JTR Bricks An Awesome Day of Railfanning Lake Shore Railway Museum, North East, Pa Filmed on GoPro
This was awesome!!! We went to the Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, Pa. We saw 4 trains, explored the engines and train cars there, and had an awesome time. The first train was a 2 CSX manifest. Then things got crazy........We were going thru the passenger car when Ryan yelled TRAIN!! We ran out and found there was a train coming from both ways. The first one that came was a westbound 3 CSX manifest, the next one, a 2 CSX intermodal, came about 15 cars into the westbound. The last one, a 5 CSX manifest, came about 30 minutes later.

Open House at Tri Town Area Historical Society Museum
On December 14, 2019 I visited the Tri Town Area Historical Society Museum in Dawson, Pennsylvania. The museum houses many different types of artifacts from the area, especially from the late 19th century and early 20th century ( the coal and coke era of my area). At the time the railroads were essential in moving not only coal and coke, but also freight and passengers in and out of the area. The museum also houses Sam Powell's Pine Creek Valley RR (His model railroad depicting this area). The S scale layout was donated to the museum in 2016 and with the cooperation of the Pittsburgh S Gaugers Club, was moved from Gaithersburg,Md to Dawson,Pa. The Dawson Boro is located on the northern bank of the Youghiogheny River southeast of Pittsburgh Pa. in the heart of the region modeled on the layout. For more infromation about the Tri Town Area Historical Society and touring infromation contct Nicole Anderson at 724-529-1026 i would like to thank all the volenteers at Tri Town Area Historical Society for their hard work and dedication to preserving the area's history and making readily available to the public.

The Historic Hertz Trail And Abandoned Railroad Trestles East Of Bellingham Washington
The Abandoned Railroad Trestles along the eastern shore of Lake Whatcom are remnants of the Lake Whatcom Railway that was built to haul coal from mines along the shore of the lake. Once the coal was exhausted, the trains hauled lumber to area mills and then transported lumber down to Bellingham Bay where it was loaded on ships bound for Seattle, San Francisco and beyond.
The Abandoned Railroad Trestles can be seen from the road at the southeastern end of Lake Whatcom. The Hertz Trail runs 3.1 miles along the eastern shore and may have once continued all the way to the end of the lake until a major landslide blocked its path.

Thank you for watching my Abandoned Railroad Trestle video. Lake Whatcom is one of the most beautiful natural lakes in Washington State. Much of the land around the lake is privately owned so it is nice that there is a segment along the Eastern Shore where the Hertz Trail hugs the shoreline and gives the public access to the lake.

A Beautiful Day Along the Lake Shore
On Tuesday, July 6, 2010, I spend the day with my sister along the Lake Erie shore line, starting our day in North East, Pennsylvania and finishing up in Ashtabula, Ohio. The first stop of the day was the Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, Pennsylvania. There they have old cabooses, passenger cars, Pullman cars, and even an old electric unit build for Joe Stalin during World War Two that the United States wouldn't let him have. The museum also has an original New York Central unit. It was so cool to see all of the neat equipment, even though we didn't get to see a train go by when we were there.
The next stop was the Erie, Pennsylvania Union Station. We got some lunch right there in the old station, now a restaurant, and of course, still no train! After I finished eating, I went out by the tracks hoping for something to come. Yet, once again, we saw nothing.
After lunch, we continued West to Conneaut, Ohio, home to the Conneaut Railroad Museum. There they have an original Nickle Plate Burk shire, number 755, as well as a Bessemer and Lake Erie hopper and caboose. As we turned onto the street of the museum, we just missed a train, of course! After some more pictures, we got back in the car and continued West some more.
The last stop of the day was Point Park in the Ashtabula, Ohio coal harbor. The sun was setting, and it was just beautiful. I large ship was coming in from Canada, and NS was working in the coal yard. It was a wonderful day, and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

