Nevada's Indian Territory
It’s a land of natural and cultural treasures. A land where pelicans splash around in the middle of the desert. Where antelopes are sometimes spotted racing alongside a car or a bighorn sheep sipping from a spring. Where sunsets and sunrises transform mountains into pillars of fire. And where fish swim in ancient lakes. Most importantly, a land where Native Americans celebrate their past while building a hopeful future.
Nevada’s Indian Territory. Home to four major American Indian tribes—the Washoe, Northern Paiute, Southern Paiute and Western Shoshone—who all feel a deep connection to the environment and all its gifts. These tribes sustained their ethnic identity longer than in other areas because it took longer for Euro-Americans to settle there.
You’re invited to explore Nevada’s Indian Territory. To immerse yourself in the culture and the majestic landscape. And to meet the strong and brave people whose ancestors were stewards of this land for millennia.

Skiing in the desert? You'd better believe it.
Remember that the Spanish word nevada means snow-covered, which should tip you off about how much powdery stuff the mountains around Vegas get every winter.
The Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers of all ages.
At almost 2,600m above sea level, the base lodge rents ski and snowboard equipment (from $35) and sells day passes ($30-$60) for four lifts that take skiers to the start of 11 different trails.
There's a terrain park and pipe for snowboarders. The ski resort is about an hour's drive north-west of the Strip.

2016-01-06 Mt Charleston, Las Vegas NV - Winter Drive
It had been snowing for about a day, the remnants of a storm from California. Earlier this week, Sam and I drove up to Mt. Charleston in a light snowstorm, and the plows hadn't even been on the highway. This date, Nenno and I took the same drive to the top of the mountain once again. Nenno loves this short but very dramatic drive. It had stopped snowing less than 24 hours prior and being Wednesday and the middle of the week, locals could have hardly begun to leave their foot prints in the fresh show, and the branches and pine needles hung heavy with snow as we neared the top, out destination. This is the edit with out the background music, which I hope to replace at a later date.

MT CHARLESTON SNOW STORM 2017
8 Ft. of snow bombarded the little town of Rainbow Canyon on top of 12000ft. high Mt. Charleston in Las Vegas about a month ago. I was one of two people who made it to the top that day. Thank you: Mr. Tacoma, and the Highway Patrol for waving me through. I still can't figure out how the Prius passed me up the mountain.

My Family goes to hoover dam (2019)
Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over one hundred lives. Originally known as Boulder Dam from 1933, it was officially renamed Hoover Dam, for President Herbert Hoover, by a joint resolution of Congress in 1947.
Since about 1900, the Black Canyon and nearby Boulder Canyon had been investigated for their potential to support a dam that would control floods, provide irrigation water and produce hydroelectric power. In 1928, Congress authorized the project. The winning bid to build the dam was submitted by a consortium called Six Companies, Inc., which began construction of the dam in early 1931. Such a large concrete structure had never been built before, and some of the techniques were unproven. The torrid summer weather and lack of facilities near the site also presented difficulties. Nevertheless, Six Companies turned the dam over to the federal government on March 1, 1936, more than two years ahead of schedule.
Hoover Dam impounds Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States by volume (when it is full).[6] The dam is located near Boulder City, Nevada, a municipality originally constructed for workers on the construction project, about 30 mi (48 km) southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The dam's generators provide power for public and private utilities in Nevada, Arizona, and California. Hoover Dam is a major tourist attraction; nearly a million people tour the dam each year. The heavily traveled U.S. Route 93 (US 93) ran along the dam's crest until October 2010, when the Hoover Dam Bypass opened.
