#shopping #leegardens #shops #hongkong #discoverhongkong
Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Lee Gardens One and Two Shopping Malls in Causeway Bay. Our video is filmed in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here.
Lee Gardens One and Two are connected via a bridge. Lee Gardens Two focuses on high end brands childrens clothes. Lee Gardens One focuses on high end brand names for adults.
'Lee Garden (Chinese: 利園) is a hill south of East Point and west of Causeway Bay on the Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong, approximately the area between Percival Street, Hennessy Road and Leighton Road. It was also known as Jardine's Hill or East Point Hill.
In the early 19th century, the land of East Point, including the hill, was largely owned by Jardine-Matheson and as a result the hill was known as Jardine's Hill. In 1923, Hong Kong tycoon Lee Hysan bought the Jardine's Hill property, west of Causeway Bay from Jardines for HK$3.8 million, and developed the property into a hotel. The site has since been redeveloped as a commercial development which includes office accommodation and a shopping mall
The area also contained Lee Garden One (formerly called Manulife Plaza), Two, Three, Five and Six. They were owned by Hysan Development.[1]:185'

ULTRA HD 4K HONG KONG WALKING - CAUSEWAY BAY 銅鑼灣 PART 1
#4K #UHD #hongkong #hongkongtourism
In this Hong Kong walking video, we walk about in Causeway Bay. The areas covered are Leighton Road, The area near Times Square, and the area near Lee Gardens. This video is filmed in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality as if you are here.
Causeway Bay is a very famous shopping area, with Time Square being the most famous shopping centre in the area. The famous Apple Store is also located in Causeway Bay, as are many other brand names. Other famous shopping centres in the area include Hysan Place, Sogo, and Windsor house. We will be filming in Windsor house in our next video.
Hong Kong Wandering TV walks and drives around Hong Kong so you can see the best highlights, places of interest, shops and roads.
'Causeway Bay borders the Eastern District. Causeway Bay includes Tsing Fung Street, Causeway Bay market, the Victoria Park, the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Jardine's Noonday Gun, the Police Officers Club, Queen's College and the Hong Kong Central Library. The western border of Causeway Bay is considered to be marked by Canal Road, which separates it from the Wan Chai area.
Since 1982, two sub-districts of Causeway Bay (Causeway Bay North and Causeway Bay South) had been grouped into the Eastern District of district board elections, whilst Causeway Bay Middle was grouped with the Wan Chai District to the west. However, local government decisions—other than electoral demarcations—still affect the region as a whole. Since 1994, Hong Kong district board elections have further been sub-divided into smaller districts. The northern sector consists of the area around Victoria Park, the middle sector coincides with the central business district, and the southern sector forms the area around Tin Hau.
To cope with population change, the constituency boundary between Wan Chai District and Eastern District was changed in the new year day of 2016. As a result, the Victoria Park and Tin Hau became a part of Wan Chai District starting from that day. As a consequence, the whole of Causeway Bay is now part of Wan Chai District.
Regional and city-based government organisations, like the Causeway Bay Market, the fire station, and the Social Services Department are concentrated in the eastern part of the district, while business and shopping facilities are concentrated on the western part. Causeway Bay or East Point is one of Hong Kong's major shopping districts. It includes the 13-storey Japanese-style department store Sogo, as well as shopping centres such as Times Square and Hysan Place. There are also smaller malls such as World Trade Centre, Windsor House, Hang Lung Centre, Fashion Island, Fashion Walk, Lee Garden One and Lee Garden Two. Causeway Bay is one of the most crowded and central areas in Hong Kong. The area contains many trendy shops carrying both locally made and imported fashion and products from around the world. As such, it is a popular social spot for young people. Many shops are open until after midnight.
Notable hotels in Causeway Bay include The Excelsior and Regal Hong Kong Hotel. Several boutique hotels have opened recently including Mira Moon Hotel on Jaffe Road.
For years, Jardine Matheson has fired a cannon shot at noon every day in Causeway Bay, by Victoria Harbour, slightly eastward of the former Kellett Island. The gunshots have served as time signals for many generations of old inhabitants of Hong Kong. This tradition still continues today. This is the Noonday Gun mentioned in the Noël Coward song Mad Dogs and Englishmen.
Note that although the names of certain landmarks in the western part of Causeway Bay start with Wan Chai (e.g. Wan Chai Fire Station), the landmarks are across the local customary limit[citation needed] of Wan Chai on Canal Road.'

