Lake Metigoshe State Park is a public recreation area occupying 1,551 acres on the shores of Lake Metigoshe in the Turtle Mountains, 14 miles northeast of Bottineau, North Dakota, on the Canada–US border. The state park lies adjacent to the southwest corner of the much larger Turtle Mountain Provincial Park in Manitoba. A small portion of the lake extends northward into the Rural Municipality of Winchester but is not part of either park.

An ambling two-mile hike on 07 Aug 2015 I took through forest and plain to visit North Dakota's only natural waterfall in the Sheyenne State Forest near Fort Ransom along the Sheyenne River Valley Scenic Byway.

To reach the Martinson Bridge trailhead from the community of Fort Ransom, head southeast on the Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway (Valley Rd.) and look for signs for the Martinson Bridge Trailhead located about 1-mile south on 122nd St. SE. GPS: N 46.514° & W 97.868°.
