Northern Lights from Kabelvag in Svolvaer of Lofoten Islands, Norway.
This was my 1st time of witnessing and capturing the Northern Lights in Norway. Taken on 25th December, 2016 - this was the most memorable Christmas I have ever had. The ballet of green lights went on for a full 2 hours. I absolutely loved it.

Aurora Borealis: Time-Lapse of the Northern Lights in Svolvær, Lofoten, Norway
It was such a blessing to be able to experience the Aurora Borealis in Svolvær this winter. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to see the Northern Lights every night while we were there. Due to time constraints, and the absolute freezing state of my fingers, I was only able to capture 3 short time lapse sequences of the Aurora. In this video I have edited them together. At the end there is also a daytime time-lapse from Henningsvær, a bit further out on the Lofoten Archipelago.

Other than the massive fishing industry, tourism is becoming increasingly important. Svolvær is also a major transportation hub and favourite starting point for tourists visiting the Lofoten islands.
Many artists have been inspired by the unique light in Lofoten, and there are many artists and galleries in Svolvær.
ABOUT THE AURORA BOREALIS
Aurora Borealis or the northern light is a natural light display in the sky.Auroras are caused by charged particles, mainly electrons and protons, entering the atmosphere from above causing ionisation and excitation of atmospheric constituents, and consequent optical emissions. Incident protons can also produce emissions as hydrogen atoms after gaining an electron from the atmosphere.
Auroras are occasionally seen in latitudes below the auroral zone, when a geomagnetic storm temporarily enlarges the auroral oval. Large geomagnetic storms are most common during the peak of the eleven-year sunspot cycle or during the three years after the peak.

During the summer of 2000, Fleming 55 motoryacht. Ozmaiden, visited Norway's Lofoten Islands which are well north of the Arctic Circle. During our trip we reached as far north as 68 degrees 37.039 minutes before turning south to visit the town of Svolvaer.

Lofoten Islands Nature | Svolvær / Årstein in 4K | Norway
[Lofoten Norway Nature] Next part of our travel in Norway. In this video we visited Arstein and stayed at the city Svolvaer. We went hiking in Svolvaer to one of the mountain peaks. I have to say this walk wasn’t very easy in the beginning. The path to follow wasn’t really a path you could easily follow. For me it was no problem, but I can see some people who haven’t done much hiking in their live, can have a little trouble reaching the mountain top. This area is still located at the Lofoten Islands.
We also walked to the bay of Svolvaer. This walk was something better for the whole family. Nice views and awesome places in the surrounding area.

Lofoten is an archipelago and a traditional district in the county of Nordland, Norway. Lofoten is known for a distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands. If you are seeking unforgettable nature experiences, Lofoten will definitely not let you down. Due to the area’s diverse landscape, you can go hiking, skiing, fishing, ocean rafting or scuba diving. It is also one of Norway’s best sites for surfing, and one of the world’s northernmost.
