Mangrove Tour at Langkawi, Malaysia | Day Trip to Kilim Geoforest Park
This video will give you an idea about ‘what to expect’ from langkawi mangrove tour.
Langkawi is considered an ideal place by tourists, no matter to which part of the world they belong, and if you look at any langkawi “Must Do”or “Things to do” list, you will find “Mangrove Tour”. This mangrove tour at the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park is Langkawi’s one of the top tourist attractions.
But, before our trip to Malaysia, while me and my wife were doing research on Langkawi, we were so confused if we should include ‘Mangrove Tour’ in our ‘To-Do’ list. Because we have the world’s biggest mangrove forest in our country, Bangladesh, and we visited there many times, so we were unsure if it will be worth a day in our short langkawi trip.
If you are in confusion too, this video will help you to decide.
Tips:
▶ Don’t book the trip online (they are mostly overpriced), in langkawi streets you will find plenty of tourist information booths, buy from them. (They will also provide free hotel pick and drop)
▶ It’s better to compare price of at least 2-3 tour operators before finally book one
▶ Be careful when visiting the monkeys, the often jump on the boats and take tourist’s foods/camera etc.
▶ Half day trip (6 hour) is recommended

MANGROVE TOUR LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA
Another day on the beautiful island of Langkawi, Malaysia!
After renting scooters to explore waterfalls and beaches, today we decided to do a Mangrove tour in the Kilim Geoforest Park.
It was a 40 minute scooter ride from our hotel by Cenang Beach, was it worth it?
Mangrove Tour in Langkawi (Day 4)
►Blog:
►Follow on Instagram:
On Day 4 in Langkawi we started the day by heading to the Kilim Geo Park Mangrove, which is a park in Langkawi dedicated to preserving the mangroves. The best way to get around is to rent a boat, so we had a boat that took us around to a variety of different stops. After getting in the boat our first stop was the bat cave, which was filled with bats. After checking out the bats we continued back into the boat and stopped at a place called Gua Langsir, which was kind of like a crater that fills with water depending on the tide of the ocean.
After visiting a variety of different sites we continued on the mangrove tour by just cruising on the boat. It was nice to just sit and relax and enjoy the cool breeze as we glided through the water. Mangrove trees are very important in Langkawi and they are protected on the island. After riding the boat around for a while we continued on to a section where there are a number of different floating restaurants. We stopped at Hold in The Wall Restaurant to first go to the fish farm. They had quite a nice selection of huge fish, and they fed them. It was very interesting to see, especially the stingray. The stingray felt like an elephant, but slimy.
We had lunch at Hole in The Wall Floating restaurant on the Langkawi mangrove tour, but the food was not good. It was salty and sweet, but overpriced and I think the flavors were very toned down - quite touristy.
After the Langkawi mangrove tour we had a little extra time, and so with the help of our guide and driver, we stopped at a local Malaysian wedding taking place at someones house right along the road. I’m going to edit a full video about this experience, because it was incredible, but in the Langkawi video I just included a quick teaser.
Finally, for dinner we went to The Andaman hotel and ate at The Japanese Restaurant. Overall the Japanese food was pretty good.

Mangrove Tour - Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, LANGKAWI - Malaysia
We had the best day exploring Kilim Karst Geoforest Park by boat. We got to visit the bat cave, the crocodile cave (named for its shape - there are no crocodiles), a fish farm, see the local eagles feed from the fish, and then out towards the open sea.
The whole tour was beautiful. You see the mangroves. the limestone rocky mountains, different fish, monkeys and the majestic local eagles.
This is definitely something I recommend doing while in Langkawi.

