Lions Tigers and Bears - Animal Sanctuaries [Ep.10]
Across 93 acres of land in Alpine, California, Mark and Bobbi Brink have built a sanctuary for lions, tigers, bears, and more. About 60 animal residents get to live in these huge enclosures, built to offer ample space for each animal to roam. Every so often, the animals also rotate enclosures, just to keep things interesting. It’s not exactly life in the wild, but it’s arguably as good as life gets for exotic animals in America.
Bobbi began her work with big cats in Texas back in 1990, when she came across ads in the classifieds for tiger and leopard cubs for sale. The cats are cute when they’re little, but it takes only a matter of months for them to weigh hundreds of pounds. Not only that, it costs roughly $10,000 per animal each year for basic food, vaccines, and professional care. As most people don’t realize what they’re getting into with an exotic big cat, the animals are often forced to live in unhealthy, substandard conditions, or they are euthanized.
More than half the states in America allow for the ownership of these dangerous animals. As long as backyard breeders remain unregulated, the lives of countless exotic animals will continue to hang in the balance.

Lions Tigers & Bears, Founder Bobbi Brink: Starting an exotic animal rescue sanctuary
Episode 12 on Vicariously Podcast, released May 10, 2017
Bobbi Brink was already a successful entrepreneur as a restaurant owner in Texas, but that wasn't her true calling. After witnessing first hand the ugly, harsh realities of the exotic animal trade, she decided to take action. Bobbi picked up and moved to Alpine, CA purchasing 93-acres of land to start an exotic animal rescue sanctuary. For fifteen years now, Bobbi has been managing all aspects of providing for their 60+ animals, as well as organizing and executing countless rescue missions across the country to relocate various animals to other sanctuaries, all while continuing to fight for local, state and federal legislative changes. Her story, outlook on life and what she encounters on the daily makes this a must listen to episode!

She began her personal involvement with these efforts, after witnessing the abuses and neglect inflicted on captive exotics victimized by the exotic animal trade. Extinction of California Grizzly Bear || Facts & Photos
The California grizzly (Ursus arctos californicus) is an extinct subspecies of the grizzly, the very large North American brown bear. Grizzly could have meant grizzled (that is, with golden and grey tips of the hair) or fear-inspiring.
After careful study, naturalist George Ord formally classified it in 1815 – not for its hair, but for its character – as Ursus horribilis (terrifying bear).
The last hunted California grizzly was shot in Tulare County, California, in August 1922, although no body, skeleton or pelt was ever produced.
Two years later in 1924, what was thought to be a grizzly was spotted in Sequoia National Park for the last time, and thereafter, grizzlies were never seen again in California.

8-28-17 Answers for the Family Interview with Bobbi Brink
Host Allen Cardoza & Co-Host Britten Devereau
Sadly, in many areas of the United States, there are countless unwanted, neglected and abused, exotic animals kept in captivity. The number of animals bred and sold in captivity is staggering. A February 2011 report from the non-profit, Washington, DC-based research and advisory organization Global Financial Integrity finds that the illicit trade in the exotic animal industry is a $10 billion industry, falling just behind drugs, counterfeiting, human trafficking and oil.
Bobbi Brink, founder of Lions Tigers & Bears, shares with our listeners the series of events that led to the creation of her NO KILL, NO BREED, NO SELL rescue and educational facility that allows the animals in their care the opportunity to live out their lives with dignity in a caring and safe environment.
With a primary concerns are for the health, comfort and safety of their animals, Brinks has made it her life’s work to rescue and provide homes for as many of these tortured animals as possible. Their goal is to provide a safe haven for these rescued animals and to educate the public about the growing population of abused and abandoned exotic animals and where they come from.
In this very special interview Bobbi will share her other great love, inspiring her passion for animals in our children. As she explains, Lions, Tigers & Bears’ Kids Program, was designed to be more than a visit to the zoo, it is complete with an exciting educational video, followed by guided visit around the sanctuary where children will be inspired to learn about our rescued animals, their rescue stories and general facts about each species.

The secretive and solitary nature of this species makes them notoriously difficult to study and understand. Although there is much we still do not know about the secretive lives of mountain lions, innovative research techniques and technology have allowed biologists to get a glimpse into the behavior, diet, and ecology of these mysterious big cats.
In this short film by Ben Masters, get up close with Texas’ largest apex predator as biologists from the Borderlands Research Institute track, capture, and collar cougars in the Davis Mountains of West Texas.

Unbelievably rare find during river treasure hunt
Be warned,,,,, Lions and tigers and bears oh my,,,,,, and a naughty word in this vid......
Dudebro Mikey, Greg, and I headed south to do a drift dive treasure hunt. Between the three of us, we can usually make some good finds of lost sunken treasure. We all typically find box anchors, and we did today as well. But today I pulled off an exceptionally rare find. I actually found a sliding stock kedge anchor. When I say this is a rare find, I mean it is ultra rare awesomeness!!!!!!
We have found, and continue to find, scores of lost treasures underwater in the river and the lake.
Let me know your thoughts or questions in the COMMENTS section below.
