RUSSIA: COMMUNISTS GATHER ON ANNIVERSARY OF OCTOBER REVOLUTION (2)
Russian/Eng/Nat
Thousands of Communists marched down Moscow's main street today in celebration of the 79th anniversary of the October revolution.
Red banners and portraits of Lenin graced an otherwise grey Moscow day and Soviet hymns blasted from loudspeakers to get demonstrators in the mood.
Participants and leaders used the 79th anniversary to voice their unhappiness with the present regime of Boris Yeltsin.
Several thousand diehard Russian communists marched through the center of Moscow this morning to mark the 79th anniversary of the Russian Revolution.
Red flags flew and Soviet workers' songs filled the streets as marchers carried red carnations and posters of Lenin.
As has been the case over the last few years, the marchers used the occasion more as a chance to lambast the government for its economic failings than to celebrate the founding of the Soviet state.
Marching at the head of the demonstrators was Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov, who told reporters that Russia was tired of political intrigue and needed a reliable government.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
This has been going on for a long time, the question is as always, how will it end. What we want is decent government and an organized rule.
SUPER CAPTION: Gennady Zyuganov, leader of the Russian Communist Party
Still another Communist leader, Victor Anpilov, used the Red Holiday to voice his views on the current President.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
I don't believe that when Yeltsin comes once again to the Kremlin that something will prove for better in this country.
SUPER CAPTION: Victor Anpilov, former Worker's Party leader
Although the marchers carried banners proclaiming The ideas of October are unshakeable the November 7 holiday has very much become a minor event since the break up of the Soviet Union five years ago.
In past years the Communists would organise a lavish march on Red Square opposite the Mausoleum which holds the mummified body of Lenin.
These days the doors of the Mausoleum remain firmly shut on November 7 and the Communists are relegated to gathering under the statue of Karl Marx.
But despite their waning numbers and outdated ideology, Russia's Reds continue to celebrate their revolution's anniversary.
Photographs of the modern-day Communist leader, Gennady Zyuganov have become as popular as those of Lenin and Stalin.
Although out of the political spotlight for now, Russia's Communists are sure their red star will rise again.

Russia's Many Cities That Should be Visited!
There are pictures I have found all over the internet! I have found the best ones so that I may share with you how beautiful of a country Russia actually is.
Some of these pictures are pictures of projects that will be or are currently bein considered and under construction in Russia. I'm pretty sure that you will be able to tell which buildings have and haven't been built yet.
I found these certain regions interesting, due to how much they have improved over the last decade (like Chechnya or Dagestan), or North Ossetia (where the Iranian Ossetians live).
Yes I have pictures of statues of Lenin and Stalin in these pictures too, but don't have a cow, its just a part of Russian everyday life. So if you don't like it, then don't go to Russia. If you still want to go then I suggest ignoring those statues of Communists leaders, in a similar way that you would do in China (ignoring Chairman Mao in Tiananmen square Square or of his statues or whatever).
Anyways, if you want to travel to these special places that I have found in Russia besides the big cities and main tourist attractions, then please see your nearest travel agent or travel site. You will need a visa, an invitation (shouldn't be too hard if you know people in Russia). For the regions belonging to the different ethnic groups, I suggest you talk to the travel agent or go to some website to look for more info.
The songs are in Russian, and don't ask me why, I just thought it would be more authentic, as for my song choice, well I chose these songs that seemed good for feeling at the time when I was making this video.
Here are the cities in order:
Moscow
St. Petersburg
Ekaterinsburg
Chelyabinsk
The Golden Ring
Rostov Na Donu
Samara
Kalmykia (Region)
Tatarstan (Region)
North Ossetia (Region)
Dagestan (Region)
Chechnya (Region)
Sochi
Siberia (Eastern Half of Russia)
Ulan Ude (Region in Siberia)

It was designed by sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich and structural engineer Nikolai Nikitin.