MANGROVE TOUR in LANGKAWI | TRAVEL MALAYSIA [2019]
Welcome to Langkawi Mangrove Kilim Geoforest Park. It is a fun tour suitable for younger and elder people. Book for private tour of Mangrove Tour Kilim Geopark Langkawi.
This area actually consists of three river estuaries that stretch from the Kisap village approximately 10 km to Tanjung Rhu and they are all interconnected. There is also a bat cave within the Geoforest Park, a favorite stop for tourists. Limestone, inherently porous, forms caves and there are several in the mangroves.
Back to the tour, you will make a stop at Bat Cave. The boatman will berth the boat closely to the jetty, so you can step out to the stairs that lead to the cave mouth. Walk along the walkway to the cave entrance, then enter the cave. Once you inside, you will 'feel' something on top of you. That are the bats. Use the torch light to spot them - hundreds of bat hanging at the cave ceiling. If you snap a photo with the flash on, you will able to see the bats and the cave ceiling clearly on your monitor screen. Keep walking. At the other end, there is another cave mouth, so you just walk straight further and start looking outside of the cave with half round until come to the jetty - the boat is ready to proceed your tour.
Faizal Mangrove Nature Tour not only with the cave but also a tour to explore and knowing the animal, birds and dolphin. The boat continue to cruise to the area where the boatman will throw some chicken intestine into the water, in minutes, a dozens of Brahminy Kite fly out from the mangrove trees to catch their 'food'. Snap the flying eagle with your camera. The eagle is flying up and down around the boat. This what they called eagle feeding.
Done with the eagle feeding, proceed your tour to the open ocean, here you can see Street of Malacca. Over there look at the huge signage saying 'KILIM GEO FOREST PARK'. Many people went there to take photo of the signage.
The tour is not end yet, because the boatman will then proceed to the Crocodile Cave. It is a cave but without a crocodile. Unlike Bat Cave, we can meet bats, but not Mr. Croc. During low tide the cave mouth is left open and the boat can easily enter the cave with the boat. It don't have dry floor for you to walk on. Just by boat.
Fish Farm is another stop in tour. Here at the fish farm, people come to see different types of fish and the one that will interest you is the stingrays. Many love to feed them because they are tame animals.
But if you opt with 3 hours tour, we will be going to beach. Over there of course beach activities will take place. Don't forget your swimsuit.
We have also 4 hours tour and this time we will ad one island for you to visit. At Dangli Island, you will see big hanging bat. Not a kind of bat that you saw at bat cave.
Sometime the boatman will arrange the tour in different way.
If you plan to have lunch somewhere during the tour, please do that after you complete the tour. Try not to waste time at the table waiting for your lunch. We will consider the waiting time is a part of the tour. Kindly tell the boatman to drop you at anywhere that you like to have lunch.
Langkawi Mangrove Tours - Langkawi offers some truly unforgettable sights and experiences on this tour to the Kilim Nature Park; an escape to another world. Spread over an area of 100 sq km, the Kilim Nature Park features a beautiful mix of well-protected green mangrove forests, isolated white beaches and blue lagoons. As you cruise down the calm, winding river, you will observe the wonders of the park's marine ecosystem, its flora and fauna and the natural inhabitants such as the over-hanging 'Bogak Trees', Brown Eagles, Tree Crabs, Monitor Lizards and Macaques.
Also enjoy the scenic and spectacular views of unique limestone rock formations emerging from the floor of the mangrove swamp and seabed. These fascinating geological wonders have been given various names such as the Temple Of Borobodur, the Elephant Stone and the Hanging Gardens. Explore the Gua Kelawar (Bat Cave) and seeped in fabled tales of mysteries and romance. Finally, enjoy watching the farming of fish in specialised farms in the open sea.

LANGKAWI MANGROVE TOUR TO KILIM GEOFOREST PARK | Vlog 8 Wanderlust On Wheel
Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, this 100 square kilometer area in Langkawi is a nature reserve and a collection of geo-sites full of amazing flora & fauna, and stunning geological formations like mammoth limestone rocks, fossils, caves, lagoons, beaches and seascapes.
The whole area is administered and protected by the Peninsular Malaysia Forestry Department. It is part of the larger Langkawi Geopark and one of the biggest hot spots of Eco tourism in the entire region. The approach to the Kilim Geopark is through the Kilim river. You will need to take a tour on a motor boat that starts from the Kilim Jetty or the Tanjung Rhu bay area both located at the north eastern end of Langkawi. A guided boat tour would be ideal to appreciate all the attractions in Kilim Geopark. We negotiated a private single motor speed boat at 300 RM for 4 hours.
Places that we covered during this half day tour are Bat Cave, Floating Fish Farm, Crocodile Cave, Eagle Watching, Sea mouth tour and missed the beach as it started to rain heavily. Boat package can be negotiated at various travel agencies available at Chenang market. The packages ranges from 2-6 hr with option for Lunch at floating fish farm.
