Finding Good Crappie Fishing Spots
Jason made a point in the fall and winter to look for new crappie fishing spots with his electronics. He started in some productive arms of the lake and idled along break lines looking for brush piles with fish.
These creek channel edges are often where fishermen like to drop their brush piles. So Jason scanned with Lowrance HDS 3D Structure Scan for likely looking spots and brush piles until he found schools of crappie holding on them.
Once he saw a good school of fish on a brush pile, he stopped and fished it. He would cast a jig over the top, when they quit biting that, he would pitch to the piles from a closer distance, and finally he would get right on top of them and fish vertically on the pile.
He had one of the best fall/winter periods for crappie fishing in recent years by getting out and hunting for fish more with his electronics.

Driving across the Sanibel Causeway in Florida
driving from Sanibel to Fort Myers across the bridge and causeway on Labor Day 2012.
The Sanibel Causeway is a causeway in Southwest Florida that spans the San Carlos Bay, connecting Sanibel Island with the Florida mainland in South Fort Myers. The causeway consists of three separate two-lane bridge spans, and two man-made causeway islands, which are located between each of the three bridges. The entire causeway facility is owned by Lee County and operated by the Lee County Department of Transportation.
There is a six dollar toll in effect for island-bound vehicles only, and there is no additional toll for vehicles exiting the island. The toll facility accepts Florida's statewide SunPass prepaid electronic toll collection system, along with Lee County's Leeway prepaid toll system, which is also used on the Cape Coral Bridge and the Midpoint Memorial Bridge.
As drivers heading towards the island pass through the Toll Plaza located on the mainland in Punta Rassa, they head west and cross Bridge A, and land on the first man-made causeway island. On this first island, the road turns south, and then crosses Bridge B, which lands on a second causeway island. After the second island, the road crosses Bridge C, which then lands on Sanibel Island. The distance from the Toll Plaza to touchdown on Sanibel is approximately 3 miles (5 kilometers).

Exploring Punta Gorda - Future Sailing Destination
With the boat nearing completion we are starting to think about our next destination. The last thing we want to do is stay in one spot with a newly refit sailboat. We take the time to head over to the west coast of Florida and check it out from Bradenton south to Fort Meyers. We really like the Punta Gorda area. The entire Charlotte Harbor area. We checked out the waterways all the way from the Peace River near Punta Gorda down to the barrier islands of Cayo Costa and Boca Grande. We explored the clear waters of the bay and the calm, clear blue Gulf of Mexico. We saw dolphins and manatee and stopped by a small little-uninhabited island and did some swimming. While we were swimming, we saw a tarpon swimming in the water. We even had lunch at a quaint little cottage and restaurant on the island of Cabbage Key.
The boat work is getting ready to continue, but this was an excellent break from it. It was spring break for Chazzy (12-year-old), so we took advantage of the fact that we have a camper now. It is awesome that we can just connect to the truck and head out. We have it completely stocked with everything we need, so off we can go. Heck, we even did the most red-neck thing possible, and that was we camped in a Walmart Parking lot on the drive out toward Punta Gorda.
Here are a few links to the places that we visited and stayed. I would recommend all of them. The campground was immaculate, well maintained, lots of amenities, activities and lovely staff.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
