Limpopo National Park communities
When the million hectare Limpopo National Park in the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park was proclaimed in 2001, Mozambique requested Peace Parks Foundation's assistance in overseeing its development. Owing to human / wildlife conflict, a voluntary resettlement programme is relocating communities living in the centre of the park, while those in the park's support zone are being assisted with improving their livelihoods.

The Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP) straddles the borders of Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe and joins some of the most established wildlife areas in Southern Africa into a huge conservation area of 35 000km² (± the size of the Netherlands).

The Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park Route
Visitors to the Limpopo Province will now get the chance to explore the area and travel to Mozambique on the off road route. The escarpment 4×4 experience links the Northern Drakensberg and the bushveld of the Limpopo Province through the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park to the beaches of Mozambique. Tourists can spend a few days in one of Southern Africa’s most renowned game parks, before reaching the pristine beaches of Mozambique, which offer activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, angling and whale-watching.
From Kruger to Mozambique

This epic adventure in December 2011 / January 2012 involved a few 4x4s, some good friends and the best of both the beach and the bush. We camped in Letaba Rest Camp in Kruger National Park and trekked via the Giriyondo Border Post to Barra, Mozambique.
