USA: DA VINCI: BRONZE HORSE FINALLY COMPLETED
English/Nat
It was five hundred years in the making, but it's finally finished.
A massive bronze horse that the Italian renaissance genius, Leonardo da Vinci, envisioned but was unable to complete - has now been recreated in America, and put on display in New York.
Artists in the U-S were able to create the twenty-four foot high bronze sculpture because of drawings left by da Vinci.
Leonardo da Vinci's dream of creating a twenty-five foot high bronze horse has finally become a reality.
The Tallix foundry in Beacon, New York, will display the horse this weekend before dismantling it and shipping it to the Italian city of Milan, where it will be on permanent display.
Artists looked at sketches made by da Vinci to get an idea of what his horse might have looked like.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
This is not a recreation of his work. This is a tribute to him. And I've used the drawing as a basis for what I've done.
SUPER CAPTION: Nina Akamu, Artist of da Vinci horse
Da Vinci is said to have cried on his deathbed in 1519 AD because he was unable to complete the bronze statue.
Historians say the artist spent more than a decade planning the project.
The story goes that da Vinci was never able to realise his project because at that time Italy was at war with France.
Rather than use the bronze for the huge statue, the Italians melted it to make canon balls.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Charlie Dent was our founder - he read an article in National Geographic entitled The Horse That Never Was, it was about a horse that Leonardo was commissioned to do but never completed. He read the article and out of all the people that read that same article he said why don't we try to let Leonardo have his horse.
SUPER CAPTION: Rodney Skidmore, artistic director of da Vinci horse
SOUNDBITE: (English)
We're very proud of what we've accomplished and I hope the Italians take it in the gesture in which it's given. And that is what Charlie wanted to do originally - was to give something back and return to the renaissance and to pay homage to Leonardo.
SUPER CAPTION: Rodney Skidmore, artistic director of da Vinci horse
French troops are said to have destroyed Leonardo's clay model of the horse.
Despite that, da Vinci's dream has finally been realised - 500 years late.

Going Over Some Gun Control Points
Hello everybody, like it says in the video this is going to be a new series I am doing on the current gun debate within the United States. I feel like the original video I made on the Topic was poorly made. Not in production quality aspect (that was poor as well but not what I am speaking about) but in terms of my ability to give my information in a coherent fashion. I feel like I had good points but overall it was just dogged down by my inexperienced in making videos. So I privated it. I hope I actually went over my points better. I hope you all have a nice day.
Edit: Something was brought to my attention, being that if you make the legal age to buy a rifle 21 would impact hunters. Now you can go look in the comment section and see the comment that brought this to my attention. A solution to this would be to be able to buy said rifle you must first pass either or the hunters safety course and a general firearms course.

Celebrating the East Building Twentieth-Century Art Series, Part 9: Abstract Expressionism
David Gariff, senior lecturer, National Gallery of Art. From the mid-1940s through the 1950s painters in New York imbued their work with a heady new confidence, scale, and energy. Before and during World War II European émigrés poured into New York, including artists Max Ernst, Fernand Léger, Piet Mondrian, and the writer and surrealist leader André Breton. Their influence led to the exploration of biomorphic forms, archaic themes, and accidental processes designed to unleash the unconscious, like dripping and scraping. It is in the large canvases of the 1950s, by Jackson Pollock and others, that what one critic called “the triumph of American painting” can really be felt. These paintings increased ambition and introduced new techniques: Pollock’s rhythmic pours and drips, Clyfford Still’s dry palette-knifing, Newman’s masking-taped “zips,” Franz Kline’s chiseled gestures, and Joan Mitchell’s flurries of strokes. This generation of artists revealed new horizons in the practice of painting and the experience of viewing. As part of the series Celebrating the East Building: 20th-Century Art, senior lecturer David Gariff explores the triumph of American painting in postwar America. This lecture was presented on August 14, 2018, at the National Gallery of Art.

Hosted by Jordan Harbinger and AJ Harbinger
Most of the time, predictions we make about the future are obvious conclusions based on the trajectory of what’s already happened. But some forecasters know where to look to find the really mind-blowing stuff. Kevin Kelly is one such oracle.
As the founding editor of Wired magazine, author of numerous books ranging from technology to science fiction, and Hackers’ Conference co-founder (to name a scant few of his credentials), Kevin has always had his finger on the pulse of where our inventions are taking us. He joins us at The Art of Charm to talk about his latest book, The Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future, and what we can expect from a tomorrow that’s sooner than we probably think. Enjoy!

Michael Moore: Where to Invade Next | Talks at Google
Academy award winning filmmaker Michael Moore stopped by Google to discuss his latest film, Where to Invade Next.
Where to Invade Next is an expansive, rib-tickling, and subversive comedy in which Moore, playing the role of 'invader,' visits a host of nations to learn how the U.S. could improve its own prospects. The creator of Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine is back with this hilarious and eye-opening call to arms. Turns out the solutions to America’s most entrenched problems already exist in the world—they’re just waiting to be co-opted.

Neuroscience and Society Series: Creativity, Genius and the Brain
Scientists often cite Isaac Newton when crediting the work of others who have come before them: If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. Who are those “giants”? We know they are not limited to the sciences. Music has them. So does art. As well as literature. Do these giants possess the characteristics of genius and creativity in larger doses than the rest of us? What makes a genius? Why are some people so much more creative than others? How do people “become” creative or a genius? What influence do brain and environment have in developing and nurturing genius or creativity? These and other questions are the focus of this public event. Speakers addressed circumstances necessary to produce a cultural environment that nurtures creativity; the role of epiphanies in the creative thinking process; and how science can contribute to enhanced creativity.

How Does The Civil War Qualify as the First Modern War?
For 5,800 years of recorded history, wars were fought with pre-modern forms of transportation ad communication, where the world was powered by windmills, watermills, literal horse power and human muscle. However, this all changed with the invention of the steam engine and its implementation in the 19th century. In fifty short years, macadamized roads, canals, steam trains, steam boats, steam presses and telegraph communication revolutionized the transfer of energy and power. By the 1850s, every aspect of western civilization looked and functioned differently than it had for thousands of years. It was in this milieu the Civil War was fought. What did the first modern war look like and how did it differ from previous wars? How did wartime observations by foreign emissaries alter the course of future wars?

Are You Vegan Enough? ft. The Vegan Police
Under the ever-watchful eye of the Vegan Police, we explore the question: “When can you officially say ‘I’m vegan’? What all must you exclude? Is it enough to be free of meat, dairy, eggs and honey? Or do you have to also be careful with sugar, medication, transportation, toiletries, cosmetics, even birth control? In this video, I answer the question- to the best of my ability of when you can consider yourself vegan, and mix in a healthy dose of ridiculousness.
