Along the way, you'll see 42nd Street, the Port Authority, Columbus Circle, Broadway, the Ed Sullivan Theater, and Times Square.
Lincoln Tunnel - Entering Manhattan (NYC)
The Lincoln Tunnel is an approximately 1.5-mile-long (2.4 km) set of three tunnels under the Hudson River, connecting Weehawken, New Jersey and Midtown Manhattan in New York City. An integral conduit within the New York Metropolitan Area, it was designed by Norwegian-born civil engineer Ole Singstad and named after U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. It is one of two automobile tunnels built under the river, the other being the Holland Tunnel. The Lincoln Tunnel carries a daily average of approximately 120,000 motor vehicles.
The 8,216-foot (2,504-metre) center tube opened in 1937, followed by the 7,482-foot (2,281-metre) north tube in 1945. The 8,006-foot (2,440-metre) south tube was the last to open, in 1957.
The tunnel is part of NJ 495 on the western half of the river, and the unsigned NY 495 on the eastern half of the river.
Shortly after noon on September 8, 1953, two armed men, Peter Simon and John Metcalf, attempted to rob a home in South Orange, New Jersey. The men were driven off by the residents, one of whom reported the license plate on their car to the police, who put out an alert. A patrolman, Nicholas Falabella, noticed the car just as it passed the toll booth into New York City and ordered the driver to stop the vehicle. The driver sped off into the tunnel, firing at the police. A Port Authority policeman, Donald Lackmun, was hit in the leg. The police commandeered a delivery truck and gave chase, exchanging gunfire with the renegade car while weaving in and out of traffic. In all 28 shots were fired, ten by the gunmen and 18 by the police. The vehicle came to a stop about three-quarters of the way through the tunnel. Simon had taken a bullet to the head.
The tunnel is considered to be one of the most high-risk terrorist target sites in the United States. Other such sites in New Jersey include the Holland Tunnel and PATH station at Exchange Place, both of which are in Jersey City, and the Port of Newark in Elizabeth.

Red Bull Racing's American Vacation
Red Bull Racing's Show Car recently completed a second All-American adventure. Driven by David Coulthard, the 2011 Championship-winning RB7 toured Liberty State Park and its spectacular views of the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The RB7 then moved on to one of the main arteries linking New York and New Jersey - the Lincoln Tunnel. Wrapping up its American vacation, the RB7 became the first Formula One car to lay rubber on the Grand Prix of America streets in West New York and Weehawken, New Jersey, bringing residents out of their homes to catch the historic sight.

Empire State Building Tour 2019 - Empire State Building New York

The Empire State Building is a 102-story[c] Art Deco skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon and completed in 1931. The building has a roof height of 1,250 feet (380 m) and stands a total of 1,454 feet (443.2 m) tall, including its antenna. Its name is derived from Empire State, the nickname of New York, which is of unknown origin. As of 2019 the building is the 5th-tallest completed skyscraper in the United States and the 28th-tallest in the world. It is also the 6th-tallest freestanding structure in the Americas. The Empire State Building stood as the world's tallest building for nearly 40 years until the completion of the World Trade Center's North Tower in Lower Manhattan in late 1970. Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, it was again the tallest building in New York until the new One World Trade Center was completed in April 2012.
The site of the Empire State Building, located in Midtown South on the west side of Fifth Avenue between West 33rd and 34th Streets, was originally part of an early 18th-century farm, then became the site of the Waldorf–Astoria Hotel in 1893.[15] In 1929, Empire State Inc. acquired the site and devised plans for a skyscraper there. The design for the Empire State Building was changed fifteen times until it was ensured to be the world's tallest building. Construction started on March 17, 1930, and the building opened thirteen and a half months afterward on May 1, 1931. Despite the publicity surrounding the building's construction, its owners failed to make a profit until the early 1950s. However, since its opening, the building's Art Deco architecture and open-air observation deck has made it a popular attraction, with around 4 million tourists from around the world visiting the building's 86th and 102nd floor observatories every year.[16]
The building stands within a mile of other major Midtown tourist attractions including Grand Central Terminal, Pennsylvania Station, Madison Square Garden, Koreatown, and Macy's Herald Square.
The Empire State Building is an American cultural icon and has been featured in more than 250 TV shows and movies since the film King Kong was released in 1933. A symbol of New York City, the tower has been named as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The Empire State Building and its ground-floor interior have been designated as a city landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and were confirmed as such by the New York City Board of Estimate. It was also designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986, and was ranked number one on the American Institute of Architects' List of America's Favorite Architecture in 2007.