A Day Railfanning in Erie and North East, PA - April 14, 2011
I spent the day railfanning around Erie and North East, Pennsylvania on April 14, 2011. This is a compilation video of all the trains that I saw that day. Locations include the Erie Union Station, the Bort Road bridge over the tracks in North East, and the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society museum in North East.
Railfanning North East
The somewhat confusingly named North East, Pennsylvania is actually located in the northwest part of the state, in the northeast corner of the portion of the tab of land that extends to Lake Erie. Herewith some scenes from March 2017 including a visit to the railroad museum in town, and a scenic spot in the vineyards near the New York state border.
Sand Patch and Horseshoe Curve in 1996
Purchase a complete DVD or BLURAY of this Program-
In June 1996 while daylight hours are the longest, Terry Lewis and a friend headed out on a rail-fan trip. First stop was CSX at Sand Patch, then on to Mance and it's Horseshoe Curve. Next along Wills Creek on the East Slope, Hyndman and Cumberland. At Cumberland we visit the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
Next we move on to catch Conrail around the famous Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Cassandra, Gallitzin Tunnels, Summerhill, Lilly and Johnstown where action was non-stop.
On our way back home we stopped by Berea Ohio while Conrail was still the only rail line through town. After that we stopped by Bellevue Ohio to check out the NS hump facility in action, and finally on to Marion Ohio where Conrail, CSX and NS all cross at the Marion Union Station.
This 2 Hour and 40 minute program is packed full of Classic Railroad Action from 1996 with Road Names and Trains no longer seen today - Coal trains, No graffiti, Fantastic curves and locations, and gorgeous videography by Terry Lewis!

New York Central Railroad Museum
The National New York Central Railroad Museum is located at Elkhart, Indiana. Here is some information from their website:
At the center of it all was the New York Central Railroad. Elkhart's National New York Central RR Museum recaptures the days when locomotives were symbols of progress, and ambassadors of goodwill across the country. The Museum was founded in 1987 and is an ever growing preserver of both local and national railroad heritage. Elkhart is a natural home for the museum; its railyard is among America's largest. Then, just as it is today, Elkhart was and is a vital link between East and West during our country's growth. Visitors enter the Museum through a 1915-built passenger coach. This area introduces a timeline to the local railroad history beginning in 1833 with the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern RR, and tracing it through 1914, when the New York Central gained control of the LSMS. At the end of the coach, the path leads through the Central System Gift Shop and into the Museum's main gallery located in a 100 year old freight house complex. This area, (the old freight house), features the history of the New York Central on the local and national level. There are numerous hands-on exhibits to help visitors live railroad history.
A Gandydancer display lets the visitor construct railroad track.
The Interactive Mohawk, 3001, Steam Engine display, with bell, whistle, and throttle sounds, letting every visitor live their dream of becoming a locomotive engineer.
A video room permits one to sit and enjoy many railroad related videos.
Exhibits will also take visitors through the creation of Penn Central, Amtrak, Conrail (and in the future, Conrail's division by CSX and Norfolk Southern), to complete their railroad journey.
The new O'gauge train layout is housed in an adjacent room and is open to the public year round. A second passenger coach along the freight house serves as the Museum's archives, library and offices. Upon leaving the freight house complex, visitors exit through the Central System Gift Shop and can follow the dock down past our E8 and on out to the rolling stock collection.
Once outside, visitors will view rolling stock which include an L3a Mohawk, 4-8-2, steam locomotive, #3001 built in 1940, it is the largest piece of NYC steam equipment left in existence. The Museum also has an E-8 diesel-electric built in 1953, that will be painted in the lightning stripe motif. This locomotive, NYC #4085,was the lead locomotive of East bound 20th Century Limited when it left Chicago bound for New York City for the last time on December 3, 1967. The 4085 as she was during Penn Central. The Museum also has a PRR, GG-1 electric locomotive built in 1939 that has been painted in Penn Central livery, the only known locomotive to have been done so. In the future #4882 will be returned to its original Pennsylvania RR livery. Among the other pieces is a 150 ton crane, from Harmon,NY, built in the 1920's for the New York Central Railroad. A 1920's wooden PRR boxcar. Two B&0 steel boxcars. A 250T Self-propelled crane, ex-NYC from Selkirk, NY. A New York Central Lines, Railroad Post Office, as well as a PRR Diner.
Thanks for watching!
