Commute from Redmond to Federal Way at 6:00PM (Seattle Area)
I cut the last few minutes so you have to work harder to find where I live. You can also ignore the date and time on the dash camera, they were reset. This is what I go through every day. Twice. I work in Redmond, WA. I love my job, and the commute to my home in Federal Way, WA is worth it every day. The distance is 38 miles. I wanted to show what traffic is like on an average Seattle day. Seemed really foggy as I got into Federal Way.
Some clarifications:
I am not speeding at any time. There is this weird phenomenon called Everyone is going 50 and when I'm going the speed limit it looks exxagerated on camera and seems like I'm flying around, I'm not. You will see about halfway through a black audi or somethin cut me off going about 85-90
I am not tailgating anyone, unless you count stop-and-go traffic
The rattling you hear occasionally is the power wire for the dash camera, I didn't notice until I got home that it was loose
It is a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, 3.4 Litre with some mods, the engine sounds louder than it is due to the dash camera being mounted to the windshield
My subwoofers are turned off, to not completely destroy audio quality, not that it is spectacular in the first place
I will cite all the songs I listened to, eventually. You can ask and I'll answer in the mean time
Ron Sims Brightwater Groundbreaking
US SENATE BANKING COMMITTEE CONFIRMS RON SIMS IN THE HEAT OF MALFEASANCE ACCUSATIONS.
UNINFORMED CONSENT, WASHINGTON STATE - After an unusual citizens uprising that documented Ron Sims legacy of misdeeds for leaders in DC, the US Senate Banking Committee, without question, voted unanimously to confirm King County Executive, Ron Sims to go on to the vote at the Senate to be the Deputy Secretary of HUD.
Sims brings no housing experience to the job. He has no background or knowledge in banking or mortgages, which is exactly what the hands-on oversight HUD position is designed to oversight.
As Deputy Secretary of HUD, Sims would be in charge of $39,000,000,000 (billion) of bailout monies at HUD.
Sims has been the Executive of King County after first being appointed as executive from his appointed position as county councilman after then councilman Gary Locke won the county executive position in 1989. Lockes executive position was vacated in 1992 when he won the State Governor seat.
In 1998, Sims became the center of a 12-year local scandal when he made public remarks referring to a study justifying the implosion of the King Dome stadium to build Quest Field in support of a citizens referendum.
When asked, Sims and his office refused to produce that study before the citizen referendum vote, which resulted in a 12 year litigation brought by Armen Yousoufian.
Sims lost virtually all the way to the State Supreme Court whose January 09 affirmative decision against him was only awaiting the amount of penalties levied against King County (and the taxpayers), until Yousoufian alerted the US Senate banking committee regarding his case.
With the deadline for a Supreme Court reconsideration long past, King County inexplicitly filed an appeal two weeks prior to Sims confirmation hearing while Sims, under questioning from reporters and some committee staff, took the position that Yousoufian did his office a great service litigating for 12 years because his office needed the clean up. And oh by the way, Sims pointed out, Mr. Yousoufian won an award for his work in open government.
This was not an isolated cry. Investigative journalist Stefan Sharkansky (Sound Politics) also alerted the committee prior to the confirmation.
During a very tight 2004 Washington State governor race, Sharkansky noticed that there was a discrepancy in the thousands of ballots that could have changed the outcome. This is what precipitated his a public records request.
There were several recounts and a court case. While it seemed certain Dino Rossi was ahead, overnight it reversed and incumbent Christine Gregoire was suddenly ahead by 133 votes.
Sims office, which ran oversight over the elections office, refused to produce the requested documents until 4 years later.
Interestingly, Sims lost his own bid in that same governortorial races primary months earlier.
Just 2 weeks ago Sharkansky settled with King County for $225,000, the largest settlement in the states history in an open government case.
Yousoufian and Sharkansky were not alone in their sojourn at the Senate Committee.
Emma Dixon, a member of a local citizens group known as SKEA, Snoh-King Environmental Alliance consisting of some 500 members, also joined the fray alerting the committee.
Also in 2004, Sims circumvented public referendum, in the face of much public outcry.
He personally chose to place a $2.1 billion-dollar sewer treatment plant 15 miles inland over some of the most dangerous earthquake faults in the world. This location doubled the cost of the already obsolete and uncompleted plant.
1 billion was for the tunnel company, who was now at the helm of a questionable engineering feat to cross 100s of additional fault lines to reach Puget Sound outfall.
SKEA formed and immediately filed suit against King County and Sims office.
Under Sims oversight, a continuing trail of circumventing and obstructing public justice, with overtly creative legal council, resulted over the next few years apparently on several fronts at the same time.
The average operating budget for the plant runs $43.75 million a month. Sims made promises of new jobs and the American Dream. See YouTube Video of the Brightwater Groundbreaking before all the permits were in.
This ceremony, held during normal work hours, invited King Co employees, politicians, Brightwater contractors, union members and builders who would build the houses. The members of the public who learned of the event were sequestered outside with their protest signs and largely ignored.
It was clear at the time, even without the additional economic tanking, that these promises were unrealistic simply because there were not enough warm bodies available to fill the sewer-required housing that were being built. This, itself, created an unstable excess of housing inventory.

