The folks at Long Trail describe their history this way – “The first batch of Long Trail Ale® rolled off the line in 1989. Back then the brewery—known as the Mountain Brewers—was a modest brew house tucked into the basement of the Old Woolen Mill in Bridgewater Corners, with the goal to brew an affordable, American-made alternative to the pricey German and English exports that filled the shelves.”

The Long Trail Century Ride is an event established through a partnership of Long Trail Brewery in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, Killington Resort, the Lookout Tavern, and many local businesses in the Killington region. The goal of the annual event is to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling all while raising funds for the state's largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities.
Whether cycling on the 100-mile or 50-mile loops, or simply journeying near the Brewery on the 20-mile loop, there is something for everyone to enjoy during the Long Trail Century Ride. All courses start and finish together at Long Trail Brewery, located on Route 4. The festivities continue for all after the ride at the brewery, where a Long Trail inspired BBQ menu will be prepared, live music and family entertainment, refreshments, and more will make this an event not to be missed.
Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports is largest year-round disabled sports non-profit organization in Vermont offering the most diverse program opportunities and unique, specialized equipment. Vermont Adaptive promotes independence and furthers equality through access and instruction to sports and recreational opportunities including alpine skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports; kayaking, canoeing, sailing, cycling, hiking, rock climbing, tennis, horseback riding, and more. More than 400 volunteers serve clients of all abilities with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities from all over the world in three winter locations in Vermont - Pico Mountain at Killington; Sugarbush Resort in Warren; and Bolton Valley Resort in Bolton as well as spring/summer/fall locations on the Burlington waterfront, Waterbury Reservoir, Stoughton Pond, and a number of state parks and bike and recreation paths across the state.

The annual Long Trail Century Ride to benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports is a recreational century ride that starts and ends at Long Trail Brewery on Route 4 in Bridgewater Corners, Vermont.
Two shorter rides of 50- and 20-miles allow participants to cycle through the towns of Killington, Pittsfield, Bethel, Barnard, Woodstock, Ludlow, Bridgewater, and Plymouth, Vermont. Quaint villages, the scenery of Route 100 and U.S. Route 4, the Crossroad of Vermont Byway, the seventh of its kind recently designated by the Vermont Transportation Board, are incorporated into the routes.
After the ride, Long Trail Brewery is the host for a ride celebration, complete with a full plate of food, live music and entertainment, flowing beverages, and other festivities.

Limbo IPA | Presented by the Long Trail Brewing Company
A big, mouthwatering IPA, Limbo is the first year-round Long Trail offering to be born out of our new Farmhouse Pilot Brewery. We had such great success with the IPAs coming out of our Pilot facility-- in both our Farmhouse Ales (brewery-only) and Brown Bag Series (regionally distributed, draught-only)-- that we decided to release Limbo IPA, in packaged and draught, year-round.
When we launched Brown Bag in 2013, a web page dedicated to customer feedback was put online. After experiencing the first IPA in the series, one customer's email remarked, You'd better not leave me sitting here in limbo waiting for you to brew some of your new IPAs year-round. And so became Limbo.
At 80 IBUs, we knew this Australian & West Coast hopped IPA warranted packaging that was equally as bold, so we broke the Long Trail mold and went to some uncharted territory. The packaging graphics and tap handles are like nothing we have ever done before and are sure to turn some heads. Equally as impressive, the tap handle is made from a replica of a human femur.
With a great look and big, refreshing taste, this beer will shake your bones!

Vermont ( (listen)) is a state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States. It borders the U.S. states of Massachusetts to the south, New Hampshire to the east, New York to the west, and the Canadian province of Quebec to the north. Vermont is the second-smallest by population and the sixth-smallest by area of the 50 U.S. states. The state capital is Montpelier, the least populous state capital in the United States. The most populous city, Burlington, is the least populous city to be the most populous city in a state. As of 2015, Vermont was the leading producer of maple syrup in the United States. It was ranked as the safest state in the country in 2016.For thousands of years indigenous peoples, including the Mohawk and the Algonquian-speaking Abenaki, occupied much of the territory that is now Vermont and was later claimed by France's colony of New France. France ceded the territory to Great Britain after being defeated in 1763 in the Seven Years' War. Thereafter, the nearby colonies, especially the provinces of New Hampshire and New York, disputed the extent of the area called the New Hampshire Grants to the west of the Connecticut River, encompassing present-day Vermont. The provincial government of New York sold land grants to settlers in the region, which conflicted with earlier grants from the government of New Hampshire. The Green Mountain Boys militia protected the interests of the established New Hampshire land grant settlers against the newly arrived settlers with land titles granted by New York.
Ultimately, a group of settlers with New Hampshire land grant titles established the Vermont Republic in 1777 as an independent state during the American Revolutionary War. The Vermont Republic partially abolished slavery before any of the other states. Vermont then became the fourteenth state to be admitted to the newly established United States in 1791. Vermont is one of only four U.S. states that were previously sovereign states (along with California, Hawaii, and Texas), given that the original 13 states were formerly colonies. During the mid 19th century, Vermont was a strong source of abolitionist sentiment and sent a significant contingent of soldiers to participate in the American Civil War.
The geography of the state is marked by the Green Mountains, which run north-south up the middle of the state, separating Lake Champlain and other valley terrain on the west from the Connecticut River valley that defines much of its eastern border. A majority of its terrain is forested with hardwoods and conifers. A majority of its open land is in agriculture. The state's climate is characterized by warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Its largest city, Burlington, had fewer than 50,000 residents, as of 2010. Demographically, the state was 94.3% white, as of 2010. At that time, Protestants (30%) and Catholics (22%) made up the majority of those reporting a religious preference with 37% reporting no religion. Other religions individually contributed no more than 2% to the total.
Vermont's economic activity of $26 billion in 2010 caused it to rank 34th in gross state product. It has been ranked 42nd as a state in which to do business. Politically, Vermont transitioned from being a reliably Republican state to one more liberal starting in 1960. It alternates between Republican and Democratic governors, but has sent only Democrats (or independents) to Congress since 2007. Voters have consistently chosen Democrats for president since 1992. The state became the first to recognize unions for same-sex couples through legislative action with the introduction of civil unions in 2000.
