac Léman (Haute-Savoie), ville d'eau HD
Evian est une toute petite ville de Haute-Savoie (8 500 habitants), en bordure du lac Léman (lac de Genève) et pourtant mondialement connue grâce à son eau minérale, provenant entre autres de la source Cachat.
Elle est connue aussi pour son thermalisme et abrite de très beaux bâtiments en front de lac : le Casino bien sûr, le Palais Lumière, l'Hôtel Royal, l'Eglise Notre Dame de l'Assomption...

Evian les Bains è un comune francese che si affaccia sul lago di Ginevra (o lac Leman), nel dipartimento dell'Alta Savoia.
Cittadina dall'aspetto aristocratico, posta fra lago e montagna, Evian gode di un ambiente naturale davvero eccezionale che ne ha fatto un luogo turistico di fama internazionale, con un importante centro termale, un casinò, diversi hotels e soprattutto la omonima acqua minerale famosa in tutto il mondo.......non a caso Evian viene infatti chiamata la città dell'acqua......!!
Soggiornare là qualche giorno è certamente molto gradevole. La cittadina mantiene la propria situazione di privilegio con una elevata architettura del paesaggio dove l'ordine, la pulizia urbana e la cura del dettaglio sono ai massimi livelli.
Magnifico è il lungo-lago dove è piacevole passeggiare accarezzati dalla brezza e caratteristica la centrale Rue de l'Eglise dove la domenica mattina si svolge un singolare e coloratissimo mercatino.
Evian si presta inoltre come punto di partenza per belle escursioni sull'intero lago, in particolare la città svizzera di Losanna situata proprio di fronte è raggiungibile in circa mezzora di battello.

Lake Geneva Cruise to Evian - Switzerland to France
You can't visit Lake Geneva, (or lac Léman to the Swiss), without enjoying the antique, (and very comfortable) cruise boats and ferries.
We needed a boat from Montreux, (on the north, Swiss, shore), to Evian, (on the south, French, shore). We departed in the evening and enjoyed a long sun-set on the water.

Évian-les-Bains or Évian is a commune in the northern part of the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France.
A high-market holiday resort and spa town on the shores of Lake Geneva (French: Lac Léman), it has been visited, over two centuries, by royalty such as Kings Edward VII and George V of the United Kingdom and King Farouk of Egypt, and celebrities such as countess Anna de Noailles and Marcel Proust.
The springs of Evian were still rather unknown at the time of the French Revolution. But the First Empire's interest for spa towns inspired a scientist to analyse the Evian springs in 1807 and 1808.
A lakeside port and a new road (RN5) connecting the town to Milan and Paris were constructed in 1809. In 1823, Genevan entrepreneur M. Fauconnet launched the Évian mineral water company (Société des Eaux Minérales d'Évian) and purchased the cities' two main springs (the better-known being the Cachat spring named after the family that sold it) in March 1827. M. Fauconnet's company eventually went bankrupt, and the springs were bought by the Hôtel des Bains. In the following years, many hotels (Hôtel des quatre saisons, Hôtel de France, Hôtel des Alpes) were built, helping the town's popularity as a holiday resort.
The Cachat mineral waters SA (Société Anonyme des Eaux Minérales de Cachat) was created in December 1859 by Parisian investors, selling Évian water, and in 1865 the small town changed its name to Évian-les-bains to promote its rise as a spa town. Three other springs joined the Cachat (Guillot, Bonnevie, Corporau). Improvement in transportation (a railroad station) helped make the town a more famous spa.
In the late 19th century, the city contained more than 20 hotels. The hills and the lakeshore were covered with noble houses and luxurious villas and a theatre and a casino were built on the lakeside. In 1902, the baths were constructed and in 1909, the architect Hébrard built one of the most luxurious hotels: the Royal Hotel. Evian considers itself one of the top European spas, claiming popularity with high society figures such as Countess Anna de Noailles, Frédéric Mistral, the Lumiere Brothers and Marcel Proust.
After World War I, the city maintained its status as a high-class spa town, hosting socialites and royalty such as Aga Khan III, the Maharaja of Kapurthala, Albert Lebrun (President of the République), King George V of United Kingdom and King Fuad I of Egypt. The Évian Conference was convened in Évian in July 1938 to discuss the problem of Jewish refugees. During World War II, German forces occupied Évian and the town's statue of General Dupas was removed.
The town is home to Évian mineral water, which adds significantly to the economy, together with the Casino d'Evian, the largest themed casino in Europe, and the Evian Royal Resort, the reported favorite holiday destination of former French President François Mitterrand and King Farouk of Egypt. Many of the inhabitants of Évian work in Lausanne and other Swiss cities nearby. The two largest hotels in Évian are the Hotel Royal (where the G8 summit was held) and the Hilton.

Entre la montagne et le lac Léman, Thonon les Bains est divisée entre ville basse et ville haute. Une ville aux nombreuses églises, que Laurent, restaurateur, connaît bien. Saint Hippolyte est la plus ancienne église gothique de la région Rhône Alpes, et on retrouve collée à elle la chapelle Saint François de Sales, construite au 19ème. Pour conserver leur patrimoine, les thononais vont parfois jusqu’à transformer les édifices, à l’image de la chapelle de la visitation, devenue musée d’art contemporain. Laurent, lui, a restauré une brasserie mythique à Thonon, restée fermée pendant plusieurs années. Une manière pour lui de conserver ce patrimoine, dans un lieu cher aux habitants.
