Today was the last day of the 2019 RussMatt College Baseball Invitational. We're already looking forward to the 2020 tournament right here in sunny Auburndale!
Elite Cable Park Unleashed in Auburndale
Elite Cable Park could be called a ski resort for watersports. Cable skiing is a way to water ski or wakeboard in which the skier's rope and handle are pulled by an electrically-driven cable instead of being pulled by a motorboat. We are thrilled to have them call Auburndale home!
The park is staffed with experienced coaches offering lessons in wakeboarding, waterskiing and other watersports for all skill levels and provided Hyperlite equipment. Their Get Up Guarantee package will have you riding in no time! It includes a 15 minute one on one coaching session, equipment, your own private cable and a 4 hour cable pass.
Don't forget to check our the Park's Pro Shop and grab some lunch at Tantrum's Lakeside Grill, one of the only places to dine in Auburndale lakeside. They also have outside seating on the multi-level deck that overlooks all the watersports action.

Auburndale Neighborhood Association
Until 1965 Auburndale existed as a neighborhood under the jurisdiction of Jefferson County Government whose primary responsibility included provision of roads, police protection and as an agent of state government.
For Louisville of 1950, the City was home to scores of large manufacturing industries, tobacco processing, some of the worlds largest distilleries, a thriving commercial and cultural downtown core. Auburndale became especially attractive because of it's proximity to Iroquois Park and those from Louisville's urban core who were in search of the quieter pace of suburban living.
The hollowing out of Louisville created untenable conditions that began to fester for various reasons including.
The advantage of living downtown. People could easily and quickly commute to work from the The metro area became geographically too large to support it.
For the economy of Louisville of the 1950s was booming-Reynolds invented aluminum foil in Louisville, Seagram's had the worlds' largest distillery here, and American Standard made most of the bathroom fixtures for the country.
Taxation policies along with various political and labor disputes drove these and many other industries from the city.Zoning seemed overly restrictive.
Cities first developed to centralize living for the convenience of all. From home, shopping was nearly always within walking distance, as well as employment. Sometimes, a person could live in the upper floor of a commercial building, have a workshop or do light manufacturing in the rear, and a had storefront to sell the product.
The disruption of this balance by arbitrary and poorly thought out zoning laws eliminated the advantages of city life.
A growing fear of crime in the central city caused a substantial number of people to flee the center city.
Continued fragmentation because Louisville was made up of over 120 cities in Jefferson County - Central Louisville itself contained only about a third of the metro area population.
· Neighborhood Associations Build Relationships
A neighborhood association is one of the best ways to build relationships among neighbors. Members of a neighborhood may go years without knowing neighbors two doors away. A spirit of warmth and friendliness can be generated through the formation of an association. Additionally, through an association, neighbors can share concerns, needs and interests, which may lead to supportive and efficient problem solving.
· Neighborhood Improvement
If neighborhood improvement is a goal, local neighboring residents are the best resources to help initiate change. Neighborhood associations are a great resource for Louisville Metro staff and residents in developing long-range improvement projects.
· Create an Organized Voice
Through an association, your neighborhood has a unified voice in Louisville Metro government. The services that the Louisville Metro can provide to your neighborhood can be accessed efficiently through an association. Information on Louisville Metro services can also be provided to a greater number of neighbors through association meetings and communications, resulting in a benefit to the neighborhood as a whole.
