Where in Iowa is Jeff?...The Sequel
Here is the 2008 version of Where in Iowa is Jeff? From February to November, I logged 9,850 miles and collected 300 dancing clips. Between the 2007 and 2008 videos, I visited all 99 Iowa counties and drove somewhere between 15,000 and 18,000 miles.
Since last year focused on the top-tier Iowa spots, this years video visits more obscure Iowa places and enabled me to interact more with Iowans along the way. If you think you've seen all of Iowa, you are wrong. Keep looking; you'll be amazed at what you find.

Iowa Cats and Eyes in Autumn
My brother and I took part of a warm October day to fish an Iowa river. The catfish and walleyes cooperated, and it's always worth it to be outside in Autumn with your brother regardless of the angling action. I wasn't really going for much storytelling here ... just recording some spots with my son's Canon point and shoot.

700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human.
This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn't take long to find out that the STORY behind it... was fake, just another hoax.
While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle
Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it's skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved.
This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it's misery and buried it.
It's sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was.
I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook

Finding Good Crappie Fishing Spots
Jason made a point in the fall and winter to look for new crappie fishing spots with his electronics. He started in some productive arms of the lake and idled along break lines looking for brush piles with fish.
These creek channel edges are often where fishermen like to drop their brush piles. So Jason scanned with Lowrance HDS 3D Structure Scan for likely looking spots and brush piles until he found schools of crappie holding on them.
Once he saw a good school of fish on a brush pile, he stopped and fished it. He would cast a jig over the top, when they quit biting that, he would pitch to the piles from a closer distance, and finally he would get right on top of them and fish vertically on the pile.
He had one of the best fall/winter periods for crappie fishing in recent years by getting out and hunting for fish more with his electronics.

Mindwalk (1990) [Eng Captions--Spanish, Romenian]
Baseado no livro O Ponto de Mutação de Fritjof Capra
Comentário do site:
_______________
Based on the book The turning point by Fritjof Capra.
It´s the beginning of the 90´s, the world collective consciousness is still focused in mass production to feed the mass consumption. Ecological consciousness was still for a few, seen by others as fanatics.
In the middle of that consciousness scenario three characters meet: a physicist away from her job due to ethical conflicts, played by the wonderful Liv Ullman, a U.S. presidential candidate beaten in the last elections (Sam Waterson) and a poet, who has just gone through a love disappointment (John Heard).
Along the script no great romantic story, just conversations about ideas which are not new today, but at the time were quite revolutionary. Based on Fritjof Capra novel and brilliantly translated to a movie by director Bernt Capra (Fritjof's brother).
We watch a scientist presenting her holistic vision and what she could do for the world to both, the politician and the poet.
This is a film to watch again and again, specially in the present days, when we are moving into a more ecological consciousness.

2015 Isaac Asimov Memorial Debate: Water, Water
Join host and moderator Neil deGrasse Tyson and his panel of experts for a lively discussion about the past, present, and future of water on Earth.
Earth is the only place in our solar system with liquid water on its surface. Even though water makes up only 0.03 percent of the Earth’s total mass, it covers 70 percent of the planet’s surface. Where did this water come from? Why is it mostly in liquid form? How much of it is drinkable and how vulnerable is this valuable resource? Will we ever run out? Will wars of the future be fought over access to it? Will future generations harness water from space? Is water essential to all life in the universe—or just to life on Earth?
