Lembert Dome Hike: Yosemite National Park
The hike to Lembert Dome is relatively easy at a total distance of 2.8 miles round trip, beginning at an elevation of 8,500 feet with a total altitude gain of 800 feet. The views from the top of Lembert Dome are fantastic, especially on a clear day.
Lembert Dome is a granite dome rock formation in Yosemite National Park in the U.S. state of California. The dome soars 800 feet above Tuolumne Meadows and the Tuolumne River and can be hiked starting at the Tioga Road in the heart of Tuolumne Meadows, 8 miles west of the Tioga Pass Entrance to Yosemite National Park.
Lembert Dome was named for Jean Baptiste Lembert, sometimes mistakenly referred to as John Lambert, who took up a homestead in a section of Tuolumne Meadows in 1865. By 1879 the Wheeler Survey referred to it as Soda Springs Dome. John Muir called it Glacier Rock.
Rock climbers can scale the face from the parking lot just off the Tioga Road, but hikers can simply walk up the back side or take the challenging steeper trek up the face starting from just east of the parking lot. Many technical free climbing routes have been put up.

Lembert Dome, Yosemite National Park, CA
2013.08.14, Arthur & Debbie Windsor hiked to the top of Lembert Dome. This is a terrific objective in Yosemite National Park and my most memorable. A nice sense of accomplishment reaching the summit along with 360 degrees of great views. The Rim Fire started just 3 days later. The background music is Guaranteed from Into The Wild CD by Eddie Vedder. Visit Yosemite's website on Lembert Dome:
LEMBERT DOME TRAIL YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
This hike to the top of Lembert Dome in Yosemite National Park is absolutely amazing! A 2.8 mile moderate round trip hike to one hell of a scenic overlook! It's a really beautiful heavily wooded trail till you reach the dome. Then you scramble your way to the very top and Yosemite just opens up all around you. I show you what to expect on this hike from beginning to end and how awesome it is!

Lembert Dome in Yosemite National Park
One of California's most formidable natural landscapes, Yosemite National Park features nearly 1,200 square miles of sheer awe: towering waterfalls, millennia-old Sequoia trees, striking, daunting cliff faces and some of the most unique rock formations in the United States. But despite its enormous size, most of the tourist activity takes place within the 8-square-mile area of Yosemite Valley. Here you'll find the park's most famous landmarks – Half Dome and El Capitan – as well as excellent hiking trails through the natural monuments. Even inexperienced hikers can enjoy Yosemite: Guided tours and climbing lessons are available from local adventure outfitters. Just don't expect to experience it by yourself. Like so many other American tourist destinations, crowds are the biggest obstacles to an enjoyable Yosemite vacation – approximately 4 million people visit each year. But if you go at the right time (and start your day a little earlier than usual), Mother Nature's wonders will reveal themselves to you in a miraculous and serene way. This short hike to the top of Lembert Dome offers a spectacular view of Tuolumne Meadows and some of the notable peaks of Yosemite's high country. It's less crowded and breathtaking views from the top are worth the trip. Also, Dog Lake is just a short distance from Lembert Dome.

24 Hours in Yosemite's High Country: May Lake, Clouds Rest & Lembert Dome
I met up with my friend Chris from LastAdventurer.com and we drove up Highway 395 to the Tioga Pass area of Yosemite. Most of the campgrounds were still closed so we backpacked in to May Lake to spend the night in between hiking Lembert Dome and Clouds Rest. It was about 20 miles of hiking over the 24 hours.