Worst States to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse
When the zombie apocalypse is finally here, you’ll have to be aware of certain places that might not offer as much protection when it comes to surviving the end of days. Today we’ve got a list on you based on various factors such as elevation, access to hospitals, physical fitness, firearm ownership and so on. If the virus breaks out, these states could be in serious trouble and just
might not be ready. From flat states in the midwest, to places with dense population, here are the worst states to survive the zombe apocalypse.
Subscribe to American Eye
6. Rhode Island
This small state is about the same size as the national nevada security site but it has way less firepower to protect people. The population density in this state is pretty high which would result in the virus spreading quicker. To top it off, there aren’t a whole lot of mountains or firearms which would be useful for protection. Rhode island really isn’t an island at all and is vulnerable to getting invaded by survivors in other states such as massachusetts or new york city. There are only 3,300 active military troops ready to protect the state which definitely makes it suseptible to complete chaos!
5. Louisiana
With an obesity rate of 35 percent in this state, it’s not hard to imagine why running away from zombies might be difficult. It’s not just the popeye’s chicken here that’s got people acting like zombies either. This state has some of the most putrid swamps in the country which makes it close to impossible to survive for a long period of time. While some of the swamps might have food like crawdads or alligators to feast on, the state is as flat as a board. Good luck trying to get any vantage point in the Bayou and with all the mosquitos here, the virus should spread like wildfire. The state has the 4th worst healthcare in the country which shows how it’s just not ready to handle a widespread zombie outbreak.
4. Kansas
Another flat state makes our list, but luckily it’s close to the rocky mountains to the east. Landlocked smack dab in the middle of the country, this large and featureless state might drive many into pure insanity. There are very few places to hide from zombies unless your somehow able to find an abandoned missile silo which certainly won’t be easy. You will not only have to worry about zombies, but also tornados and freezing cold weather during winter. Imagine trying to go up against a zombie tornado. It might also be ground zero for an apocalyptic scenario if a bioweapons testing center gets hit by a storm.
3. New Jersey
New Jersey is ranked high for one of the worst places to survive the zombie apocalypse and here’s why! It’s one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Everyone knows already the New York City will be one of the hardest hit areas if the virus is able to spread there. New Yorkers will most likely try to escape and head into New Jersey via the Lincoln Tunnel, to hide out! Who knows if this tunnel isn’t already completely blocked off or not by the time you reach it.. With almost no mountains at all, there’s not going to be a whole of effective choices if you try to hide out in this state. The best way for New Yorkers to go, would be east into Long Island. And in some places like Camden, New Jersey, it looks like the apocalypse has already begun!
2. Connecticut
Connecticut is situated on the eastern coast of the united states and certainly has the good and bad things about living there. Here you got ivy league schools like yale, green pastures and beautiful beaches during summer time. The bad side: this state isn’t ready for the zombie apocalypse. Many people have already been choosing to move out of this state and the one’s still living here don’t seem to be too prepared. They rank low for gun ownership and the low elevation here makes finding a hiding spot a little bit tricky. You could probably pick a warmer climates to live the rest of your days. People have been moving from this small state at record rate but people still tend to move here primarily if they found a new job. In any case, you might be able to get inside one of the nuclear submarines found in new london or get to obama’s new house on the coast! People here are also kinda outta shape here which make it difficult to run from the hordes of zombies.

USA: NEW YORK: MOLE PEOPLE SEEKING SHELTER IN RAILWAY TUNNELS
English/Nat
For decades homeless people in New York have sought shelter in the maze of railway and subway tunnels that run beneath the city.
Their underground existence - one of almost total isolation from the outside world - has become a legend among New Yorkers.
Over the years, many have built subterranean homes where they cook, care for pets and work hard to keep out the bitter cold. And they've ignored attempts to shift them.
But now, the Amtrack railway company which owns the tunnels has decided it wants the tunnel dwellers out once and for all.
Few passers-by ever notice the tunnel dwellers slipping through these gates and descending to their underworld community.
New Yorkers know they're there, but few spare them a thought and even fewer have ever encountered them or seen how they live.
Down below, the tunnel dwellers have collected the trappings of everyday life.
Once underground, a tunnel dweller's biggest worry is watching out for the trains that speed by at 70 miles an hour. (110 kilometres per hour)
But that danger aside, some say they prefer living here, away from the chaos of modern society.
SOUNDBITE:
I basically simplified this existence. One has to be resourceful and that's the key to it all. Boiling water are the few necessities in this existence. I had ten, 12 people dwelling here for about a two-year time period.
SUPER CAPTION: Bernard Isaac, Tunnel Dweller
There's a rigorous routine to life underground; although the tunnels provide shelter, they are not warm.
Bernard's biggest priority is collecting enough wood each day to keep the fire going.
He also gets up in the early hours each day to go out to collect bottles and cans for recycling.
That's how he makes money for food and other necessities.
The hard grind means there's no time for drugs and alcohol.
Bernard and his neighbors are strictly anti-substance abuse and wouldn't welcome addicts into their midst.
Many people would find it hard to comprehend why anyone would chose to live underground.
But Margaret Morton, a photojournalist who has recently published a book about life in tunnels, has come to understand it.
SOUNDBITE:
Homeless people, interestingly enough, have created their own housing, they've created a place for themselves along the street, and they found that, ironically, it creates a situation that's much closer to what one could have in an apartment because they can have their own possessions, they can have their own furniture - a table, a chair, a desk, a bed. They can have pets, which they can't have in a shelter, and they can have a sense of community.
SUPER CAPTION: Margaret Morton, Photojournalist
Bernard has been in the tunnel for about ten years.
But soon he will be leaving, not only because Amtrak is asking him to, but because he feels ready for a new challenge.
His former neighboUr, Bob Kalinski, moved out two months ago into housing provided by the city for former homeless people like the tunnel dwellers.
He's enjoying his life above ground, but it's been a big adjustment.
SOUNDBITE:
Our average was zero to ten below. We were built, we were bundled for it and used to it and so I never had a cold. You know, it's just the idea, it wore on me after a while. The constant getting up... times I didn't want to go out... wasn't feeling good. Then after I had a heart attack it was kind of hard for me, even though we still did it.
SUPER CAPTION: Bob Kalinski, Former Tunnel Dweller
The city has started a programme to get homeless people out of shelters and off the streets and into decent, affordable housing.
Bob got moved quickly, but Bernard, one of the first to sign up, is still waiting.
Others, however, don't want to move.
