Lone Star Motorcycle Museum, Vanderpool, Texas, Fall, 2012
A summer visit to the Lone Star Musem in Vandedrpool, Texas. This was a non-planned trip and I took some Grab Shots that I later organized into a short video. The motorcycles were great, many I had only read about but this day I got to touch them and enjoy the engineering that went into them. Lunch was great and very convenient right there next to the bikes, I was able to eat and continue to admire the motorcycles. Very relaxing and enjoyable. The county side around the Museum is fitting for a motorcycle ride to Lost Maples State Park especially in the fall to see the Maple leaves turning to a fire red.

Twisted Sisters, RM 337, west bound between Vanderpool and Leakey, Texas.
Along the south western edge of the Texas Hill Country lies three ranch to market roads that snake over hills and along, often dried river beds. RM 335, RM 336 and RM 337. They are known as the Twisted Sisters.
This video shows RM 337 from near Vanderpool to where it meets State Highway 83 at Leakey. Luckily, I was not out to set any records. This is just a nice relaxed drive down one of my favorite roads. It has great twists and elevation changes and, if your the passenger, great views of that part of the Texas Hill Country.
I usually drive west into Leakey slower than I do driving east out of Leakey. Coming down from the hill top, along cliff edges, there isn't much room for error. Going up is more fun because, when you can see enough of the road ahead, there is a lane for a safety margin.
On this trip I got stuck behind some patriotic bagger motorcyclists. For the road that it is, their pace was good for a motorcycle, and I would likely be on a similar pace if I were on my bike. I was not on my bike. I wish they would have let me by.
But, I was also not going to pressure them in any way. They need to concentrate on the road ahead of them, not me behind them. It was a bit entertaining watching them lean into the turns, and imagining myself on my bike doing the same thing. But, I wasn't on my bike.
These are great roads, but they are also a little hazardous. You should always be on the lookout for livestock, both wild and domesticated, as well as fallen rocks. This is no joke. Rocks are always falling from the cliff faces onto the road surface. I've seen one destroy a tire and the rim it was mounted on.
Also remember, people live and work out here along these roads. Please give them the respect that you would also want give to you, in your own neighborhood.
I hope you enjoy watching this drive down RM 337 as much as I enjoyed driving it.

Bluegrass Motorcycle Museum in Hartford, Kentucky
Let's rev up our engines—this is a museum that roars. Jack Embry of Hartford displays his collection of vintage motorcycles at his Bluegrass Motorcycle Museum. His passion for motorcycles includes restoring them, and many of these rare bikes are ready to hit the highway. In fact, Embry and his grandson get two 100-year-old motorcycles going at the same time for our cameras.
The Bluegrass Motorcycle Museum is located in Embry's private home and is available to tour by appointment only. He shared with us the highlights—more 20 American-made motorcycles as well as motorcycle memorabilia he has collected over the past 30 years.
Since the invention of the first gas-engine motorcycle in 1885, the look of these bikes has changed dramatically. This Kentucky collection features early motorcycles from revered names in the industry—a 1911 Yale, a 1912 Eagle, a 1915 Shaw—as well as later models like Harley Davidsons.