Salon | New Criticism | Digital Media and Cultural Journalism
The media is facing unprecedented challenges brought about by the digital revolution, with instant news, live streaming on social media, and virtual reality taking communications into new dimensions. How does this trend affect the way art criticism and cultural journalism are presented, and is art criticism improving as a result, or are we killing the nuance of cultural journalism to secure more page-views and followers? Does the rise of digital journalism further legitimate citizen journalism and criticism, and is this making art more accessible? Is this the golden age of cultural journalism, or are our best days numbered?

Shanghai
Shanghai is about 6400 miles from California and is the largest city in the People's Republic of China. with over 23 million people it is the largest city in the world. Located on the East Coast of China at the mouth of the Yangtze River it is also the busiest container port in the world.
The Peninsula Hotel is a five-star luxury hotel on the Bund. In Asia the number 4 is considered an unlucky number and if a hotel has a 4th floor, like a 13th floor in the West, people don't like to stay on it. The number four is very similar to the word for death. But if you stay on the 4th floor (or any floor with the number 4 in it) chances you see more Westerners than Asians. Red is considered a lucky color in China. At one time wedding dresses were in red.
Shanghai grew from a fishing village and textile town to an economic powerhouse because of the port. After the Treaty of Nanking in 1842 the city grew and by the 1930s was the financial center of the Asia Pacific region. It is rich with tourist attractions from the Bund with its historic buildings to the Pudong across the river with its futuristic skyline. They have a joke around Shanghai --- what is the city's national bird ... the crane. As in construction cranes. In the past two decades Shanghai has been one the fastest growing cities in the world. Last year the city's GDP grew to $297 billion
May is an ideal time to visit Shanghai as the temperatures mid-70s. July is usually the most hot and humid in the low 90s and the coolest month is January with temperatures dipping into the low 30s.
In the early morning dozens of men can be seen flying kites along the Bund. Some are simple while other are exotic -- even resembling dragons - a favorite symbol in China.
Watching groups of Chinese practicing tai chi in white silk pajamas along the Bund is impressive. Others jog by in a display of stamina and determination. There are also morning sword exercises but don't give them too much coffee with that pointed weapon swinging around! Where is Jackie Chen when you need him?!
The Bund is eye candy for those fond of historic architecture.
The Astor House Hotel opened in 1846 was said to be the first Western hotel in China. It moved next to Garden Bridge in 1857. Guests have included Einstein and Charlie Chaplin.
The Sasson House built in 1926 --- No relation to the If you don't look good - we don't look good - Sasson. Although in this beautiful building which is now a Fairmount Hotel - everything looks better. There is Lalique glass artwork and stunning architectural details throughout.
The Yuyuan Market is a popular tourist shopping center was originally know for its 15 century temple, The City God Temple. Today lots of Chinese arts and crafts. With over 100 shops and restaurants -- many familiar Western brands from Starbucks to Dairy Queen. The Chinese claim that ice cream was invented in China about 2000 BC when Chinese packed a soft milk and rice mixture in the snow.
Long ago silk making was a closely guarded secret in China. Anyone who gave the secret away could be punished by death.
Gossip Girl's Leighton Messter and Ed Westwick were at the opening of the new Harry Winston store in Shanghai -- the largest store of the group. Ed's Gossip Girl character, Chuck Bass, proposed to Blair Waldof with a Harry Winston 8 ct diamond ring set in platinum.
Following the opening ceremony, a gala dinner was held on the Taiping Lake nearby. Featured was a stunning fashion show, with models draped in diamonds from Harry Winston's Ultimate Adornments collection, and
Chinese traditional dresses custom designed by Judy Hua, one of the
most promising fashion designers in China. A special performance by
top Asian pop singer Jay Chou, who dazzled the audience as he
played from his famed white piano, singing the songs that showed
his distinguished talent in integrating western elements with
traditional Chinese music.
About an hour and a half drive from Shanghai is Benhai golf club. There are two 18-hole courses. The Lake Course is a Links style, designed by Peter Thomson, five times British Open Champion. It combines bunkers, fairways, and lakes. The Forest Course is 18 holes set in a tranquil forest environment.
