Vergoritida is a lake located in Macedonia surrounded from the mountains of Verno, Voras and Vermio, at an altitude of 540 meters. It is the deepest lake in Greece - 70 meters deep, 59 km from Florina and 119 km from Thessaloniki. It is a fishing lake full of various kind of fish and has the only floating café in the country, from where you can admire the various wild birds that find haven on the steep banks of the lake. The area is designated as protected by the Natura 2000 Network.

Η λίμνη Βεγορίτιδα ή Οστρόβου είναι λίμνη της Μακεδονίας, και η τρίτη μεγαλύτερη λίμνη σε έκταση της Ελλάδας. Έχει έναν υπερτοπικό χαρακτήρα, καθώς διοικητικά ανήκει στους νομούς Πέλλας και Φλώρινας και στους Δήμους Αμυνταίου και Έδεσσας. Περιβάλλεται από τα όρη Βέρνο, Βόρας και Βέρμιο και αποτελεί το χαμηλότερο σημείο του συμπλέγματος των λιμνών Ζάζαρης, Χειμαδίτιδας και Πετρών

Cab Ride Plati to Florina back to Naousa - Lake Vegoritida
After 23 mins ride with dense fog and extremely low visibility, the train finally arrives from Plati R.S. to Veria R.S. (elevation 128 m). The line from Plati to Florina (elevation 687 m) is 159 km long and was opened in 1894 under the name Société du Chemin de Fer Ottoman Salonique-Monastir, when the area was part of the Ottoman Empire. The Greek government purchased the Greek part of Salonica - Monastir (Bitola) railway in 17 October 1925 and the railway became part of the Hellenic State Railways. The train travels alongside Lake Vegoritida, one of the most beautiful natural lakes in Greece. In this section of the Plati - Florina line there are 16 tunnels and 34 bridges with spans over 4.00m. With OSE Class 621 DMU MAN 2000 (2005).