Presidents’ Day is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present. The shift from Washington’s Birthday to Presidents’ Day began in the late 1960s when Congress proposed a measure known as the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. Championed by Senator Robert McClory of Illinois, this law sought to shift the celebration of several federal holidays from specific dates to a series of predetermined Mondays. The proposed change was seen by many as a novel way to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers, and it was believed that ensuring holidays always fell on the same weekday would reduce employee absenteeism. While some argued that shifting holidays from their original dates would cheapen their meaning, the bill also had widespread support from both the private sector and labor unions and was seen as a surefire way to bolster retail sales.
The Uniform Monday Holiday Act also included a provision to combine the celebration of Washington’s Birthday with Abraham Lincoln’s, which fell on the proximate date of February 12. Lincoln’s Birthday had long been a state holiday in places like Illinois, and many supported joining the two days as a way of giving equal recognition to two of America’s most famous statesmen.
McClory was among the measure’s major proponents, and he even floated the idea of renaming the holiday “President’s Day.” This proved to be a point of contention for lawmakers from George Washington’s home state of Virginia, and the proposal was eventually dropped. Nevertheless, the main piece of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act passed in 1968 and officially took effect in 1971 following an executive order from President Richard Nixon. Washington’s Birthday was then shifted from the fixed date of February 22 to the third Monday of February. Columbus Day, Memorial Day and Veterans Day were also moved from their traditionally designated dates. (As a result of widespread criticism, in 1980 Veterans’ Day was returned to its original November 11 date.)

START Finish Line: US Senate OKs nuke deal with Russia
The U.S. Senate has finally approved the new strategic arms reduction treaty with Russia, after months of bitter and divisive wrangling. The decision has been hailed by both Washington and Moscow as a huge positive step. Nevertheless, Russian officials say they must study the ratification resolution in detail, before approving the treaty. The country's State Duma chairman says if the Senate document doesn't alter the text of the deal - voting could happen on Friday.

Impeachment trial of President Trump | Jan. 21, 2020 (FULL LIVE STREAM)
Today, the Senate will vote to start President Trump's Senate impeachment trial with a resolution that sets up the rules of the trial, including how long it will last and how long everyone has to speak. Each side will get a set amount of hours to present its case for or against the president.
President Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Impeachment does not mean that the president has been removed from office. In the next phase, the Senate must hold a trial to make that determination. A Senate impeachment trial has happened only two other times in American history and once in the modern era. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son. GEORGE WILL: THE FUTURE OF CONSERVATISM
This program is part of our Ethics and Accountability series, underwritten by the Travers Family Foundation.
George Will has been a columnist for The Washington Post since 1974 and is one of the most influential political pundits today. He is vocally dissatisfied with the directions that both the American Right and Left have dragged the nation. His new book, The Conservative Sensibility, asks Americans to revisit their history books and remind themselves of the values America was founded upon—values which he sees both sides of the aisle straying dangerously far from.
The book covers everything from the natural rights of man and the history of American democracy to the modern capitulation of congressional checks on the power of the executive. He believes the solution to many of the high-profile political issues of today can be found by going back to the founders’ intentions for the nation, and by grounding modern solutions more solidly in a historical context.
People of all political affiliations have found themselves in agreement with much of what he has to say. Join us for a conversation with one of the most respected journalists and political commentators in the nation.

License-plate spray foils traffic cameras
By Steve Sexton
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Motorists have litigated against them, fired bullets at them and thrown garbage on them — all to get back at the traffic cameras that have caught them in the act of running a red light or speeding.
Now they have a new weapon in their arsenal, and it comes in a can for $29.99. A clear spray called Photoblocker can be applied to license plates to make them hyper-reflective and unreadable when the camera flashes.
The product, marketed by online merchant Phantom Plate (phantomplate.com), defies laws that preclude motorists from placing covers over their license plates but have no provisions for a clear spray.
The marketing director for Photoblocker, said he knows of no jurisdictions that ban the spray. Most states have laws against obscuring or distorting license plates, but Photoblocker obscures the license plate only in a photo, Mr. Scott said, making it legal or at least difficult for police to detect with the naked eye.
The District, Maryland and Virginia all have laws permitting the use of red-light cameras, and the Federal Highway Administration says 21 states have red-light or speed-detection cameras in place or are considering installing the devices.
Lt. Patrick Burke of the Metropolitan Police Department said the spray isn't banned by any laws in the District, but he has yet to see a spray that is effective.
The spray might slip through a loophole in state law, said Steve Kholer, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, who said he had not heard of the product. Citations in California can cost up to $275.
If the spray becomes a problem, Mr. Kholer said, the law will catch up with it.
Critics of traffic cameras say the devices violate privacy and enforce unfairly. Mr. Scott says use of the cameras constitutes entrapment.
Decent folks — law-abiding citizens — are getting penalized left and right for clearing intersections a little too late, or entering and then backing up, he said, adding that one client reported being ticketed for a red-light violation when he was part of a police-escorted funeral procession.
He said thousands of cans of Photoblocker have been sold.
The cameras were put in place just to raise revenue and not to make things safer, Mr. Scott said.
The District has collected $21.6 million in fines since August 1999 from its 39 red-light cameras. An additional $29 million has been collected from speed cameras since their installation in August 2001.
Roy Reyer, a former police officer, operates PhotoBuster.com, a Web site that distributes a product similar to Photoblocker called Photo Fog. He said anger with the Big Brother attitude of governments has fueled the innovation.
Clear license plate covers preceded the spray. They deflect light to make plates unreadable from the side and from above, but not from directly behind a car. Some jurisdictions that employ the camera-enforcement technology have banned these products.
That hasn't stopped Phantom Plate and other distributors from selling the covers. Clear Covers advertises them online as a great way to protect your front license plate from dust, dirt and bugs.
In a game of innovation to stay ahead of traffic enforcement, the market has produced radar detectors and radar jammers — now banned in some states — as well as a license plate cover that deflects police radar.
Motorists aren't the only ones with clever tricks. Paradise Valley, Ariz., considered hiding its radar cameras in cactus plants along roadways, the Weekly Standard reported. Outrage from residents forced officials to reconsider.
