CARTERS LAKE - BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS, GEORGIA
Carters Lake, the deepest of Georgia's reservoir lakes, is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in both Gilmer and Murray County. It was named after Farrish Carter who lived in the 19th century. It has a surface area of 3,200 acres (13 km2) and has 62 miles (100 km) of shoreline. Carters Lake is also more than 450 feet (140 m) deep.[1]
Carters Lake, owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers, is a man-made lake without private docks or houses along its shore.[1] This lake is fed by the Coosawattee River that runs between Ellijay and Chatsworth. Carters Dam, the tallest earthen dam east of the Mississippi, was completed in 1977. Since then, it has been used to act as a watershed to control annual flooding and generate power.[2] Carters Lake is also used for various forms of outdoor recreation such as fishing, water skiing, hiking, camping, and mountain biking.[2]

The Custom Built Gazebo with dining table, and hot tub designed for star gazing or watching the sun set is a favorite for all that come! The woodsy back yard with boardwalk to the private boat dock makes it a cinch for hopping in the boat for an afternoon of water skiing or sightseeing. Enjoy a great meal on the spacious covered back porch or relax in a rocking chair with a book and your favorite beverage. Let your senses be aroused by the smells, sights and sounds of lakeside living in the mountains. Inside, the great room has a wood burning fireplace and a 32” Flat Screen TV. The beautiful and functional kitchen with stainless steel appliances provides the “Chef” a great place to create some spectacular meals. With a dining area with seating for six and a breakfast bar for two, there’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy a good meal together. The queen bedroom on the main level has a 32” flat screen TV. A full bath with tub shower combo is also on the main level. There is a Queen bedroom on the upper level that has a 35” Flat Screen TV. The third bedroom on the upper level, has a large king bed and a 32” Flat Screen TV and it`s own private bath with walk in shower. There is a full bath with tub/shower combo on the upper level as well. Aquaholic is a water lover’s paradise. Located in Blue Ridge, you are minutes from the downtown district where unique shopping and scrumptious dining abound. You are about 30 minutes from Ellijay, home of the famous “Georgia Apple Festival”.
